Go cross-country skiing
The Dolomites are one of the best places to travel in December for cross-country skiing, with a superb network of pre-cut tracks throughout the region, combining flat, easy routes and challenging descents. UGANDA
Prime time for spotting gorillas
Temperatures in Uganda remain consistent year-round, but certain times of year are better for wildlife viewing. December is one of the drier, sunnier months, offering optimal conditions for hiking to see the magnificent mountain gorillas, chimpanzees and grey-cheeked mangabeys in Kibale Forest. It’s also an excellent time to see rare tree-climbing lions in Queen Elizabeth National Park on our Chimps & Gorillas of Uganda trip. BHUTAN
Where Faith Comes to Life
Bhutan is alive with a special spirit in December. This is the time of Trongsa Tshechu, the kingdom’s oldest and most sacred festival, set in the grand Trongsa Dzong. The Himalaya are the backdrop as monks in vivid silk robes swirl through masked dances. See penguin chicks and seal pups
December marks the peak of summer in Antarctica, where nearly perpetual daylight provides ample time to witness the region’s extraordinary wildlife.
