Reviews

KERALA & TROPICAL INDIA

Continually suprising, interesting, totally absorbing.

Most Inspirational Moment

The scenery, the food, the people........ the whole experience.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Friendly, quietly in control of everything so the whole experience flowed.

Advice for Potential Travellers

If you are reasonably fit go for it!

DISCOVER NAMIBIA

Excellent introduction to exodus, would certainly use them again! Enough variety to keep you occupied. Excellent tour guide/driver & wonderful food served straight from the fireside. Several hours of driving gave a wonderful overview of the country. Camping made the whole experience natural and magical.

Most Inspirational Moment

Climbing up a sand dune for the morning sunrise, I didn't quite get to the top before the sun but magical all the same. As we bounced down the side of the dune we were met by a wild oryx at the bottom. Exceptional and once in a lifetime moment, at one with the natural world.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Fantastic! Knowledgeable. Friendly. Happy. Proud of his country. Would recommend to anyone visting Namibia.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Take a warm sleeping bag (as it gets quite cold at night and in the early morning), a good camera & plenty of sunscreen. Take a movie camera as animals don't stay still for long! Also, stay by the waterhole at night as you will get a wonderful view of the local wildlife, one night we saw 6 rhinos at once, amazing!

HIGHLIGHTS OF TURKEY

Thoroughly enjoyed getting a full flavour of Turkey and the chance to immserse myself in the culture.  Saw lots of out of the way places that were so interesting, such as an Ottoman house used as a living museum depicting life in those times and the crafts used.

Most Inspirational Moment

Being up in a forest path, in an amazing amphitheatre looking down over the mountains; some of us chose to spend time with the person who makes Dervishes' felt hats - that was so interesting; Gallipoli which is so moving and a monument to both sides of the war - we were made to feel welcome by the Turks; having an evening with a lady in Capadocia in her own home - what an astonishing building and a nice meal.  Too many things to choose from!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Kemet was wonderful.  She was well informed and kind as well as good fun.  When a restraunt was getting behind with orders, she went and helped in the kitchen so we did not have to wait too long!

Advice for Potential Travellers

Enjoy!

MONT BLANC CIRCUIT

I had not trekked in this area of Europe before but found the experience really wonderful. I took several hundred photos many of them of wild flowers which were the subject of an illustrated Powerpoint talk locally. Apart from that the scenery was very varied and each day was different. I enjoyed the climb each day.

Most Inspirational Moment

First, seeing extensive meadows of wild flowers with such a wide variety and very unexpected. The scenery was very beautiful and I certainly recommend the trek. Wonderful ice-cream (very many varieties) in the Italian section of the trek. The other trekkers were very friendly and all went well.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Excellent and he allowed us some freedom and at the same time coped well with the differing speed of the trekkers. He gave help where needed and one felt confident with him.

Advice for Potential Travellers

This trek involves a lot of uphill around 11,000metres so a certain amount of fitness is required so that one can enjoy the challenge. Obviously there was as much downhill which is hard on the knees. But at my age of 75 I did not suffer.

CUBAN HIGHLIGHTS RIDE

A nice relaxed way to see real Cuba as you cycle along the countryside roads passing smallholdings and towns.

Most Inspirational Moment

Looking around the Bay of Pigs museum and considering the impact of such an event on the locals.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Gladys and her team of a mechanic and driver were really helpful and shared information with the group and individuals as we went along.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Try the 7 year old dark rum its really great.

A WEEK IN JORDAN

A fascinating week, packed with things to do and see, and very well led.

Most Inspirational Moment

The first sighting of the Treasury at Petra - yes, it looks like all the pictures, but it still is magic.

Thoughts on Group Leader

First class - knowledgeable, interesting, prepared to answer all kinds of questions and clearly not concerned to "give the party line".

Advice for Potential Travellers

Take a universal plug (not electrical) for wash basins.  Several of the hotels have minor snags like ill-fitting plugs, doors that fall off wardrobes and so on - so if it bothers you, and you are handy, also take a small screwdriver.

CYCLING VIETNAM

I don’t think there are any words to describe this trip. It by far exceeded expectations, incredible landscape, extremely friendly people and amazing food. If you’re thinking of doing this trip, stop thinking and just book! It’ll be one of the best things you’ve ever done.

Most Inspirational Moment

I think there were a few great moments, the landscape at the end of the 100km day and the feeling of finishing it. Halong bay and the kayaking was so much fun and Halong bay is beautiful. Having clothes tailored in Hoi An was a lot of fun, make sure you take some pictures with you!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Lam was fantastic, really felt that he cared if we were having a good time. Was attentive to detail and made the effort to interact with the group and really got our humour. Also recommended some really good restaurants.

Advice for Potential Travellers

It's a very full on holiday so if you have the spare annual leave book a bit of time off when you get back. Use good sun screen. Don't pack too many clothes, you'll spend most of your time in cycling gear. If you have a good bike seat, take it with you!

HIGHLIGHTS OF MOROCCO

A good introduction to Morocco, packing in most of the country’s highlights. It was a terrific trip to a hugeley varied and interesting country – go and visit!

Most Inspirational Moment

There are lots of highlights. For me they included- tour of the city of Fez. Amazing place - like going back in time a few hundred years- the countryside of the Atlas mountains. Lovely scenery, and a different way of life- Essouria -indulging in the seafood and a lovely relaxed atmosphere- camel trek into the desert. A little adventure.- shopping in the souks

Thoughts on Group Leader

Husein is immensely patient and very informative.

Advice for Potential Travellers

I was with a party of 4 ladies and we did some independant exploration and we never felt threatened at any time, but take some comfy shoes - it's hot! Most of our group had stomach upsets at some point (although nothing too major), so do take appropriate medication with you. We left some unwanted clothing with the villagers in the mountains which was gratefully receivedParts of Morocco are becoming westernised and prices are rising accordingly, particularly in Marakech. (This was my third visit in 5 years and I noticed the difference). However, it is still a very different culture. See it while you can.

MOUNTAINS & VILLAGES OF EVIA

Overall good but there were also some drawbacks

Most Inspirational Moment

I would not describe any aspect as inspirational.  However, our favourite aspect of the holiday was our lovely hotel room with a great view out over the sea.  Despite being a fairly basic hotel, the owners were very friendly, helpful and relaxed and the location could not have been bettrer.

Thoughts on Group Leader

We had two group leaders, with a switch mid-week.  One was better than the other and the switch led to some discontinuity and some confusion when plans did not seem clear at all times.  Each day was fine, but not all questions about arrangements for subsequent days could be answered.  Would be better to stick to one group leader.

Advice for Potential Travellers

If you are a strong walker, don't do this holiday.  Advice for organisers - when the pace is slow, don't stop so often.  One day when we walked to a beautiful beach, we stopped so much on the way there, that we barely had time on the beach.  A small number of us snatched a quick swim then we were off.

KILIMANJARO CLIMB - LEMOSHO ROUTE

Well organised trip, good leaadership,  good food, great group.

Most Inspirational Moment

Wakening most mornings to sunshine with clouds below us and Mount Meru in the distance.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Mussa was the perfect leader. As well as having a good sense of humour, he continually but quietly checked up on our state of health and kept an eye on what we ate. He was certainly a good role model for the other guides.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Take camel back water system as that lets you use your walking poles without always having to stop for a drink.
