The Baraka Community Projects
Back in 2008, Exodus united with Baraka Community Partnerships and over the years we have together facilitated change in hundreds of communities across several countries and two continents. Be that renovating classrooms in Debre Chiwa school, Ethiopia, providing life-saving mosquito nets in Zambia, or building hammans in Morocco, our work has stretched far and wide.
Exodus has ventured to the rural village of Tijhza, nestled in Morocco’s Atlas Mountains, for over two decades now and since 2002 we have laboured to improve lives in this hard-to-reach place. Accessible only to the most intrepid travellers, Exodus has funded dozens of projects in Tijhza over the years including eye and medical clinics, classroom renovations, and an ablutions block for the school. In 2014, following a devastating storm, Exodus clients raised £9,000 for emergency funds to get the village back on its feet. The following Spring, Exodus teamed up with Baraka once again to run a volunteer trip committed to widespread reparations in the wake of storm damage. Over seven days, our very own Exodus clients rolled up their sleeves to paint villagers’ houses, fix water pipes, dig permanent irrigation channels, build a water tower, and renovate the local school.
Since 2020, Exodus has been sponsoring the Baraka Learning Centre in Kapiri Mposhi, Zambia. The centre is located in a deprived area and acts as an educational hub for at least 650 children from rural areas that were previously without access to educational resources and facilities. During the pandemic, many schools in the Zambia were closed, and more disadvantaged children were unable to access online learning facilities, which led them to fall behind in their studies. Through our Community Kickstart Project, Exodus have been able to support education catch up workshops for 36 students at the learning centre. These classes will help the young people to progress further and achieve their full potential.
