3 National Parks to see Bengal Tigers in the wild

International Tiger Day

Nothing will prepare you for the extraordinary thrill of seeing a tiger in the wild. That first encounter where you lock eyes with the world’s biggest cat will leave an indelible imprint on your memory for life. In India, the Bengal tiger has been the country’s unspoken mascot for centuries, ever-present in its architecture, traditional art and religious symbolism, yet its population is continually threatened by poaching and fragmentation of habitat.

A Taste of Adventure: Portuguese Carne de Porco a Alantejana

Portuguese Carne de Porco a Alantejana

“My partner Chris, his son Ed, and I discovered this dish when we went on an Exodus family adventure to Portugal last year. We were staying in Vilanova de Milfontes and I was a bit nervous that a 12-year-old wouldn’t like the food. He soon proved me wrong by trying everything we ordered! One night we discovered this dish on the menu of a local restaurant. Ed surprised me by saying it was his favorite dish, so on our last night we just had to go back and order it again,” says Exodus staff member Gina Eckersley.

A Taste of Adventure: Italian Tiramisu

Tiramisu

The name of this classic Italian dessert translates as ‘pick-me-up’, due, no doubt, to the lavish amounts of caffeine and mascarpone it contains! Our recipe is from our local partners in Italy, the Acampora brothers. They own the Hotel Due Torri – a family-run hotel in a small village just outside Positano and Amalfi. Travelers who visit them are taught how to make this treasured family recipe at the hotel, and often take the recipe home with them.

A Taste of Adventure: Croatian Breskvice

Croatian peach cakes

These pretty little cakes are a great favorite in Croatia at gatherings for family and friends. They are a cross between a sponge and a cookie and are sandwiched with a peach jam, cocoa and rum filling. Little peach cakes are also popular in Italy where they have a custard filling flavored with peach brandy and are known as Tortine di pesche.

Greek island hopping with Thanos

Thanos in Evia, Greece

Sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name, and for our veteran Exodus Guide, Thanos Mamas, this pretty much encompasses the entirety of the Aegean Greek Islands. Leaving no family-run restaurant, bustling market stall or local square unturned, you could say Thanos is the ultimate “man about town”. And for us, this comes as no surprise.

Discover the United Kingdom – on foot, by bike or on the water

Cotswolds

This summer, many of us will be looking to explore our own back yard – and why not. You may not think it, but the United Kingdom is a holiday destination to be reckoned with. As a country, we have stunning national parks that have inspired some of the world’s best literary geniuses. We have wild, murky lochs that continue to spark international intrigue into the whereabouts of Nessie, and we also have an enchanting Area of Natural Beauty that was born above a bedrock of Jurassic limestone. Intrigued? We are too.
