Brilliant Experience

The Western Cape area of South Africa was so different to my first experience in the Kruger area. Outstanding scenery, well organised, fairly easy cycling, homely accommodation. The only negative would be the food and wine was INCREDIBLE so there is no chance of weight loss on this trip!

September 2013 Botswana

A terrific trip to explore the wonders of Botswana. Fantastic wildlife sightings with wild dogs, 6 leopards and honey badgers topping the list but also saw: elephant, lion, giraffe, zebra, impala, buffalo, kudu, sable, warthog, hippo, wildebeast, monkey, baboon, steenbok, lechwe, crocodile, water monitor, puku, hyena and so many birds I lost count. We had an elephant pass just behind our tents and hyena coming to check out the steak scraps in our fire. I would highly recommend for the diversity of animals and environments alone.

HIGHLIGHTS OF MOROCCO

Overall this trip is a great way to see the variety of Morocco is a short space of time. We visited a couple of cities in the north, the desert, gorge, mountains, seaside – all very different and interesting.

Most Inspirational Moment

We had a free day in Meknes where we picked up a local guide who took us round the medina - had a wonderful tour seeing all the local artisans and getting local knowledge about the architecture, people and their crafts - one of our better guides on the trip!! I loved the desert and mountains - beautiful scenery and a great night had round the desert campfire.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Mustafa was a pleasant guide but seemed to focus primarily on taking us to places to shop - we visited a pottery, weaving and metal work place in Fez. Most of the things on sale in these shops were far more expensive then we later found in the souks. Similarly with choice of restaraunts to eat..we were taken to places where we were given a set menu with no choice - far more in food and cost than we wanted.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Essaouira is a good place to buy cheaper souveniers and there is a good selection of all the knick knacks that we saw along our tour. Don't be tempted to buy argan oil products or djelbas at the places you are taken to earlier in the trip --- you can get the same much cheaper here.

We would like to thank Christine for her valued feedback. This trip does give clients the opportunity to shop at locations where local products are produced, however these are primarily included as an insight into the procedures used and to learn about local industries. We have taken Christine’s concerns regarding the accommodation into account; the facilities in Meknes are being upgraded and electric heaters are being installed in the rooms. The gite at Kasbah Oliver does not offer private sinks in an attempt to reduce water usage; there are, however, now four sinks available. The showers in the gite are currently environmentally friendly, solar powered showers; regrettably this can sometimes cause issues with water heating. These too are in the process of being upgraded, with the hope of excess electricity being produced and sold back to the national grid, a positive contribution to the local economy of Tijhza.

Dobbiaco

Once again I returned to this centre after many holidays here , as usual being welcomed as an old friend of the hotel family and staff . There are so many varied day tour routes to ski , the public transport is excellent and the scenery is so spectacular . Snow conditions are almost always good and have rarely disappointed .

Green and Blue

The trip was amazing with excellent weather and views. It was a perfect time to visit with the entire countryside erupting into vibrant colours. Included in this was visits to fantastic archaeological sites that were interesting and gave a real idea of the varied and interesting Greek History.

The food was exceptional and in great abundance, perfect for providing the necessary calories to get over the challenging but not impossible climbs. These gave a real sense of achievement in climbing these and really brought the group together in shared experiences.

Island Wonders trip

Not having been on such a trip with our children (16 and 13) before we were not sure what to expect. Truth was, we had a wonderful time with so many experiences it is hard to list them all here but a few to pick out are the cycling around Sigiriya village, whale watching, elephant riding ,tuk-tuk escapades….

Vietnam in 16 days

I’ve never travelled with Exodus before,but what I liked straightaway was not only the structure,but the freedom permitted on the trip. On other group trips with different companies this hasn’t always been the case. This trip was run by Bien, who made sure we were fully catered for and had an experience of a life time. We went from Hanoi to Saigon,by bus,train,boat and plane. We had two fantastic cycling trips of about 18 miles mingling with the locals, visiting the local markets. We kayaked in Halong Bay and were greeted by a group of monkeys! We were able to wander the cities on the odd afternoons off, catching in the sites and getting in the required amount of shopping! The weather was misty and grey for the first part of the trip which was a shame as Halong Bay was shrouded in cloud,but the weather bucked up as we travelled south. One thing I would say about this trip is how much I learnt about Vietnam. I thought I knew quite a bit but was totally overwhelmed and at times moved to tears by the plight of the Vietnamese people. We could have spent more time in the Remnants Museum it was so full of interesting artefacts and so very moving you needed time to take it all in.
This trip is full on and my only criticism is we could have done with an afternoon on a beach somewhere. The trip visits lots of busy cities that are full of traffic and it would have been good to just chill on a beach for an afternoon,apart from that it was amazing.

Land of The Tiger

Does exactly what it says on the tin!! This IS the land of the tiger. Don’t expect to see then on every game drive but you should see them- I counted 11 different tigers, some in the distance and some VERY close. Absolutely awesome. Seeing the Taj Mahal- wow.

Northern exposure

A very enjoyable week in a remote part of Finland, balancing guided activities with self-determined time. Being taught to snow-shoe on the first day allowed us to explore the area independently, including a day spent on the breathtaking Little Bear walk. The trails were marked clearly, and the occasional bit of challenging terrain intensified our appreciation of the location’s serenity. Also, the tracks left by Arctic hares are amusingly rude in shape.

Basecamp Oulanka provided a welcome contrast to the physical rigours of days spent outdoors, while upholding the ‘green’ principles that such an unspoilt place demands. The comforts of the lodge’s private accommodation – en-suite wet rooms, under-floor heating and external space in the form of balconies or patios – were equalled by the cosiness of the communal facilities.

Cycling in Vietnam Mar/April 2014

The trip was the most memorable trip we have ever done, from morning til night we had the best fun together as a group. The guide we had Long Le was worth his weight in gold, without him it might not have been as enjoyable. He also had the most efficient back up team, i.e the bus driver, the mechanic and the van driver, all were top class. We wanted for nothing and the service provided by all exceeded everyone’s expectation.
