Fabulous Trip

I had a fantastic time in Spain because I was traveling with amazing people. Both houses, where we stayed were great.I will never forget meals in Roc House in Sella, cooked and served by Steve and his wonderful wife. The food was outstanding.

Most Inspirational Moment

I cherished every moment of my trip.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Jose is a fantastic guide, patient, knowledgeable and with great sense of humor. He makes the most creative and absolutely delicious sandwiches and little treat peaces of chocolate on top of the cake who could thing of that?

Advice for Potential Travellers

Take time to look around,to admire the beauty of the mountains. On your free day take the bus to Villa Joiosa. While in Sella go on top of the shrine to watch the Sunrise.

Undiscovered gem (the moonstone walk)

Best holiday I’ve been on
Peru, what can I say?
It was an amazing trip (apart from the flying).
Peru is an absolutely brilliant country. The colours and vibrancy around Cusco was amazing. Giving everyone a free day to explore was a brilliant. Cusco is such a historic town.
The actual moonstone trek was a hikers parAdise. Not another touring group was seen for days.
The sight including the historical values of it all was amazing, and can not be put into words.
This was no means an easy hike, but the rewards at the end was amazing.
Going into Machu Pichu, and rejoining civilisation was an open opener, and this part of the event was very crowded

Most Inspirational Moment

Very hard to have one inspirational moment, however to pick up one. It would have to be watching 2 condors from our camp seranade each other by gliding, almost wing by wing. Our tour guide has said this was a very very rare moment.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Our tour guide was Tina.. She mentioned she was free lance. Please sign her asap. She was brilliant. Her knowledge and passion not only for the trek, but also her country and history was amazing... She helped make a massive difference to the group

Advice for Potential Travellers

Please avoid doing the inca trail, and for something better do the moonstone trek.

South Korea - a fascinating snap shot

This is a different and wonderful country which is very misunderstood. It has a lot to offer from the busyness of Seoul, the beauty of the National Parks to the amazing volcanic island of Jehu. I thought this country would be a mixture of Japan and China yet it is quite different. The culture is fascinating – when they are into something (such as coffee shops, hiking), they are into it big time yet the battle between tradition and western influence is fascinating to witness and observe in different areas in Seoul and in the rest of the country. Each area specialises in a different type of food (Kimchi always included) and this trip gives a great snapshot into different parts of South Korea from the cities (Seoul and Busan) to the DMZ to the countryside (national park and folk villages). This is not a very active holiday and there are not any long trips.

Most Inspirational Moment

The DMZ is fascinating in terms of set up and hearing the views of people affected. Jehu is a beautiful island - stay longer here if you can as although large, is a fascinating volcanic island with lots to visit. Seoul is like a usual capital city, busy but with lots to see (palaces and modern architecture) and lots of exciting districts.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Seony adapted well to the needs of the group and always was helpful and friendly when asked. I think the culture of South Korea is that they don't try to interact too much in free time during or after meals though.

Advice for Potential Travellers

There are 3 days where you have to sleep on the floor with thin or no mattresses. The Buddhist Temple stay is fascinating experience but it it no 3 star hotel! Visit now though as the balance between tradition and western culture and China is very apparent!

Amalfi walking holiday

great mix of walking, local peaks, wooded ravines and steps down to the pretty coastal resorts. Plus the ancient sites of Pompei and Versuvius – both amazing in their unique ways. Lots of steps – feels more like a grade 3 than a 2 at times, but well wroth the effort. the walk of the gods is a highlight. The local red wine was far too drinkable and we were well fed – I was the group vegetarian and I felt well catered for. Albert, our excellent guide, has a passion for for making sure you get the most out of your holiday

Most Inspirational Moment

The view from the peak on day one along the Amalfi coast to Capri has WOW factor.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Albert was fantastic - we were in safe hands.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Expect lots of walking up and down steps, walking poles aren't necessary but some may find they help

HIGHLANDS OF SRI LANKA WITH MALDIVES EXTENSION

The perfect combination – a wonderful walking tour visiting some of the many and varied splendid sights of Sri Lanka followed by a few days winding down in the Maldives! Sri Lanka lived up to its name “Resplendent Island” and the places visited, walks walked, sights seen, people met and food eaten, all backed up by a first class leader, made this an adventure to remember and recommend to others.

Most Inspirational Moment

Where to start? Just when you thought it couldn't get better, Sri Lanka had a surprise for you just around the corner. I can't decide - pick any one moment from these; wild elephants up close, arriving at the summit of Adam's Peak, a soaring eagle, a refreshing swim in a river, the sights and sounds of the jungle, whales spouting, amazing historic artefacts and the most incredible local food!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Group Leaders are the face of an adventure company and leaders of the calibre of Sampath Kulathunga put Exodus in the forefront. The complete unflappable professional, Sam ensured that the group was always safe, well informed, entertained and extremely well fed (despite many special dietary requirements within the group). Longish coach journeys were far from boring, with Sam providing great commentaries on a wide variety of relevant subjects. Thanks to Sam, I felt that I hadn't just visited Sri Lanka, but had been totally immersed in its culture, history and geography. One of the very best Leaders I have come across.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Sri Lanka - Whilst the trip notes state walking sandals, light boots/trainers are better for the time of year we went (very wet underfoot at times and leeches abound). Expect your kit to get damp due to high humidity so packing in waterproof bags helps. Although the overall trip is graded Moderate, the temperature and humidity can make some of the walks e.g. Adam's Peak, feel harder (but very rewarding). Maldives - you can't take alcohol into the Maldives; don't try and cheat, your bags (hold baggage too) WILL be Xrayed and checked by customs on arrival and alcohol is taken from you on arrival and returned as you leave - be prepared for this if you have developed a taste for Sri Lankan Arrack like I did!

Walking in Andalucia

A lovely peaceful holiday. Good walks and I loved the accomodation. Our leader Alex is a perfect leader. definitely one of the best I have ever had.

Most Inspirational Moment

The walk in the National Park

Thoughts on Group Leader

perfect.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Take walking poles and waterproof trousers.

Tiger's Tanzanian adventure

I couldn’t believe how a short period of time can change your life.

Most Inspirational Moment

Interacting with the guides and porters and seeing how hard they work, inspirational.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Charles is an amazing man, when he talks you listen.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Be flexible and social!

A week in Jordan

If you want to see Petra this is a good trip as you get 2 days to really explore

Most Inspirational Moment

Petra- it is beyond words. So much more to the site than just the Treasury. Make sure you climb the 800 steps to the Monastery, it is really worth it. Also the climb up to the Place of High Sacrifice and then the walk through to the valley- this takes you "behind" the main site of Petra.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Very knowledgeable but he does need to loosen up a little- very strict on timings when there was no need to be, making it feel a bit rushed sometimes.

Advice for Potential Travellers

If you are not into diving/snorkelling then the day in Aqaba can be tedious as there is nothing else to do there, so make sure you take a book to read. On the last day get dropped off in Downtown Amman to wander the shops (souks)- make the effort to say hello and thankyou in Arabic and you will be rewarded with warm welcomes and mint tea from the shopkeepers. I was given a keyring from a shopkeeper as a present when I bought a small item from him- I think they are so glad to see people as tourist traffic is down.

ESSENTIAL PERU

We certainly saw a great deal of Peru in the 15 day trip and now I am home and talking to friends about the experience it does sound action packed. However, there were too many early morning starts and long bus journeys for me and that took the edge off the enjoyment as I did not feel at my physical best. The high altitude and my ‘holiday stomach’ being an added complication.

Most Inspirational Moment

The 'home stay' was quite moving, we stayed with a very friendly family. We also enjoyed the floating island, the Sacred valley, Matchu Picchu and Cuzco.

Thoughts on Group Leader

He was very good.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Really think about the long bus drives and the many early starts.

Reply from Exodus

We realise that this a full itinerary with early starts and some long journeys, but we are sorry that Sharon was not at her best during the trip as we realise this must have been disappointing. All of the journeys are in a comfortable bus and we feel that clients see more of the country than they would flying, but we appreciate that some of the places visited are at high altitude and that this can affect people in different ways. Exodus will be using alternative accommodation in Aguas Calientes for our Essential Peru tour from 2016 onwards; we are sorry that Sharon found this property more basic than she had anticipated.

Quite different from mainstream cycling holidays. A brilliant mix of cycling as well being part of the massive variety of vibrant cultures, physical environments and unique wildlife that you experience as you travel through 3 very different countries.

Most Inspirational Moment

Night in the Mystica resort watching the sunset over Arenal Volcano, followed by the fabulous ride the following day around the lake.. The boat ride to Isla Colon and cycling through Veraguas province in Panama.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Memo and his team were outstanding. Professional, observant, knowledgeable and so enthusiastic .. great company..a team that made you smile.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Be ready for very hot and humid weather, that was sometimes more challenging than the cycling ..lots of sunblock, and insect repellent . Take some white arm protectors. Embrace being woken up very early by the howler monkeys..what a wonderful sound to wake up to.
