Alex our guide knew the area so well that he was able to make daily route adjustments to suit weather and ability. Above and beyond the call of duty.
As usual the group was a great mix of personalitys.
The landscape was truly exceptional.
Don’t forget your waterproof clothing though.

The Croatia Islands and Mountains trip was wonderful – challenging in a good way, wonderful scenery, lovely cities, a great mix of activity and relaxation/leisure time, and a fabulous group of folks to travel with.
For me, getting through the more challenging sections of the walks - I am not a hugely experienced trekker by any means, but this was very doable and I was pretty proud of myself by the end! I also was inspired by those who lived in the mountains - although that way of life has changed, I felt like I got an appreciation for what it had been like in the past and a real respect for that way of life.
Our tour leader Zeljko Zarak was outstanding - experienced, wonderful at accommodating everyone's needs, encouraging, and shared his love and knowledge of Croatia generously.
Definitely bring sturdy hiking shoes - I only had my light hiking shoes and while it was perfectly fine, the trails are rocky and my feet would have been happier in my sturdier boots. It was hot, even in early June - so be prepared with water and sun protection.
Started off fraught…but ended up being amazing…!!
So this is how the story goes… One wet and rainy Tuesday morning is was chucking it down in the South East.. so all of the Motorways were bent as usual on the way to Gatwick, I finally got there at 1445 with the flight due to leave at 1615 I thought great I had made it, so queued up with the rest of the passengers to check the Bike and the rest of the Baggage in…and then I checked my Passport and guess what?? – yes it was the wrong one, I had picked my Wife’s up by mistake, there was me the biggest pl!”$ker of the day… It was a pretty bad feeling having arrived to suddenly find out that the Holiday was over even before it started… So decisions had to be made so I rang the Exodus office to see what we could do… I spoke to Marcus Fisher (what an amazing guy), he came up with all of the various options of how I could still join the trip even though it was on day 2, I ended up going back to Derby to fetch the Passport, flew to Istanbul and then Tirana, staying overnight and then a 4 hour Cab ride to join the group…and Exodus sorted it all out for me – so the customer service here was amazing – Thanks to Marcus and the team on the ground in Albania!! – I am in your debt
So to the holiday itself…everything was absolutely spot on…Unit the leader was one of the best I have ever come across and I have been on a lot of adventures over the years!! The group was great, the scenery amazing and the food was lovely…this was my first cycling holiday with Exodus and will be back for another one next year, I fancy Iceland Albania is a great place and I could not recommend it enough, Exodus have thought of everything so you will love it
One word of warning, please do some training for the climbs…you will be glad you did!!
The holiday that everyone wishes they had been on. It really was the holiday of a lifetime. I was too scared to do the flight over the Nazca Lines but those that did, enjoyed it. The highlight was of course the Inca Trail and walking through the Sun Gate to see Machu Picchu. Lake Titicaca was a bit of a surprise to me as to the size of it and I will always be amazed at how the Island of Uros remains afloat on reeds, despite our being shown how. This holiday will stay with me forever.
Watching the porters on the Inca Trail carry the amount of luggage/equipment on their backs whilst the rest of us struggled just to walk it. Of particular amazement was watching them run down the steep steps on the last day. Despite their heavy loads, the porters were always very polite and happy to say hello to us.
Dennis Dolmos was the perfect leader. He ensured that we were all happy and healthy at all times. Nothing was too much trouble for him to arrange and his knowledge of his country was exceptional.
this was my first holiday as a solo traveller and I was slightly apprehensive before going, however from the moment I met the rest of the group at the airport, we all seemed to settle into "family life". Everyone was at ease with everyone else and no-one was left out at any time. I could not have wished for a better group of friends to travel with and I hope to keep in touch with them all, any maybe go on more holidays with them.
What a great trip! Burn off all the calories consumed at dinner with spectacular day hikes. Hikes are not that easy though — bring your walking pole!!
The day visiting Pompeii and climbing to the top of Mt. Vesuvius
Not "leisurely" walking for the non-experienced hiker. Bring good shoes, backpack, walking stick and lots of energy! N
A well run cycling tour with plenty of enthusiastic support from the tour guides and drivers, which made this tour enjoyable and informative. The group all got along well with a good mix of ages and fitness levels with a lot of determination to give it all our best shot, despite riding in quite hot conditions.
Swimming in the Caribbean sea.
The group leader had a very enthusiastic understanding of Cuba's revolution and the resulting life as we find in Cuba today, and was able to convey this in a pleasant and amusing way.
Please make yourself familiar with as much about Cuba as you can and make sure that you are well prepared to handle the heat, which I think was the main factor that caused difficulties for many in the group.
My first group walking experience and I thoroughly enjoyed joining a group of like-minded people for a very well organised holiday. The islands were beautiful, the weather kind and the balance of walking, sight-seeing and relaxing just about right.
Santorini delivered spectacular jaw-dropping scenery but I loved Naxos. I thought the hinterland of Naxos was so beautiful and Naxos Town very interesting. This was the place I want to return to.
Thanos was great - his knowledge of Greek History and Religion was very impressive. He knew everyone and was obviously very much at home on the islands. Best of all was his choice of restaurants and bars in the evenings - they just got better and better. A good leader who also knows when to fade into the background.
I found the stony paths quite challenging so, if you have knee or ankle issues, good walking boots are advisable. The ferry rides are a bit tedious so a good book is essential.
A fun trip as always with a lovely group of people and an excellent leader. Loved all three capitals and the other cities we citied as well as the countryside we cycled through.
Cycling in the Lahemaa National Park to the lovely Park Hotel. Cycling along the Curonian Spit. All 3 capitals especially Riga and Villnius. Tallin was a little spoilt by the noisy hen/stag parties and the cruise shippers.
Vaida was excellent - Knowledgeable about all 3 countries not just her own, with excellent English, and a really friendly fun way about her. Our first driver/mechanic Edgar was also excellent despite speaking no English.
Would recommend anyone who is gluten and dairy-free take some breakfast food with you if like me you like a traditional as opposed to continental breakfast. Also the airline didn't provide any food despite Exodus specifying my dietary needs.
My first cycling holiday and thoroughly enjoyed it. A well humored group of 9 lead by Alan Skulic all going along at our own speeds.Bikes were very good with disc brakes.Suggest activity level 4 for the hill climbs on day 1 and 2 but we all got up them with nobody using the bus. Restaurants for lunch and evening meals were hand picked and very good although the one in Korcula took a long time to bring out the meals. Optional middle day, some went to Mjet island and the three Musketeers cycled to the next town Korcula for pizza and ice cream then back to the hotel pool and bar. We were spoilt by blue sky days which always enhance any trip. Final day in Dubrovnik was great with a walk around the city walls. Want to revisit Croatia and soon!
Getting to the top of the hills! But you need to get to the top to enjoy the amazing long runs downs at speed through the hills with great views.
Alan was a great guide and was really one of us, day and evening answering any questions on geography, politics and social subjects with enthusiasm and good humour. Very punctual and organised.
Pack light, may need a rain jacket but we were lucky. We took our own saddles which they are happy to fit for you. Practice some hill climbs before you go if not a regular cyclist like me. Plenty of cash machines around and we got better rates than UK changing Sterling cash for Kunas in hotel or bank.
I hadn’t been on an Exodus cycling trip before but after this week I would definitely go again! Between the stunning scenery, delicious food and incredibly knowledgeable group leaders it was an amazing week that I would certainly recommend to anyone even if they have been to Greece before. We spent 5 days cycling, visiting some of Greece’s most famous ancient sites and ending up in a small picturesque town on the coast every night other than at the end of Day 5 where we stayed in a lovely hotel up in the hills near Mycenae. We had a great group and all ate together in the evenings where our group leaders usually selected some typical Greek food for us to try which was delicious. All in all a really amazing trip.
Visiting Epidavros and cycling around the coast near Napflio
Yannis and Constantinos were as good as we could have hoped as group leaders. Yannis had a huge amount of knowledge about all of the ancient sites we visited as well as excellent general knowledge on a number of other topics including politics, philosophy, art and geology so he was excellent company and could answer every question we threw at him. Constantinos drove the van behind us and prepared amazing lunches that were waiting for us every day as well as providing constant snacks and water when we stopped for breaks. He dealt with any bike issues that arose quickly and with great humour and was a real asset to the trip.
