Absolutely amazing

This trip was absolutely amazing! I can’t think of a better way to experience a beautiful country like Portugal. The people were friendly, the views breathtaking and the food, coffee, wine and beer were amazing. Our guides, Ruben and Armando were excellent. They were organized, knowledgeable and enthusiastic and went out of their way to provide us with an exceptional experience. I chose to ride a regular bike and would recommend choosing an e-bike if you are not an avid biker, regardless of fitness level.

Most Inspirational Moment

Completing the ascent into Obidos on our last day. We all felt a great sense of pride and accomplishment at having completed such a journey together!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Ruben was absolutely amazing. He showed great passion for his job and pride for his country and went above and beyond to make sure everyone was looked after and having a good experience.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Choose an e-bike if you are not an avid cycler. I recommend pooling together money for the guides to purchase picnic food and snacks along the route.

Amazing

I had such a great trip. From start to finish it was well organised and having the guide and driver meant we were well looked after. Every place we stayed was brilliant and the camping was well set up (just don’t forget your head torch like me!)

Most Inspirational Moment

Camping in the Okavango Delta. Despite being very anxious it was unbelievable. The sunsets will be forever remembered.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Great, very helpful and knowledgeable.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Remember your headtorch!

Walking, swimming and eating

We enjoyed walks with amazing views and lovely beaches. They were, though, different to and harder than on the itinerary/trip notes eg the first day ‘walk through olive groves’ includes and a cliff edge section needing you to use a rope! However when Alper, our leader, realised that the new itinerary, that included a 14km walk, was not going to suit our very diverse group he worked hard to change it to include everyone. Kas is a lovely town with interesting shops and food and still busy in October. Hotel Artemis was good, especially the breakfasts and views from the roof top breakfast room. Alper organised excellent meals for us each night, including one where we sat just a metre from the sea. The group of 15 all got on well.

Most Inspirational Moment

1 After a hard journey and 3 years without travelling swimming, sitting and eating on Limanagzi beach on the first day was unbelievable. 2 The delicious lunch with the family in the mountains. 3 The amazing view of Kas from the high point of one walk.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Alper was kind, helpful and hard working.

Fantastic Ride

Loved every minute of this trip. Glad I had an e-bike. Was able to bike manually most of the time but liked the ebike for the hills. Ruben was a fantastic guide, so positive, enthusiastic and informative. And Armando the van man fed us all very well and researched and accommodated for all the allergies some of the other riders had. Highly recommend throwing in extra for the lunches. Most of the ride was on paved cycle paths which made for an excellent ride. Best way travel this beautiful country❤️

Thoughts on Group Leader

Ruben was fantastic! 5 stars all the way. Informative, enthusiastic and encouraging. Always a smile.

Advice for Potential Travellers

If in doubt, get an ebike.

Amazing time in Bali and Java

Another brilliant trip with Exodus visiting the beautiful islands of Bali and Java. Breath-taking views, welcoming locals, delicious food and sometimes breath-taking climbs were the highlights of the two weeks. The fantastic support team made this already amazing adventure truly unforgettable.

Most Inspirational Moment

Reaching the top of the highest climb in Java

Thoughts on Group Leader

Wira and his team did an amazing job. Everything was perfectly organised for us all the time, we felt spoilt by the support team's attentiveness while they all made their hard work look so effortless and fun. Wira thought of everything, briefed us all the time on the next segment, the next program, the next day.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Do this trip! And pack enough spare clothes so won't need to rely on washing/drying opportunities as they are scares due to the schedule and the humid weather

Walking in Sardinia excellent mix of history

Fab mix of history, scenery, walking in this stunning country.

Most Inspirational Moment

The gorge walk

Thoughts on Group Leader

Knowledgeable, easy to get on with and accommodating.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Definitely go to Orgolosi and the Mask museum. Should be included

An excellent week in Dalmatia

An excellent island hopping tour of Hvar and Korcula with stunning scenery and good food with a great bunch of fellow travellers

Most Inspirational Moment

The view of Korcula town on the coast with the sea and mountains behind was a great picture I will remember, even better than the view of Dubrovnik from the fortress

Thoughts on Group Leader

Mario knew lots of informaton and shared this to give us background details of the areas we were cycling and travelling through

Advice for Potential Travellers

The mountain bikes with half suspension seemed heavy and more than required... until we hit the gravel tracks on Hvar and through the vineyards when they were definitely needed. The pace suited everyone.

Walking, history and culture combined

This was our first trip with Exodus. The group was very welcoming and we were met by the guide at the airport. The initial briefing was comprehensive and there was a daily brief which helped us know what was happening each day. The weather was superb – 30C most days. The scenery is pretty dry by late September so perhaps not as lush as at other times in the year. The accommodation was spacious. The hotel has a very pleasant outdoor bar area where we could gather in the evening and the hotel staff were pleasant and attentive. The evening meals were excellent and great value and portions (very) generous. The local restaurants were of a high standard. The guide was excellent – knowledgeable, attentive and endlessly patient. The itinerary was a good mixture of historical sights and walking on trails and we learned about local history and culture. There plenty of stunning photo opportunities. Overall an excellent trip.

Excellent

A great experience

It’s incredible that you can cycle along the coast from Porto to Obidos on mostly cycle paths. The views are great for the most part. It’s a shame about the destruction of the once beautiful pine forest by fire. The 5 km hill on the 3rd day was quite a challenge and several experienced cyclists in our group felt that this trip should be rated higher than it is. (There were a few other challenging hills in subsequent days). Our group always had the opportunity to ride in the van and e-bikes were available for an extra charge. Breakfasts and lunches were very good. Our van driver put on wonderful picnic spreads for us. All in all this is a great trip with a reasonable length of 5 days cycling. I felt most of us were ‘done’ by day 5. If you can add some days on at the beginning/end to relax and enjoy Portugal.

Most Inspirational Moment

After the 5 km hill we had a beautiful view overlooking the countryside and fun hills to coast down afterwards.

Thoughts on Group Leader

I thought Rita did a good job for the most part. She slipped up a few times by not telling us the correct kilometres to ride when we would set out on our own as she had to stay back with slower cyclists and that led to some confusion. Joao was fantastic. He works so hard yet makes it look easy. He was always very cheerful and has a very kind aura about him. His english is perfect. I think he would be a huge asset to your company if you put him in charge of the tours.

September in Provence

A great blend of (mostly) gentle hiking and wonderful Provencal towns led by an exceptional guide. So glad Exodus offered this walk again after a 2-year, COVID-inspired hiatus.

Most Inspirational Moment

Walking along the Verdon Gorge--high cliffs with amazing blue-green water below.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Isabelle was amazing. She brought the personal knowledge and insight that only someone who lives in this department (Alpes de Haute Provence) could provide. She knows about nature and geology and art and history and food and contemporary issues. We ran into people she knows. Because of her we were invited into the 16th century home of a Frenchman who provides studio space to artists in residence. She shared figs plucked that morning from her own fig tree and offered us local pastries. She is warm and friendly and able to easily connect with everyone in the group. So many Exodus group leaders are impressive. Isabelle ranks among the top.

Advice for Potential Travellers

While most of the walking is indeed a Level 2, there are a few steep ascents/descents, so poles can be helpful for some.
