Europe is the traditional heartland of cycling. Every year it is home to the most famous and arguably most exciting race the pedal-powered world has to offer, the inimitable Tour de France, and year-round it boasts miles and miles of world-class cycling routes, satisfyingly twisty back roads and iconic cols to ascend and descend.
It’s not difficult to see why cycling tours are soaring in popularity. With so many people taking to two wheels, it’s only natural to want to branch out – to discover a different country in a different way. If you want to upgrade from enthusiastic commuter to alpine climber, from a Sunday cyclist to a full-week adventurer, or just pedal leisurely through new surroundings, we have plenty of Europe cycling tours to tempt and inspire you.
Cycling tours here appeal to all sorts of travelers. For the serious cyclist, there’s the chance to tackle world-famous cols and climbs; push yourself on the same routes as the professional athletes. But you don’t need to be a hardcore training fanatic to take to two wheels. There are endless opportunities for leisurely Europe cycling tours: wind your way through multiple countries along the banks of beautiful rivers and canals, meander the pastoral paths through the idyllic countryside or find your way through ancient forests and rugged coastlines. You can choose between a fully supported self-guided ride at your own pace, with luggage transfers taken care of and detailed route notes provided, or join a group of friendly fellow cyclists to share the journey with, led by an experienced guide. Either way, you’ll be able to discover the best of Europe on two wheels.

I was drawn to this trip because I wanted to visit and learn more about this fascinating part of the world which has such a dramatic history. As it was my first cycling holiday I was also keen to choose a trip that wasn’t too strenuous and offered a good balance of activity and cultural interest. The trip fully met, and in fact, exceeded my expectations. I would highly recommend the trip as a way of having a really enjoyable and active holiday while experiencing the history and culture of these proud and vibrant countries. (The fantastic weather was a lovely bonus!)
A fascinating trip through the 3 Baltic countries. The terrain was quite flat and the cycling easy over an amazing mix of forest trails generous cycle paths and some road travel. We were blessed with good weather and even managed to swim in the Baltic 3 times. The tour gave us a great insight into the conditions within all 3 countries during the Soviet era and how things have changed since then. The trip encompassed a wide range of activities and experiences ranging from climbing a forest fire watch tower to descending into the depths of an old Soviet nuclear missile site. Our travels were very much “off the beaten track” and we were able to meet the locals and had the opportunity to sample the local cuisine, including pink beetroot soup, smoked herring and potato-covered “zeppelins”.
