Great holiday - but more of a sightseeing tour than a cycling trip

As I’ve come to expect from Exodus, this is a full-on, very busy trip. We were exceptionally well looked after from being collected at the airport to being dropped off again at the end of the week. Jordan is a beautiful, fascinating country and the people were extraordinarily friendly.

Inka Trail and Lake Titikaka extention

We had a couple of days aclimatisation in Cusco which was good. The Trail was hard but we were allowed to go at our own pace which created our own personal challenge. The porters were a great bunch, great food and banter. The group jelled well under the leadership of Rolando. The 10 hour coach trip to Puno went quickly due to frequent interesting stops. Lake Titikaka was an inspiration and the president of the floating island was a great laugh. The afternoon trip to the burial mounds was ok but could have been more interesting.

A great walking experience

Starting the Camino in Samos makes a lot of sense, it is itself a lovely setting with a great hotel for the first night, a pause before the walking starts. The walking programme was well planned building up slowly, after a couple of days it was easy to walk 25k, particularly as we were blessed with sunny weather and our group was honestly full of really friendly walkers. Even the hotels, although modest, were at least of Premier Inn standard.

A wonderful trip to an interesting country that few of us know much about. The cycling was – well, I think challenging is the word for the first and last day – certainly at the upper end of “moderate” if not beyond moderate, and that would include the opinion of the very experienced cyclists in the group – but don’t let that put you off, as my wife and I, who cycle maybe 10 miles a week at the most, all on the flat, coped with the very mountainous terrain and significant distances. Food was great, if a bit monotonous (and good for non-meat eaters), accommodation varied from a little basic (but perfectly clean and acceptable) in the more rural areas, to fairly good in other areas. Roads were a bit mixed, with quite a lot of areas of potholes and uneven surfaces; traffic was very light and very respectful of cyclists; people were very friendly (although there is not much people-to-people contact), and the landscape was beautiful

What a way to see Jordan!

Tourism by bike proved to be my favourite kind of touring a country, I feel like we all got so much done and seen so much of Jordan than we would have, had we been taking normal transport, as we were always on the move and we covered MOST of the country.
Jordan is such a beautiful country, full of history and holly sites, good food, lovely friendly people.
Seeing it by bike makes it even more special as you get to appreciate the beautiful nature and whizz past villages and towns, say hello to the locals, who encourage you and all the kids who try to high-five you along the way.

Sikkim and Singalina Ridge

I’d never been trekking before, and in many ways I wasn’t looking forward to this holiday much, but I absolutely loved it, especially the trekking. What really surprised me was the quality of the support from the pony men, guides, and especially the cook, or cooks. The quality of the food was very impressive even when it was being carried about a campsite in a hail storm. I would recommend this trip to everyone.

What a great holiday

This was my first time traveling alone since the death of my wife last year. I set off with some trepidation but need not have worried. I spent the week with 15 wonderful people and a group leader( Eric Woolley) who was so supportive to everyone. Yes the hotel was excellent and the food was top quality but it was the walking,the views,and the company that made this holiday so special. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved in helping me get my life back on track. If you find yourself in my situation my advice would be to go for it.

The group leader and his support team were terrific, always happy, helpful and having fun making the experience more enjoyable.

Having vehicle support along the rides meant, if any problems arise no-one gets left behind.
