Walking in Tuscany
This trip offers something for everyone – hill walking, a few tougher climbs, a cultural day (optional ) in the beautiful town of Lucca, and every evening the lovely farmhouse and home cooking to return to. Leaders play such a big part in the success of these trips, and Sara is one of the best – social, professional, organised, inspirational, knowledgable ……
Most Inspirational Moment
When Sara got the whole group safely up to the natural arch at the summit - quite a climb, and the best views of the week!
Thoughts on Group Leader
Sara Bull is a great leader. Her knowledge of the history and geography of the area really help get the most out of the trip, and she is sensitive to the abilities and aspirations of each individual in the group, so that everyone has a rewarding experience.
Advice for Potential Travellers
Choose carefully between the standard itinerary and the more challenging weeks - the latter include some longer days, steeper terrain and an occasional scramble, but well worth the effort.

Cycling Sardinia-trip of a lifetime!
This was our second Exodus guided trip and what an amazing trip it was. Sardinia is a gem of a place with breathtaking scenery and history. From start to finish it was an adventure. The Sinis wetlands with the Mistral , Tharros, the Green Coast coastline, the very trip and Islands of Sant Antioco exactly as described. The guides Michele Q and Michele Z were incredible and worked so hard. Their support in the van and on the road so attentive , not to forget their fruit salad and chocolate on the stops.
Most Inspirational Moment
It had to be the 7km hill up to the Agriturosmo farm. A very tough section but rewarding in many ways. The Rocce Bianche Farmhouse at the top was just wonderful.Their 0km banquet where all the food was grown on site was wonderful. The next day the 7km descent just as breathtaking.
Thoughts on Group Leader
The leaders Michele Q and Michele Z were incredible. They worked tirelessly and so attentive to every detail. The evening briefings, attention to safety on the road a priority, and they have excellent local knowledge and history. Every day they arranged lunches, phoning ahead, giving us options. One day Michele Q took the ladies bikes up the top of the hotel hill to start the day and took luggage up to rooms.Michele Z was so attentive, and what a knowledge on local history.
Advice for Potential Travellers
Suggest be in very good fitness for the trip. There were 2 very challenging days on Day 3 and 4 with steep long climbs that I wished I had trained a bit before. However there was always the offered option of sitting out any section in the van.

Cycling Cuba
A thoroughly enjoyable holiday in a very interesting country.
The guide was fantastic – knowledgable, passionate and delivered the information in an inspiring way.
Accommodation was of varied types and in the majority of cases exceeded our expectations.
Food was simple but plentiful – occasionally outstanding (especially my surprise birthday cake).
Most Inspirational Moment
the whole experience was a real eye opener to the Cuban people, their history and way /pace of life.
Thoughts on Group Leader
EXCELLENT!
Advice for Potential Travellers
Drink plenty of water and you do not need to take any jumpers!

Far far exceeded (already high) expectations
A week in Jordan gives you time to see the main places in a truly amazing country. Guide was really good and knowledgably and the itinerary superb
Most Inspirational Moment
Floating in the Dead Sea..... First sight of the Treasury at Petra..... Walks around Petra (we were quite active and did around 40km over two days in Petra - its huge - walks not that tough if you are relatively fit).... The sunset in Wadi Rum...
Thoughts on Group Leader
Ala - our group leader was brilliant. kept us moving, never too pushy to get moving, good advice on where to eat.
Advice for Potential Travellers
People in Jordan are very friendly, and in particular the people trying to sell you stuff are not in any way pushy (something I was worried about after having been to Egypt).
You may see some comments on tips and this was no issue. The Trip Notes suggest forming a kitty (as does the guide) and GBP10 for the week did it.
I would defo advise to go on the boat trip in Aquba - really relaxing and nice way to spend a day and three hectic ones in Petra and Wadi Rum

Amazing Dolomite Trekking
Great week of level 5 trekking with amazing views. The option of swapping to level 3 if desired was available to us at each evening’s debrief which was perfect.
Each trek available each day was described and we could chose each evening which group we went out with.
Hotel and food was simply wonderful, fabulous hosts!
Would go back again in a heartbeat.
Most Inspirational Moment
All of it, the views, the walking and the Refugio's we stopped at for lunches made for a perfect walking holiday.
Thoughts on Group Leader
Both Eric and Albert were great. Both friendly and helpful.
Advice for Potential Travellers
Be prepared for hard (but very rewarding) walking at level 5 with simply amazing scenery.
I did the last day at level 3 which was very easy and i'm very glad I had stuck with the level 5 walks all week.
The hotel has a sauna to relieve any aches - do make use of it - and after a good nights sleep you were ready for another good days walking.
Do take rain coats just in case - weather as in all mountains can be unpredictable.

Highlights of Turkey
A very busy tour with some long drives. Some of the hotel bathrooms were extremely small and inconvenient and I feel that single travellers were put into inferior rooms to couples, which is annoying when you pay a supplement to have a single room. However, overall this is a wonderful trip visiting some of the top sites in western Turkey. There is not enough time in Istanbul though.
Most Inspirational Moment
There were many. Rustem Pasha Mosque in Istanbul; Ephesus; Kas (a really lovely town); Phaselis ancient city; Mevlana Calaleddin Rumi (Whirling Dervish Museum); rock church frescoes in Cappadocia.
Thoughts on Group Leader
Fatih Develi was excellent. He is knowledgeable, flexible with the itinerary, moving visits if we were running short of time, gave us many options and always made sure we were happy with his suggestions. He was always helpful and patient with all our questions. He also has a sense of fun. He made this a great and memorable holiday.
Advice for Potential Travellers
Be prepared for some very long drives. If you have Unal as your driver you will have a very comfortable bus and he is an excellent driver. Traffic can be heavy getting into and out of cities. Roads are generally very good but there are a few drives over hairpin bends.

Tuscany in September
I went to a lovely holiday in Tuscany this September. The farmhouse/ BB was lovely and the food was great. The weather on one of the walks was fierce one day: really strong storm ( Föhn)/ hail/ rain.. We had to return to base and explored the area closer to home. The superb knowledge of the local area of our guide Sara allowed us to have great walks on the right side of the mountains for the rest of the week! It is a beautiful place
Our Italian taxi driver family spoke English with the broadest Glasgow accent!
I went to Lucca on the day off and it is really amazing- the local city tour guide was really good!
I will certainly come back to Garfagnana – and will try to learn a bit Italian first!
Most Inspirational Moment
I really enjoyed the rock arch of Monte Forato - the walk up through the beech trees and back through meadows on a beautiful day was really relaxing and allowed me to quietly dream about the world go by before the fog came in from the sea..
The other walk I really enjoyed was the one to Monte Tambura ending in the shepherds village of Campocatino a small shepherd's village which is being beautifully restored in local style. It will be super once they are finished.
All the walks led us through beautiful areas on well marked routes.
Thoughts on Group Leader
Sara had superb knowledge of the area and found beautiful walks every day -that was especially useful when the Föhn weather required change of plan for some days. She also tried her best to help group members who were really worried about some aspects of the walks ( height especially).
To have Marmite for breakfast for the english group members was the icing on the cake!
Advice for Potential Travellers
Please read the walk descriptions carefully .Remember to bring a long-arm layer and gloves!
Sara will safely bring you back down safely no matter what the weather so no worries ,

Sand and Safari
This trip exceeded our expectations. The itinerary provided a much more varied experience than many ‘safari’ trips – from sand dunes in Sossusvlei to safari in Etosha via dolphins and seals in Swakopmund, there was something for everyone!
Most Inspirational Moment
We enjoyed the whole experience but here are some of our 'highlights':
bonding with the group around the camp fire
hiking up Dune 45 and watching the sunrise
getting really close to Cheetahs at the conservation project at Solitaire
getting really close to seals (sharing a boat!) and dolphins on the boat trip from Swakopmund
seeing rhinos and elephants around the waterhole in Etosha
Thoughts on Group Leader
Ronney was great! He was very ably assisted by Shane and Jonas and nothing was too much trouble for any of them. They worked extremely hard. They answered our questions with a smile no matter how stupid the questions were nor if it was the third time they had been asked! The food was truly exceptional - Jonas even cooked bread and cake over the camp fire!
Advice for Potential Travellers
We would recommend the camping trip as it means you bond more with the group - sitting around a camp fire in the dark with the stars spread above is truly magical.
It gets really dark very quickly so take a head torch! Scrabbling about in a tent in the dark holding an ordinary torch is not easy!
All the facilities at the camp sites were very clean and functional. There were always flushing toilets and hot showers so even though it is not glamping it is hardly roughing it either.

Camino De Santiago
We had a great trip, our guide Jose was very helpful and patient. The timing was well planned between am and pm walks for the most part. We found that an hour lunch was too long as my joints would become a little stiff, 30 minutes was more appropriate for me.
Our walking group was not well matched, we could have reached our destination much earlier in the day and would have had time to explore the local area but most days we arrived between 4 and 5 and it did not provide enough time to have a look around.
Most Inspirational Moment
It was reaching Santiago for sure. Seeing all the other pilgrims celebrating their achievement as well as our group was awesome. It was humbling to see people with disabilities struggle through the walk.
It was a little disappointing walking through a built up area to reach the cathedral. I missed the pilgrim blessing as I didn't know that we could just show our passports and gain entrance to the cathedral. We were behind a large line up and just gave up our spot.
Thoughts on Group Leader
Jose was very helpful and very patient. He made sure that he spent time with all of the people in our group. He encouraged us to walk together as a group. He had a good sense of humor.
Advice for Potential Travellers
Please have your group leader arrange for your pilgrim's passports to be handed in as a group to avoid 16 people waiting in line for their certificate. I was at the pilgrim's office for 7.30 am in the morning for the 8 opening and it still took me an hour for my certificate, later we found that our guide could have had us sign a document and hand in our passports as a group and then one person could have simply picked them up without waiting. The process described is very seamless and time efficient.
