Beautiful Bali ..

I loved this trip, Bali and Java are fabulous destinations and although cycling doesn’t always lend itself to achieving a full appreciation of local cultures, this trip certainly whet my appetite for a return visit. The accommodation was excellent, even those classed as basic had a certain charm and I enjoyed the coffee plantation ‘homestay’, it was in a great location, if a little lacking in amenities. The trip allowed for some welcome downtime sat around the pool or on the beach, but each day was packed full of great food, awesome scenery, fun and laughter, cultural insights and physical activity.

Most Inspirational Moment

Snorkelling off the Coast of Menjangan Island, it was fabulous! Also camping on Rajewesi Beach and the lovely dinner we enjoyed under moonlight was special, looking out onto the horizon with the soft lights of the lobster boats twinkling in the distance. Magical.

Wira is an absolute gem. Organised, knowledgeable, smiley, patient, great fun, unflappable, fit, and an excellent cook! The way he handled the earthquake we experienced on our first day and subsequent aftershocks demonstrated exceptional leadership. Ably assisted by Wayan who single-handedly kept me alive when cycling through busy city streets, anticipating all dangers and guiding me safely to our final destination. The whole crew were brilliant, sorting out our luggage, repairing the bikes when required, preparing snack breaks and picnic lunches, filling water bottles. A great team!

Advice for Potential Travellers

I found the cycling hard; some days were fast paced and I felt that the group I travelled with were quite competitive. This was my first cycling holiday and I wasn't prepared for the culture of cycling compared to my usual hiking holidays. Some sections of the countryside, including fabulous photo opportunities simply passed by in a blur. I sat out of 4 or 5 sections over the length of the trip. Not just up hills, but very steep downhills and some off-road sections. Wira was very supportive of my decisions, however in hindsight I was far too ambitious choosing to do a ‘moderate’ graded trip for my first outing on a bike. I consider myself to be fit, however my fitness level did not compare favourably with some other members of the group. This in no way affected my overall enjoyment of the trip, but it is worth considering before booking.

Highlights of Albania

Overall a very interesting and informative trip.

Most Inspirational Moment

Swimming in Lake Ohrid and the fish meal, mezze meal with locals, historic houses seeing how people lived.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Klodian was very nice and knowledgeable about his country. He has a good sense of humour and a very friendly manner. He could have given us a bit more local information or directions to the nearest supermarkets or other shops from the hotels. Congratulations to Gheti the bus driver for keeping us safe. His reversing and negotiating of hair- pins was superb. A lovely guy!

Advice for Potential Travellers

Book a direct flight if possible.

Garden Route

We had a great holiday and would recommend South Africa as a holiday destination.

Justin our guide was excellent and showed us the best bits of the Garden Route. He arranged a great safari and we saw 4 out of the big 5. As the sea was too rough we could not go out on the boat but we still saw loads of whales breaching from the shore.

We all really enjoyed South Africa.

Most Inspirational Moment

The safari, whale watching and table mountain we our highlights.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Justin was great, he was very organised and ensured we saw the best bits of South Africa.

Advice for Potential Travellers

If you go in August take some warm cloths as it does get cold at night. This would not put me off going at this time of year but take trousers, jumper and a light weight warm jacket.

Trip of a lifetime

One of the best experiences of my life.
Thank you

Most Inspirational Moment

Seeing Machu Pichu for the first time.

Thoughts on Group Leader

The Best. Holgier. Just simply the best.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Pack light. You will need half the clothes you think you need.

Excellent experience

Fabulous trip watching the wonderful wildlife. The roads are bumpy but that just adds to the experience.

Most Inspirational Moment

Seeing the animals up close and in the wild, especially getting within feet of a leopard. Also loved ilkeliani camp-made for a magical experience. My husband really loved the hot air balloon ride.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Lovely guys and who were respectful of the wildlife, unlike other companies Who we felt got far to close and were intrusive of the animals around them. Everything we asked of them they delivered, I even jokingly asked for cheetah chasing a wildebeest which lo-and-behold they delivered!! We saw every animal we wanted to see. Thanks guys!

Advice for Potential Travellers

Be prepared for some early starts but these are totally worth it. There are no toilets in the mara, it's behind the bushes only so take handgel and anti bac wipes. Take extra spending money for the gift shops and don't be afraid to haggle-Start at least 50% of what is quoted and don't be afraid to walk away. Water is provided in all hotels but only one bottle each a day so buy some water on route to Nakuru as its far more cost effective. Lastly, don't go with a fixed idea of what u want to see- this is nature and there's no guarantee. Be open minded and you'll love it.

A week in Jordan

Excellent Trip – fulfilled all my expectations – our Guide Zuhair was superb.

Most Inspirational Moment

on our second day in Petra spending time chilling at the tea shack by the High Place of Sacrifice.

Thoughts on Group Leader

our group leader was Zuhair - very friendly and approachable, a mine of information and a great style of telling us about places, people and history - selected restaurants all good.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Petra is expensive - stock up on snacks at town before. Road Houses again are expensive - always barter. the 'Set meals' are fantastic - lots of mezze - but there is almost too much food so your could order off the menu if you do not want to put weight on.

Well organised

The tour was well organised and Michaela, assisted by Ado, dealt with everything very well. The bikes are very good but be prepared for some stiff climbs on the first two days and the Mistral at any time. Don’t forget your Camelbak or your sunblock.

Most Inspirational Moment

Getting to the top of any hill then flying down the other side.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Excellent, he managed everything superbly.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Do some preparation.

Really interesting

I really enjoyed this trip, which included some fantastic treks in some of the remoter parts of Albania, Kosovo and Montenegro. Some of the accommodation was indeed basic (as flagged up in the brochure) but the welcome from local folk was fantastic. Some of the food was less varied that I am used to, but it was beautifully prepared – tomatoes, stuffed peppers, locally-made cheeses, very tasty home-made bread, with some more elaborate meals also provided. The walks – about 8 to 10 miles a day – were mainly along good trails, and taken at a reasonable pace. The countryside was very lush and pastoral, far less arid than the mountains of the southern Balkans. Helpful guides, and a very friendly bunch of fellow travellers. This tour gave us a real taste of a rural way of life that has died out elsewhere in Europe.

Most Inspirational Moment

I loved one of the early walks involving a trek over the mountains from Albania, into Montenegro and Kosovo, with our main luggage carried by horses/mules. And, although the hike up and down one of Albania's highest mountains was long and not without its challenges, it was memorable and I'm glad to have done it. The hospitality of the locals was memorable.

Thoughts on Group Leader

I found both leaders to be very friendly and helpful. Our minibus driver was very careful and I felt safe with him driving.

Advice for Potential Travellers

If you like a luxury lifestyle 24/7, it is not for you but if you are prepared to rough it slightly, it is to be highly recommended. The more basic accommodation was mixed up with occasional nights in fair hotels. Well worth doing. Although it was warm, it cooled down in evenings and was dark by just after 8pm.

Central Asia Discovery Trip

A varied trip through three Stans. Uzbekistan very Western with modern cities, and has put a loot of effort into monument preservation; Kazakstan, harder to define, its a really big Steppe. Kyrgistan is just beautiful and largely untrodden by tourist hordes.

Most Inspirational Moment

Swimming in Issyk Kul

Thoughts on Group Leader

Both were really good.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Dont expect too much of Almaty and Kazakstan!
