So why postpone your next trip for your friend or partner to join you when you can discover new destinations solo?
Trekking to new summits, cycling along new coastal paths, delving into completely new cultures, or spotting some of the world’s most elusive wildlife is more exciting when you get to share the experience with other travellers – and it’s moments like these which often spark friendships that can last a lifetime. This is just one of the reasons why over 50% of our customers choose to travel solo with us.
Another plus is that you’ll benefit from our expert guide’s unrivalled local knowledge and keen expertise, so you can discover places you wouldn’t find in a guidebook. Travelling with an organised group and expert who knows their destination like the back of their hand, also gives you that added peace of mind, security and convenience in knowing everything is planned for you.

Here’s what some of our past solo travellers had to say:
“Exceptional! After decades of solo travel, doing it all myself, this was a game changer being in a small group…I like my space a lot yet everyone was so authentic, like-minded.”
– Arlette Lee, Exodus Traveller
“The trips are so well organised. I like to travel alone which is well catered for on their holidays, as there are often several other singles on their trips.”
– Gary Brooks, Exodus Traveller
Why Choose to Travel Solo in a Guided Group?
For Your Expert Local Guide
Since 1974, we’ve hand-picked our guides for their outstanding local knowledge and expertise – it’s what sets our adventures apart. Our experts know their destination inside-out and will take you to the best local markets, family-run restaurants, hidden trails and panoramic viewpoints only a local would know how to find. And it’s key knowledge like this that enhances your overall solo travel experience and immerses you deeper into the local culture – something you might miss out on if you travel alone.
For Meeting Like-Minded Travelers
Our guided groups are typically made up of a mix of solo travellers, couples and friends who all share a deep passion for travel and discovering different cultures. Often, we find our travellers make life-long friends on our adventures, with many returning to us to arrange more trips together – sometimes even with the same local guide. They say ‘happiness is the only thing that’s doubled when it’s shared’ – and we agree, as some of the best travel moments come from sharing the experience with others while travelling solo on our tours.
For Reassurance
When you travel with Exodus, you can rest assured that your safety is always our top priority. And thanks to the extensive local knowledge our expert guides have, they know; exactly which areas to go to (as well as where to avoid!); where’s best to exchange your money and they also ensure that your transportation for the whole trip has passed our safety checks. Every itinerary is meticulously designed with our customers’ safety in mind, allowing you to fully relax and enjoy your solo holiday.
For Convenience and Ease
The benefit of travelling solo in our guided groups is that your walking routes, cycling paths and cultural pit-stops have already been meticulously planned to showcase your destination’s highlights and local gems, so it takes all the planning and organising out of your holiday. All we’d recommend you do before your solo trip is review our detailed trip notes before you go, that give you handy tips on what to pack and how to prepare for your upcoming trip! Your luggage transfers, accommodation and connections are also mapped out, so you have a seamless single traveller holiday from start to finish!
On our adventures, we offer twin-shared rooms with you and a traveller in your group of the same gender. But if you’d like the flexibility to book your own private room for the duration of your trip, you can choose to add a single supplement to your booking over the phone or online on the majority of our trips, for a small added charge.
What makes Exodus Travels small group tours a good choice for solo travellers?
Our small guided-group tours are all led by experienced local experts and normally have around 8-16 people in one group. We pride ourselves on having an interest-packed set itinerary that’s been fine-tuned to showcase the best highlights and hidden gems your destination has to offer.
We also like to encourage an inclusive atmosphere with our guided-group adventures, so most days are spent taking part in daily activities with your group. When it comes to mealtimes, check your trip notes to see what breakfasts, lunches and dinners are included in our itineraries. On some evenings, your guide will accompany you to dinner and help you choose which regional specialities to try. However, we also like to include some downtime and free days on our trips, where you have the freedom to explore as you like and heed the guidance of our local expert, who will give great suggestions of where to eat, the best museums and local art galleries to visit or help you organise optional activities like kayaking, ziplining and more.
What will my group be like?
We’re lucky to have travellers joining us from all over the world, with many coming from the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, in a wide range of ages. And what’s more, is that over 50% of our customers choose to travel solo with us so we rarely have a group that only has one solo traveller – most comprise a good mix of solos, couples, and friends travelling together. Prior to your trip beginning, you’ll also be invited to join our “Departure Lounge” by email, where you can post a message, start a discussion with other travellers, ask questions and share travel tips. This is a great way to get to know your group before you head off on your adventure.
Is it cheaper to travel in a group?
You may be surprised but travelling on a guided-group tour can be more cost-effective than travelling solo on your own, as you have the opportunity to split the cost of some optional activities with the group as you go. The majority of transfers, included meals and organised activities are also covered in your booking costs too, which can all add up if you’re travelling alone, especially if you’re looking to travel in remote locations.
What a wonderful trip! We had wanted to visit Jordan, Palestine and Israel, with their amazing historical and biblical sites, for a while and this trip did not disappoint. Our 2 leaders were knowledgeable, helpful and good fun, and navigated the extensive Itinerary seamlessly. They also spoke about the Palestinian / Israeli conflict in a factual, non bias way. I now have a much better understanding of the conflict. The group bonded very well and we spent hours laughing and having fun over the 10 days. If this part of the world interests you then book this trip immediately.
We were a private group of 9 chaps, none of us spring chickens. We went early-March, and the weather was generally warm apart from a couple of very chilly mornings. We were led there by our brilliant leader Mikhled; nothing was too much trouble for him, and he is very knowledgeable. A wonderful country, very friendly. The trip was a good mixture of biking and mini-bus transport. Highlights were Petra, Wadi Rum, the Dead Sea, and Red Sea/Aqaba. Some steep cycling downhill sections and the odd walk up hills – no great surprise at our age! Accommodation fine and food generally excellent; alcohol is sometimes available, sometimes not, so you need to plan a bit in advance if you like to imbibe, as we do. Overall view – highly recommended. (One tip – we were advised to take US dollars as well as Jordanian dinar; you only need the latter in reality).
I think this trip should be called Chile Highlights, as you do see best sites of Chile. There is a lot of travelling – planes and buses, so be prepared! Luckily with our trip we didn’t have any plane delays or cancellations, weather also didn’t spoil the plans, which was great! The standard of accommodation was adequate, I particularly liked Hotel Del Paine -mainlyy for the location and views, and Hotel Diego de Almagro (Atacama) had the best facilities and a great location next to centre of San Pedro.
