The amazing Rongai Route

What a great route to choose to get to your destination. You get to see both sides of the moutain the arid dry north compares the lush rainy south. The beautiful extra day at Mawenzi tarn to help with acclimitisation is so worth it. but most importantly living above the clouds for 4 days is just the best.

Most Inspirational Moment

The people, to turn up at a strange airport in an unfamilar country and meet up with like minded people and share a life changing experience what just such a joy.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Mussa our leader had the right balance and was obviously very experience in leading such a big group of people. The guides are obviously checking your health and well being throughout the treck even though you might not be aware that they are!

Advice for Potential Travellers

Take cheap clothes and equipment that you dont mind giving away at the end of your trip. The porters who have carried all your equipment and camp for 6 days will appreciate anything you can give them.

Tour du Mont Blanc camping trek

The whole trip was really amazing, challenging, scary at times, breathtaking scenery. Loved the camping and the bond with the team it gave. The leader John, was the best leader I have had, he was brilliant, would help any of the group at any time, no matter how big or small the problem. Very knowledgeable, and absolutely a natural at his job, I can’t recommend him enough. Claire the cook and ‘mum’ back at camp was also fantastic, she would always be there to welcome us back, with drinks and snacks and info on the camp site. Always a brilliant three course dinner.

Most Inspirational Moment

The Telepherique from La Palud to Aiguille du Midi was a trip not to be missed, truly amazing. The whole trip for me was just brilliant, with such different scenery, from meadows, woods to snow.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Sorry just wrote that info above - brilliant, natural leader

Advice for Potential Travellers

Make sure you are fit!

Mont Blanc Highlights

In July I walked the Mont Blanc Highlights tour. For anyone short of time or concerned about doing the full circuit this a great tour. You get to see the best of the best and are based on Chamonix. I think it is great to come back to the same base each night . We had a delightful chalet right in Chamonix town, with the excellent hosts and chefs. Sarah and Rich looked after us, cooked a delicious three course meal every evening, baked wonderful afternon tea each day on our return and took us to the beginning of your walk daily.
I can’t talk highly enough of the general organisation, Sarah and Rich and the professionalism and knowledge of our guides, Rupert and Jen. I highly recommend Exodus Travels and will use them again.

Most Inspirational Moment

Achieving an ascent of 1,000 metres on our walk to Le Brevent.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Jen, our guide was excellent

Advice for Potential Travellers

Book with Exodus - you won't be disappointed

Amazing panoramas, head earned.

A great week with long days rewarded with amazing vistas and sweeping panoramas.

Most Inspirational Moment

Reaching the top after a 1400m ascent on a 22km day. Tough, but ooooh so rewarding!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Maria was excellent. Well organised, very safety conscious (counting her "ducklings" at regular intervals to make sure all was well) and aware Of the differing speeds and technical ability of the group. All one would wish for in a leader. Possibly would have benefitted from the presence of an assistant. Marshalling 15 people of varying abilities in such harsh terrain seemed a stretch to me.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Make sure you are well prepared and fit. The advertised walking times were always exceeded by at least an hour and a half so prepare for long slow ascents and arguably over hasty descents to compensate for the time "lost."

Bosnia and Beyond

I was impressed by the variety of landscapes and places on this trip: lakes, waterfalls, forests, mountains, canyons and rivers, as well as monasteries, mosques, churches, famous bridges , palaces and fortresses. And all in 11 days without ever feeling rushed!

Most Inspirational Moment

I really enjoyed our time in Sarajevo learning about its recent history and observing how the city is slowly getting back on its feet.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Alen was an excellent leader with near perfect English. He was professional, efficient and knowledgeable. He shared his personal experience of the siege of Sarajevo with us which was very nice of him considering how dreadful it must have been to live through it. He was also good fun with a nice sense of humour.

Advice for Potential Travellers

It might be preferable to visit this area at a quieter time of year. In late July Mostar and Dubrovnik were particularly crowded with tourists,

Discover Sri Lanka, premium holiday

This holiday provides a really good overview of the highlights of Sri Lanka

Most Inspirational Moment

All three in our party had different moments: The views from Lion Rock, meeting a family at a farm and surviving the white water rafting! Plus many, many more

Thoughts on Group Leader

Sujan was excellent. He always informed us what we were doing, and made sure we had enough time to see and experience everything

Advice for Potential Travellers

It was easy enough to get money from ATMs, so travellers cheques were not needed. Most hotels also took credit cards. Be prepared to eat a lot of hotel buffets as there's not much option to eat out

High Inca trail as must do trip

High Inca trail was brilliant. Fantastic trekking, amazing trails and beautiful scenery. If things couldn’t get any better, to top it off we had a really fantastic leader in Tomas Llancay and also a brilliant second leader in Sebastian.
I would highly recommend the high Inca trail as you get to see a small part of Peru that not many other do and we had the trails mostly to our selves.

Most Inspirational Moment

The most inspirational part of my trip was camping at the bottom of Salcantay and then the following morning trekking up the Inca Chiriasqa pass. Though to be fair the whole trip was brilliant.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Tomas Llancay was one of the best leaders that I have had so far on all the trips I have done. We always knew what we were doing and had great advise on what we could do on our free days. Huge knowledge on Inca sites, flora and fauna. Its was also lovely to see the encouragement he gave to Sebastian (our second leader) which allowed Sebastain to talk to us about some off the site we visited on the trail, which Sebastian did very well. He also want out of his way to help my partner find a perfect location for him to propose to me, with out me finding out.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Make sure you have a lovely warm sleeping bag as I was very greatful I had mine as it can get very cold on some of the camp sites.

Mont Blanc Highlights

This was an excellent trip to do. I do have a pretty good fitness level but have not done a huge amount of hiking, however although I did find it challenging it was enormously rewarding and I can’t say strongly enough how fantastic the views are!

Most Inspirational Moment

The views of Mont Blanc are absolutely breath-taking!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Peter was very knowledgeable about the local area (living locally himself) and this helped a lot with the local information. He was pleasant and lovely to chat to also.

Advice for Potential Travellers

I would thoroughly recommend this trip.

Tour of Mont Blanc camping

Wonderful fortnight’s walking in fantastic scenery with excellent guide and support

Most Inspirational Moment

Lac Blanc, going over Grand Col de Ferret in the snow, alternative route from Bonatti hut over Mont de le Saxe, the Bonhomme cold, Le Brevent, the flowers - but really it was nearly all highlights. First rest day took the cable cars from Courmayer to Hellbrunne to Aiguille de Midi on a clear day, an unforgettable experience

Thoughts on Group Leader

Excellent. Kept us all organised, gave us tips for easier walking and knowledgeable about the area. Good pace and well spaced breaks. Support in camp also excellent, everything well organised and fed up well.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Hard work with the long downs being quite hard on the knees but the paths were generally well-graded. Expect anything regarding weather, we had cold nights near freezing and hot days of 30+C.

A Week in Jordan

For years I had wanted to experience Petra. This trip turned out to be about more than just Petra–it showcased Jordan–and in the process exceeded all expectations. Two days at Petra was a wonderful way to experience the site–mile after mile of hiking as the adventure unfolded, we learned about the history and people of the area. We had dinner in the home of a local family where we learned about the muslim religion and way of life. We got to experience a hammam, we enjoyed the luminaria evening at Petra complete with poetry and music. Unforgettable!
We got to experience the beauty of the desert in Wadi Rum and stay overnight in a beouin camp at full moon. The next morning, a camel ride at sunrise was magnificent and unforgettable.
Snorkeling in the Red Sea–couldn’t get enough of it. Swimming in the Dead Sea and taking the “mud cure”. Great experience and hilarious to be plastered with black mud. Bye bye wrinkles! Amman and Jerash–such a rich experience –the hisory, the local color, the wonderful people. A special surprise for me was a birthday cake and celebration–It was wonderful and never to be forgotten, thoughtful and much appreciated! There was so much going on–the pace was just right. We saw as much as could comfortable be fitted into the time we were together.

Most Inspirational Moment

I loved the birthday surprise. I loved the horseback ride and the camel ride. I loved the"aha" moments that were constantly occurring.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Sami was excellent. He was extremely knowledgable, professional, intuitive, experienced and capable. I trusted him and felt safe. He was committed to us having the best experience possible. We loved meeting his daughters.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Expand your horizons. Experience your planet. Live in the moment. Learn thru new experiences and enjoy the inner and outer journey.
