If you’re looking for a winter holiday in Norway with snow and ice, and perhaps some Northern lights, then a winter holiday in Norway is sure to deliver.
A playground for all types of winter sports, Cross-country skiing is by far the most popular. With rolling hills and wild fells, it’s the perfect sport for all levels from beginner to advanced.
Winter holidays in Norway are the perfect antidote to a British winter, with picture perfect white wintry scenes and an expanse of rugged wilderness. Our mountain bases are three to four hours away from Oslo.
Many of our featured hotels are ‘High Mountain hotels’ with access to remote terrain, meaning as soon as you step out the door, you’re in the heart of magical forests, with gargantuan still lakes at their centre and surrounded by towering mountains. You’ll be in awe of the silence that surrounds these rural idylls on a winter holiday in Norway.
Our cross-country skiing tours offer a variety of grades, so you can explore undulating track as a beginner or intermediate skier and then possibly the most impressive off-piste slopes in Europe for the more advanced skiers. There are also opportunities for mixed-activity holidays in which you can sample a number of different types of winter adventures, including snowshoeing and dogsledding.
Never having done snowshoeing before we were not sure how easy it would be but if you can walk you can snowshoe! It was a wonderful novel way of exploring the woodlands around the basecamp with plenty of time to chill in the sauna at the end of the afternoon.
As a complete beginner with no expectations leading up to it, I was left amazed by the stunning location and excellent tour leaders. The leaders managed the group superbly, considering the various ages, experience and ability levels. The accommodation was fun, though a bit tight for space with 4 grown men sharing a 4-sleepr room, I felt like I was at camp. The skiing itself was one of the best things I have ever experienced and can’t wait to try again. Very demanding at times physically, but I pushed myself more than what was expected. A special mention of the food, which was all included. The chefs really know what they’re doing!
Our expert guides know the destinations better than anyone: exactly which spot to stand to get the very best photograph; exactly what time to arrive to avoid the crowds. And they’ll take you to the very best locally-owned restaurants so you get a taste of what real life is all about. These are the people who will help you get a unique insight into what a place is all about, the people who will take you to the heart and soul of a destination.
And, at Exodus HQ every single one of us is passionate about travel and adventure. Together our staff and tour leaders have visited more than 171 countries, and come from a range of backgrounds as diverse archaeology and mountain rescue. We have the hands on experience to help when you need it, and from the moment you pick up the phone to the moment you land, we’re here to take the hassle out your holiday. We’ll meet you at the airport, get you safely from place to place, and provide you with the right kit to tackle your chosen adventure.
