Most Inspirational Moment
Undoubtedly walking round the city walls of Dubrovnik in the late afternoon sunshine. The red tiled roofs stood out against the sparkling blue of the Adriatic sea - a photographer's paradise. The walk round the city walls is optional, but was a highlight for me - definitely worth taking one's time over this. The optional day trip to Mostar in Bosnia was also well worth doing, in spite of the long drive. The small town of Mostar was bustling with tourism, but it was worth spending time in the museum and watching the little film to get a bit of a feel for the history of the bridge and what it meant to the people - you could not help being moved by this.
Thoughts on Group Leader
Our group leader was fun, engaging and informed. He was a good organiser, in spite of our being such a big group, was very amenable and eager to please. Full marks!
Advice for Potential Travellers
Be aware that this is really a 6 day holiday, not actually 8 days as billed, as you arrive in the evening and depart in the morning. Be prepared for some very busy local bus trips, as the Dubrovnik hotel is way out of the city.
Suggestions
A great introduction to a beautiful country. It leaves you eager for more, and I am now keen to try the cycling trip. I think the trip would benefit from being a day or two longer, as there was not really time to do all that we wanted in and around Dubrovnik, eg I didn't have time for the cable car or a boat trip to some of the islands.
