Awesome Vietnam!!

Excellent support team! Cannot day enough about how well cared for we were!
Trip was well planned with great rest day accommodations. Loc was extremely knowledgeable and shared wonderful recommendations for both sightseeing and restaurant choices.
Excellent trip!

Most Inspirational Moment

Seeing the beauty in the simplicity of life all through the Vietnamese countryside.

Thoughts on Group Leader

INCREDIBLE! Will miss his sensitivity, knowledge, wisdom and humour!!

Advice for Potential Travellers

Just do it!!

Cycling Vietnam

We had such a great time. It was a perfect mix of cycling, sightseeing, relaxing on the beach in a gorgeous country. Our guide Loc was awesome and really knew his stuff. If he wasn’t able to answer our questions on the spot he would find the answer and come back to whomever asked the question. We loved Whale island, Hoi An, Dalat (honeymoon city), and of course Halong Bay was unforgettable. The support for the trip couldn’t have been better. Anyone who couldn’t cycle the whole time could always hop on the bus, there was always lots of snacks for our frequent rest stops as well as a refreshing limeade to replace electrolytes. Our bus driver, truck driver, and mechanic were wonderful and lots of fun. We loved all the restaurants and local family dinners that we had. The only negative things that I can say are: the 100 km day at 41 deg. C needed and extra stop for the last 20 k. Some people were out of water and exhausted with the heat. Also the train ride was great except that most of us didn’t sleep because we were so cold. Too much air conditioning or something. It probably isn’t possible to see so much of the country without as much bus ride but that was a little tiring, though the bus was very comfortable and lots of drinks and snacks on board. Loved, loved, loved the overall experience and recommend it to anyone..

Most Inspirational Moment

Seeing the children by the side of the road heartily greeting us as we went by.

Thoughts on Group Leader

He (Loc) was very knowledgeable and had a good sense of humour. Very attentive to our needs especially the last day when he personally escorted us to our taxi to the airport as the driver had to park blocks away because the roads were blocked off for the Trump/Kim Jon Yeung talks.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Take a warm blanket for the train. We froze. We found that a carryon and backpack was plenty for luggage for two weeks. We just washed things out at night if we needed to. It was a breeze at the airport this way. Take a GoPro camera for the snorkeling as well as for the spectacular views while cycling.

Fabulous holiday, with so many highlights

Terrific holiday from start to finish. There was so much variety, from wildlife to beautiful scenery, amazing caves, township visit and great walks. The accommodation was lovely too and much better than I expected. And our guide, Justin, was fantastic – nothing was too much trouble – he was knowledgable, funny and very attentive.

Most Inspirational Moment

Seeing the wildlife in their own environment. It was definitely worth paying for the extra game drive at the private reserve as we got much closer to the animals.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Fantastic! Justin could not have done more for us.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Worth going on the extra safari. I found the visit to the township very emotional and thought provoking. Be prepared for this as you may want some time out to collect your thoughts.

Highlights of Morocco - Premium

A good overview of the country taking in the major sights and attractions.
Due to the geography of the country there were a some long drives but these were broken up by stops and we were travelling through some spectacular scenery in some cases.

Most Inspirational Moment

There were a number of course, but for me personally it was the ascent from Gorge du Todra and the walk in the Atlas mountains from Kasbah Oliver. Marrakesh is quite mad but that was expected. The camel ride into the desert campsite was a new experience also.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Mohammad was excellent: he was ever helpful, kind and considerate with a good sense of humour as well as a good knowledge of the country. I should mention also Yussef (not sure of spelling) who drove us safely the whole time particularly on the winding mountain roads.

Advice for Potential Travellers

The Hotels were not the best I have ever stayed in, they were sparse in most cases and not always warm we went in February; that is all there is in many places but at least they were clean. Do take heed of the packing list and take warm clothes; fleeces, gloves, hats etc. It can get very cold at night and in the mornings before the sun gets up especially in the mountains and in the desert camping. If you are intending to do the walk up the Gorge du Todra then a walking pole or poles would be very useful and Exodus could well add this to their packing list.

Snowshoeing in the Catalan Pyrenees

Having read the trip reviews from the previous trip in February we did not expect to be doing much snowshoeing. We had an email from Exodus explaining that the unusually warm weather this year in February had brought spring early and to come prepared for more of a walking holiday. However Miguel changed the itinerary round and adapted some of the walks and we actually had plenty of snow! The first couple of days were as expected- beautiful spring walking in the mountains although we did walk in snow on the second day but without snowshoes. It actually snowed above 2000m mid week so we even had fresh snow one day. Miguel took us high in search of snow for the last 3 days and we were not disappointed- there really was plenty of snow and we had 3 great days of snowshoeing. The great days out in the mountains combined with plenty of beers, coffees, cheese and wine tasting and Miguel’s great knowledge of the Catalan history and area all made for a wonderful holiday.

Most Inspirational Moment

Every day had its own inspirational moment so it’s hard to pick out one. But I think the day we started walking from the ski resort was my favourite day. There had been fresh snow fall overnight and it was very cold. When we came out of the forest we were above the clouds. All the trees were heavily frosted and it looked like fairy land! The snow was deep and crisp, the sun was strong, the sky deep blue and it was truly magical! Walking in the National Park was also truly memorable- the snow was really deep and the views of the mountain ranges all around us were magnificent!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Miguel truly loves his job and it shows in the way he leads the trip! He is so enthusiastic and really went out if his way each day to ensure we had a great day and made the most of the weather and snow conditions. He is passionate about Catalan history and the area and we really enjoyed our evenings and the talks he gave. We also really appreciated the his knowledge of local wines!!

Advice for Potential Travellers

Go prepared for all walking conditions! Take plenty of layers! We wore everything from T shirts and summer walking trousers to full ski gear with gaiters, hats and gloves!!

Unforgettable holiday

This was a fantastic holiday in many ways. From booking till the day we left to go home, it was all done with great professionalism. The pace was just right and the group size was perfect. Well done Exodus.

Most Inspirational Moment

Our highlight was the caminito del Rey.

Thoughts on Group Leader

We couldn't have had a better leader than Michael. He offered us plenty of knowledge, and we had lots of laughs.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Just enjoy 😊

Fabulous introduction to snowshoeing, in Dolomites. 1st of many more !

Excellent trip, we thoroughly enjoyed our 1st snow shoeing holiday from start to finish. the area is beautiful, the scenery stunning. we had mostly lovely sunshine, great snow and superb views. The hotel was very nice, friendly and comfortable with nice facilities, lovely to come back to after a longs day’s snow shoeing.
Sara, our guide was superb, she is experienced, very competent, professional, great sense of humour and takes very good care of all members of group, quickly picking up any difficulties.

Most Inspirational Moment

Climbing to the top of Mudlerhof, Lutterkopf, Durakopf in our last day, in beautiful conditions, a perfect final/ last day's snow shoeing. The panoramic views were spectacular.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Excellent. Experienced, very competent, professional, great fun, observant and attentive and quickly picked up if group members needed help/ encouragement.we were very confident that she could get us out of any unexpected challenges, thankfully these did not occur! Nothing seemed too much for Sarah, including Valentines Day treat for each of us, beautifully wrapped., ,post day out "stretch time', always prepared to " go the extra mile " for customers.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Get fit, you do need a good level of fitness for this trip. Bring lots of layers.

Walking and cultural experience in Sri Lanka

This was a wonderful trip with an excellent guide
Neelanka made this an amazing trip
His English and knowledge of nature and local culture was very good
His efficiency in allocating room keys was one of the best – very important after a long drive
We did not need to touch our luggage from exiting the airport to arriving back
Our strap broke and within half an hour it was repaired!!!!
Water was freely available from large containers that we could fill our reusable bottles or containers and complimentary
Sigiriya and the Lion Rock Fortress was an amazing visit
Unfortunately we did not get to the summit of Adams Peak due to the masses of mainly local people. However I did feel the experience was something like I have experienced before with family carrying the frail and old, babies being carried and some only in flip flops or barefeet
Leech socks used and needed

Most Inspirational Moment

Lion Rock Fotress Adams Peak despite not getting to the summit Horton plains Lunch in a local restaurant and then in a local house

Thoughts on Group Leader

Neelanka is an excellent guide and one of the best we have had the opportunity to meet and have guide us

Advice for Potential Travellers

Leech socks Some long distances in varied transport if not a good traveller (not us) Be prepared to be sociable with other members of the group (this reall applies to all guided trips) Some compromise needed at times

Amazing!

I have just returned from this wonderful week. It was such a different experience to anything I have every done – slogging daily through loose deep sand (so glad I spent those weeks beforehand training hard!), wild camping in completely remote desert locations, sitting round a camp fire drinking hot thyme infused black tea, eating delicious feasts produced as if by magic by Youssef, and much much more. Our delightful guide Abdullah gave us such detailed and enlightening information about Jordan and in particular about the Bedouin people and culture who lived in this area and the ancient Nabataeans who created the spectacular site that is Petra and ruled there for hundreds of years. Thank you Exodus for this amazing experience.

Most Inspirational Moment

Those wonderful morning and afternoon snacks and hot lunch and evening meals conjured up as if by magic by Youssef. His kitchen was discreetly hidden behind the trucks and he and his helper brought it all out ready assembled on their fold up table. Wonderful!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Abdullah was so charming and an amazing leader. So knowledgeable, his descriptions of the culture and history of the Bedouins and Nabataeans was inspirational.

Advice for Potential Travellers

I found I'd taken all the wrong clothes for this time of year. Although it warmed up in the day, I didn't have enough warm layers for the evenings and at night camping. Take a really good sleeping bag. Mine was a 3/4 season one but I was not nearly warm enough.

Just as good the 2nd Time

This is the 2nd time I’ve done this trip, last time was only 12 months ago. I pleased to say I had a fantastic time this time around as well.
There were issues with the flight out due to bad weather, so nothing Exodus could have down about that. But they did re arrange the pick up from the airport, and kept us informed informed of what was going on, so top marks for their effort there.
The hotel is very good, the dinner is filling, if sometimes a little unusual. I think a would have preferred a simpler menu. The rooms seem to vary greatly. Last year I had one of the superb rooms that you’ll see on the hotels website, this year I had a room towards the rear of the hotel that was more traditional Tirol style, that was clean but a little tired, specially when compared to the other rooms. However it was more than adequate, after all you don’t come here to sit in your room, you come for the great walking, and you get that in abundance. The walks are well paced , and gradually increase in difficulty as the week progresses. The views were fantastic, there was plenty of time to admire the view, take photos, and stop in the mountains huts for a hot chocolate or something stronger.
There wasn’t enough deep snow to make it worth taking the snow shoes, so we were supplies with crampons, which worked well. On the Friday there was plenty of deep snow, which great fun. Even if I did face plant a few times.
There was plenty of advice and ideas on what to to do the “rest day” and the free travel pass was very helpful here and on the day of the departure when you have the morning to entertain yourself.

Most Inspirational Moment

For me it was the views from Durakopf on the Friday. Last year couldn't see anything, this year, this time we could see for miles, it made the long slog up worthwhile. Then coming part way down on a wooden sleigh. Great fun.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Cant praise Sara's skills enough. Adept at keeping the group together, and encouraging us all to get to the top. Supplied us with loads of local history, and made every effort to speak to everybody to ensure we all got the most we could out of this holiday. She is a very experienced leader , and it showed. Nothing is to much trouble for her. I sustained an injury on the Tuesday, (tripped over my own feet) and needed assistance to get off the hill. Thanks to to her care, and advise I was able to make it back out on the hill after the rest day. She went well above and beyond to ensure I had a speedy recovery.

Advice for Potential Travellers

If you haven't done any winter walking before, you might find it a bit harder than your normal walking, so be prepared for that. Don't forget sunscreen. Make sure your boots are well worn in!
