If you’re looking for a winter adventure in Norway with snow and ice, and perhaps some Northern lights, then a winter holiday in Norway is sure to deliver.
A playground for all types of winter sports, Cross-country skiing is by far the most popular. With rolling hills and wild fells, it’s the perfect sport for all levels from beginner to advanced.
Norway winter tours are the perfect antidote, with picture perfect white wintry scenes and an expanse of rugged wilderness. Our mountain bases are three to four hours away from Oslo.
Many of our featured hotels are ‘High Mountain hotels’ with access to remote terrain, meaning as soon as you step out the door, you’re in the heart of magical forests, with gargantuan still lakes at their centre and surrounded by towering mountains. You’ll be in awe of the silence that surrounds these rural idylls.
Our cross-country skiing tours offer a variety of grades, so you can explore undulating track as a beginner or intermediate skier and then possibly the most impressive off-piste slopes in Europe for the more advanced skiers. There are also opportunities for mixed-activities in which you can sample a number of different types of winter adventures, including snowshoeing and dogsledding.
The Dolomites are a beautiful region and this trip is a fun way to explore it by skii. The itinerary struck a perfect balance between physical activity and relaxation. Each day offered scenic ski routes through pristine, snow-covered landscapes—peaceful forests, frozen lakes, and charming alpine villages. Our guide Michele was not only highly skilled and knowledgeable about the terrain but also enthusiastic and encouraging, making the experience enjoyable for skiers of all levels. Whether you were a first-timer or an experienced skier, you felt supported and challenged in all the right ways.
The hotel was cozy and we ate delicious meals—exactly what you want after a day on the trails.
This was the best vacation we’ve ever had. There were four things that made this vacation absolutely outstanding:
First: the location- between the Northern lights and the snowy forest and river landscapes, this place is heaven on earth.
Second: the guides- Janne and Lars made this a really special trip. It’s clear that they love their jobs and their location. Lars makes all of the bread fresh daily and his kitchen staff is so talented. All of the food was delicious. Janne is such a great outdoorsman (Janne was our main guide for the trip)- it was so neat hearing of all of the training experiences he’s had. They were both so knowledgable about all of the wildlife in the area.
Third: the activities. The activities were so great! The snowshoeing and cross-country skiing was challenging and fun. I loved them both, and I even had time to improve my new skiing skills over the trip (my husband wants to continue in our winters at home!). Then the dog-sledding, reindeer-sleighing and learning about the Sami culture and visiting with a Sami reindeer herder were once-in-a-lifetime experiences. They were amazing, and I will never forget them.
Finally, the fourth thing that made this trip fabulous was: the group. I wonder if Exodus just calls to people who you really want to spend time with. We loved the entire group, and they made this vacation amazing. They were supportive in all of our falling-down efforts, no one felt they had to outdo anyone else, and our evenings of downtime while we chased the Northern lights were all so much fun! We’ll definitely book with Exodus again!
A whole week’s worth of “things I’ve never done before” experiences! A wide variety of winter-oriented activities, each of them special in their own right. Basecamp provided some great accomodations (both food and lodging) and the guides were first class. Strongly recommend for anyone who is looking for a winter getaway. I have been on six adventure-oriented trips with a travel group and this was my favorite one.
Our expert guides know the destinations better than anyone: exactly which spot to stand to get the very best photograph; exactly what time to arrive to avoid the crowds. And they’ll take you to the very best locally-owned restaurants so you get a taste of what real life is all about. These are the people who will help you get a unique insight into what a place is all about, the people who will take you to the heart and soul of a destination.
And, at Exodus HQ every single one of us is passionate about travel and adventure.
