Chamonix Tours
Arguably the prettiest village in the French Alps, Chamonix is also easily accessible for any adventure, being just a quick plane hop from Geneva and a beautiful mountain train climb away. Perched at the base of Mont Blanc, it’s the perfect place from which to soak up the spectacular mountain views and peace and tranquillity that this magical part of the world offers.
On our Chamonix trips, led by an expert guide, you’ll get off the beaten track and find the silence of the winter forest broken only by the ‘swish, swish’ of your snowshoes as you move quietly through the mountains. Keep your eyes peeled for deer, chamois, hare, fox and marten, native to the region. In the evening, cosy up in your accommodation and savour even more regional specialities: fondue and raclette. Although Chamonix is famous for winter activities, its reputation is growing as a centre for alternative adventure sports, summer walking and relaxation, too. And it’s a great base from which to explore the challenges of the Alps, particularly our trekking tours to Mont Blanc.

Lawrence Leclair Tour du Mont Blanc Hotel Trek
David Handcock Tour du Mont Blanc Hotel TrekWe recently completed the Tour, having waited a few years after a ‘covid cancellation’ and whilst being fortunate with the weather (there were high temperatures before our trip and heavy rain afterwards), we enjoyed it immensely. The physical challenge was huge, perhaps not unexpectedly and the scenery utterly beautiful. If I could sum up our experience I’d say that our previous two major treks were in the Himalayas amongst mountains almost twice the height but this did nothing to lessen the majesty and sheer beauty of the Mont Blanc region. Any disappointments such as too much shopping for lunch and a poor hotel experience in St Gervais were minor niggles.
