Vietnam 2015: chopsticks & coconuts

Loved vietnam from top to bottom. The trip was well paced and included so many activities, sightseeing, bicycle rides, boat trips, Cookery class, shows to name a few in a space of 2 weeks. Quan our guide was very friendly, helpful, informative and was well organised in all aspects of the trip. It was a country that provide a multi sensory experience. Our girls made friends for life and loved the trip as much as we did.

Most Inspirational Moment

We loved the hustle and bustle of the city of Hanoi. We could sit by a bar and be fascinated watching the hundreds of motorbikes and cyclists rushing by loaded with families, crates of animals, mattresses, furniture and all sorts!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Really friendly, informative, well organised and great with children.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Definately book to see the A O Show in Saigon, it's awesome!!

Atlas Panorama

The Atlas Panorama was a fantastic walking holiday – we went as a family of 5 aged 16 upwards and all enjoyed the experience. It is a good combination between a bit of city life and then remote and simple village life. The Gite is basic but was very clean and the food was delicious – also beautiful views. The picnics provided by the cooks were delicious. We thought it was a good balance of walking on each day and the guide was excellent.

Most Inspirational Moment

The fact that we all made it on the long trek, had a wonderful picnic and enjoyed the day.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Hassan is very helpful, considerate and friendly. He is quite quiet but certainly knows what is going on in the group and was able to work out everyone's abilities very quickly. He made sure that everyone in the group was able to complete the walks. It was very interesting to talk to him about local life in Morocco.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Although we thought the Gite was very clean and comfortable, don't go on this holiday if you don't want to share a dorm, sleep on a mattress and need to be connected to the internet to survive. We took 3 season sleeping bags but in fact we were hot (April), there are blankets and pillows in the Gite. Take blister plasters, just in case!

Colours of Rajasthan

This was our first visit to India and it couldn’t have gone better. The sights, smells and colours of Rajasthan will live long in the memory. we travelled long hours on the coach but this only added to the experience as there is so much to see while on the road. We had plenty of stops along the way to visit the forts and palaces that adorn this area.

Most Inspirational Moment

The highlight for me was to see the tigeress in the wild with her cubs. whilst on our tiger drive. And of course the Taj Mahal. we had to get up early and I can now boast my wife and I on the day we visited were the first through the gates! and all of the group had great uninterrupted photos taken of the Taj Mahal

Thoughts on Group Leader

we had a tremendous leader in Chandra. if you are lucky enough to have Chandra on your next trip you are in for a treat. His love for his country and his depth of knowledge is astounding. a great sense of humour and compassion for us inexperienced travellers. he had the ability to stand at the front of the coach and give a talk on any Indian related subject we put to him.. which was often funny and always interesting. we visited many forts and palaces and Chandra's knowledge of each one was superb. Chandra was possibly the highlight of the whole trip

Advice for Potential Travellers

we visited many temples forts and palaces I would recommend a diary or journal to remember some of the highlights

Finnish Wilderness Week

This was one of the most exhilarating holidays I’ve been on for a long time. I only booked at the last minute which was fine because everything you need is supplied and it just means packing a few changes of clothes for the evening. Oulanka Base Camp is very cosy with really lovely staff who looked after us well – the food was exceptional and all made from fresh. The itinerary lets you try all the activities and then do them with more challenge if you want to. I opted for the additional day-long husky driving and it was wonderful to be travelling through spectacular scenery pulled by these extraordinary dogs – absolutely wonderful!

Most Inspirational Moment

Definitely the long husky driving trip. My team was raring to go all the time and sweeping down the tracks at speed was so exciting - a real adrenalin rush! I would definitely do this again.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Everyone was just so helpful and kind - a really lovely group of people.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Go for it! Trust the leaders and try everything because you do get better at the activities.

AXW

A brilliant week, full of new experiences, Plenty of history, the many different settlers amazed us.

Most Inspirational Moment

The extra day in Petra climbing on the top and looking down. And the desert experience in the Bedouin camp.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Our Guide, Zuhair, was brilliant. He had good knowledge, good English, and was full of extra information. He gave us an all-round experience on top of the trip details.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Clothing - layers, layers, layers. It can be cold at night in the desert. Hot in Aqaba. Also it does rain occasionally, so a thin mac over a fleece is useful. Sunglasses and sun-tan lotion. There can be mosquitos in the south but no malaria. You definitely need some sort of footwear to go in the Dead Sea, the sea bed is very rough. Jelly shoes would be ideal. (Flip-flops tend to float away!) The temperature variation between north and south is quite large. You'll need to carry food and water, so a small rucksack essential. Don't forget your camera!!

Cycle Cuba

Absolutely fabulous trip! If you are considering booking, don’t hesitate you will love it. Cuba is totally unique and I feel privileged to have cycled Cuba before it changes. A full itinerary, combining cycling through vibrant Havana, small villages with very friendly people, alongside sugar plantations and even forest trails with crabs! A real mixed bag with lots of variation and even offered visits to museums with history briefings and a couple of chances to visit clubs and sample salsa. Laz was an excellent guide and one of the best I have experienced with Exodus.

Most Inspirational Moment

Havana, Trinidad and the climb up Sierra Maestra.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Laz, was an excellent leader. One of the best. Very professional and his knowledge, social skills and English was superb.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Pleased I took by gel seat cover, bottle for bike and cash in Sterling. Don't rely on credit cards and check before you travel if you plan to take another currency as very few are accepted.

Colours of Rajasthan

This was our first trip with Exodus and we were thrilled with our visit to India. The trip was very well organised and each day carefully planned so no time was wasted. A large area was covered, so there was quite a lot of time on the bus, but many stops en route (such as watching brick builders) and the sights along the way added to the experience. Besides the amazing temples, forts and other monuments we visited, there were still plenty of chances to learn about and experience life in Rajasthan.

Most Inspirational Moment

The fort at Jodhpur, Taj Mahal and the lake at Udaipur

Thoughts on Group Leader

Chandra was outstanding. The whole experience of the trip was enhanced by his guidance. His knowledge, humour and insights in to Indian life helped to create an exceptional holiday. He was always aware of our safety and was available 24/7.

Mallorca

Excellent trekking trip with good evening entertainment.

Most Inspirational Moment

Mallorca was a complete surprise........what a fabulous island.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Eduard made the holiday. Very passionate about the Island. He organised the walks, picnics, dinner, transportation etc etc. Everything ran very smoothly.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Watch out for red wine at dinner.......after 6 days, my liver is feeling the effects.

Walking in Mallorca = code TST

An excellent holiday. Great guide, lovely walks and a good group. Walking 6 continuous days was enough but you are free to have a rest day or two if you want. Weather was perfect for walking – mainly sunny but not hot. Walks were very varied and the scenery was beautiful. Very well organised.

Most Inspirational Moment

My favourite walks were from the Puerto Soller base. The walk to Cala Tuent on the transfer day was my favourite capped off with a very refreshing swim in the sea. The mountain walks were well worth the ascent with stunning views.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Edward was great, good fun, very informative and well organised. His good contacts everywhere ensured we were well looked after. There is very little he doesn't know about olives.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Don't be put off by the second walk. It is the hardest on paper but the ascent was made easier by very good gradual paths

Just amazing Essential Peru!

This trip covered a lot of ground (mostly by aircon bus with a loo) allowing a taste of the different environments Peru has to offer. Coastal wildlife (sealions and penguins) desert mysteries (Nazca), mountain/ cloud forest civilisation (Machu Picchu) and Lake living (Titicaca). With a bit of ‘city’ life and shopping thrown it to tempt. The scenery never disappoints and changes by the hour.. and we had amazing weather too! A well planned route to help with altitude acclimatisation.

Most Inspirational Moment

Seeing the spectacle of Machu Picchu in both glorious sunshine and being enveloped by the clouds was quite something... I know I'm very lucky to have experienced both. You really do need to be there to marvel at the sheer ingenuity of the builders and inhabitants..... Seeing the Nazca lines for real after 'doing them' at school many years ago was quite special too... also seeing penguins in the wild for the first time ...and meeting our lovely family for the home stay. . Their Spanish was no better than mine but we managed just fine!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Our group leader Aleks was lovely- experienced, knowledgeable, reassuring. His passion and enthusiasm for sharing his country rubbed off on the group who appreciated his gentle humorous approach the schedule management! Nothing was too big an ask or too stupid a question. I got the impression that he genuinely wanted us each to have a truly brilliant holiday and get the most put or each day. If you get Aleks as your leader you are very lucky!

Advice for Potential Travellers

Be prepared for some long coach journeys and some early starts. Do things slowly... The altitude does strange things to people. Pack layers for all weather's.
