Galapagos Wildlife Trip

An amazing trip, full of exciting excursions, beautiful landscapes, astounding wildlife encounters, amazing weather, good co-travellers and a very informative and easy going leader! What more could you want of this once-in-a-lifetime-trip?

Most Inspirational Moment

Snorkelling with turtles, sea lions, sharks, rays, penguins and marine iguanas. OK, this wasn't one moment, but the whole snorkelling experience was awesome!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Very good, informative, knowledgeable, easy-going, funny.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Bring plenty of sun cream; bring sandals and flip-flops, as well as good walking shoes; make sure you can stand constant movement of the ship, or take drugs; be prepared to spend time in small spaces. Bring binoculars (for birds mainly) as well as a decent camera, zoom not so important, as the animals are very close! Other that that: just do it!

More than a great cycle trip

This trip exceeded my expectations – crossing three quite different countries for our introduction to SE Asia allowed us to experience different foods, customs and sites of interest.

Most Inspirational Moment

Impossible to pick a moment - we whizzed along some delightful rural roads in Thailand, climbed through the impressive towers of Angkor Wat, and soaked up a very special atmosphere as darkness fell on the stilted village and mangroves during the (optional) boat trip to Tonle Sap Lake.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Is, who accompanied us as our guide throughout the trip, was a key factor in the success of the trip. Her sound knowledge of the region and in particular of the routines of rural communities made her particularly good at spotting things/places/activities which she knew would be interesting to us. Opportunities to watch people making items from local raw materials, harvest crops, prepare food etc, and to be able to inquire about their lives, allowed us to gain new perspectives and feel that we had gained from the experience rather than simply cycling past their doors

Advice for Potential Travellers

Cycling on this trip demands more endurance than hill-climbing power.

Land of the Tiger

This was a wonderful trip. Balvinder, our group leader, could not have done more to make the holiday memorable and fun. All the travel went smoothly, the accommodation was fine and the game drives lovely.

Most Inspirational Moment

Seeing my first wild tiger actually in the wild.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Brilliant.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Take fewer clothes that you think you will need. You wont wear then all! Take a dust cover for your camera and binoculars.

Walking in Andalucia

This was a relaxed, no-fuss trip. As a first-time Exodus tripper, I was impressed with the organisation and delivery from the very start to the finish. For solo travellers, peace of mind and feeling safe is paramount. Even in our farmhouse where we stayed for the entire trip. there was no need to even lock the doors to our rooms, keys simply were not required. Amazing!! The trip leader absolutely made it for all the group , I am sure. Knowledgable, charming and so considerate.

Most Inspirational Moment

Too difficult to identify just one experience. Overall, it was just so very relaxing.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Exceptional.

Advice for Potential Travellers

It is super-relaxing. If you are looking for bars, theatre ,lots of night-life, this may not be the holiday for you.

Great walks and superb scenery in the Alicante region

This was a really enjoyable week of walks in an unspoilt and very interesting part of Spain.

Most Inspirational Moment

There a number of memorable parts of the trip, and each day brought its own highlights. It was great to be able to walk in countryside that has preserved traditional ways of farming, and where everyone seemed friendly and welcoming. Being accompanied down the last stretch of the Puig Campana by a stray mule was an interesting experience! Fortunately Jose knew the owner and we were able to ensure that the mule got home safely ...

Thoughts on Group Leader

Jose was great - an interesting and informative guide and good fun to be with. He seemed to know everyone in the area, and to be very well respected.

Advice for Potential Travellers

I'm very glad that I'd got fit before the holiday - the walks were long and there were some 'challenging' stretches, though nothing too daunting.

Brilliant trip!

This is an excellent look at Morocco from every aspect.

Most Inspirational Moment

SJVtaying in the mountains in a small village where most people lived on next to nothing.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Rashid was a very good leader, he explained everything very well and did everything he could to make things good for us, and he had such a lovey personality.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Take plenty of Imodium. The 4/5 hour walk in Todra gorge was in fact climbing up to the mountain top which I found quite challenging. The views from the top were breath taking and well worth it, but I think had I know the extent of the climb in advance I would have declined. Go with an open mind on the accommodation. They were all different and some quite basic, but still this added to the authenticity of the trip.

Fabulous walking in lovely countryside with an excellent leader and hosts

Jose has planned some superb walks in a relatively undiscovered area. We hardly saw any other walkers in 5 days of stimulating, relatively challenging walks. The accommodation as very good and the villages both very welcoming to us as visitors.

Most Inspirational Moment

Reaching the summit of Puig Campana was pretty special, though unfortunately it was a misty day - the only misty day of the whole week. Halloween in Sella, when we had fortunately done all of the walking, was the experience of a lifetime - they certainly know how to party and were only too happy to encourage us to join in, which of course we did :-)

Thoughts on Group Leader

Superlatives cannot do justice to Jose Miguel! He is incredibly knowledgeable about the area and has planned a marvellous week of walks. His management of our large group was very impressive - he let us all walk at our own pace when conditions permitted but was good at keeping at keeping us together when circumstances required. His written and spoken English are very impressive and he kept us all entertained throughout the week with jokes and anecdotes.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Get fit - the walking is quite challenging, comparable to a long day on the Lakeland fells. It is well worth making the effort because the views are fantastic, and the accommodation very comfortable, making it easy to recharge your batteries for the next day's walk.

Highlights of Morocco

A thoroughly enjoyable way to see Morocco, excellent guide, great company, good weather, good transport and driver, good variety of hotels and food, brilliant scenery and fabulous city’s, towns and villages filled with friendly hospitable local people.

Most Inspirational Moment

The changing scenery from the differing mountain ranges to the huge Atlantic waves crashing in on the coast. The sights, sounds and smells of the different medinas.

Thoughts on Group Leader

A very friendly, funny and knowledgeable person, he interacted with the group and ensured we were fully organised at all times.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Take Imodium with you, drink lots of bottled water and steer clear of drinking local green tea unless completely sure the glasses are clean and the water boiled.

Val's Kili addiction

This was my second and successful attempt on summiting Kilimanjaro in nine weeks. On the first attempt I was recommended to abandon the trek at 5,000m because breathing had become difficult and I was suffering the first signs of “freeze-up”. I shook hands with my guide, Naiman, and did as he asked and returned to camp. These guides watch you like hawks and will know the state of your health better than yourself. Respect them. When I returning in October (I’m not a quitter!) I was better equipped and the Kili Weather Gods were kind to us: summit night, this time, was relatively mild (-2 degrees – instead of -14 degrees without the terrific winds we had in August) and reaching Stellar Point and ultimately Uhuru peak just after sunrise was magical as was the icecapes and amazing vistas.

Most Inspirational Moment

Strangely, it was not summiting Kili - though this was a terrific moment for me - but the amazing duty of care, love, fun and professionalism extended to me and our trekking group of 12 by the guides, assistants and porters on this amazing pilgrimage. These guys (and gals) from the African Walking Company (Exodus's Tanzanian agents) are wonderful ambassadors for both companies as well as for Tanzania - nothing is too much for them. They are worth their weight in gold! Meke, Naiman, Viviano, Abraham, Tosha, Innocent, Lucie, Angela, and the caring, caring porter/tent attendant Kai - and many more, they are priceless and a credit to any organisation. Wish we could import them all to the UK!

Thoughts on Group Leader

I had two, of course, because I did two trips with Exodus. Both, Meke and Abraham and their deputies, including Naiman, were amazing. Professional, watchful of any signs of Mountain Altitude Sickness and ready and quickly to deal with it. At the same time, we trekkers were able to examine flora and fauna, superb views and the snap the engaging monkey groups in the sub-tropical zones. But the bond that grew between our 12-strong group of trekkers and The African Walking Company guides and porters, with their fun and Can Do attitude, will remain with me for life.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Go for it! At 66, I may be a little old to start trekking adventures - but this is just the start!

Kilimanjaro Lemosho Route

Amazing trip of a lifetime, would strongly recommend. If you’re thinking about it then go for it, you’ll be more than glad you did!
Met some amazing people who will remain firm friends.
Guides and porters were fabulous and having been home a week now I’ve missed everyone and everything every second.

Most Inspirational Moment

Reaching the summit and sharing the emotion with my new friends.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Amazing - fun, supportive, knowledgable.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Do it!! Take a poncho - it was invaluable to me in October!
