WALKING THE GREAT WALL

Excellent adventure holiday – just the right amount of physical and mental challenge. I also learnt so much more about Chinese history and culture than I thought I would thanks to our fabulous tour leader Jerry. All in all a fantastix experience and I would thoroughly recommend it.

Most Inspirational Moment

From start to finish it exceeded my expectations. The wall was very diferent to what I had imagined. Each day was different and the variety of the treks really added to the experience.  The most inspirational day for me was overcoming my own fears and challenging myself to walk the 'stairway to heaven' on day 2!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Fantastic. He was genuinely enthusiatic about trekking and the history of the Great Wall which allowed him to teach us more about Chinese history and culture than I had anticipated and it has certaintly wetted my appetite to learn more. He had a great sense of humour, looked after us amazingly well and was there to answer all our questions and help us whenever we needed him. I cannot rate him more highly!

Advice for Potential Travellers

I would advice anyone who is considering this trip to read the exodus grading system. If you do not feel you are physically capable of taking on the challenge then don't go. If you do feel like you are up to it - go for it - it is an experience I will treasure.

ESSENTIAL PERU

Essential Peru packs a huge punch. It’s 14 days of none stop action, sights and experiences. It’s tiring at times but gives you a wonderful flavour of a wonderful country.

Most Inspirational Moment

Seeing Machu Picchu from the sun gate.Flying over the Nazca LinesExperiencing the warmth, friendliness and peace of a village stay on Lake TiticacaExploring the streets of Cusco

Thoughts on Group Leader

Marciel was the star of the show. A consummate entertainer, informer and educator who never failed to go the extra mile to ensure every member of the group gained the maximum from the tour. He was a man so obviously in live with his wonderful country that his enthusiasm swept us all along with him.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Be aware that there is a wide range of temperatures within the day and pack accordingly.Be aware that mosquitoes can be an issue for some people.Be aware that much of this tour takes place at altitude and strenuous activity can, quite literally, take your breath away!!

MT TOUBKAL CLIMB

This trip was one of the best I have ever taken. From the moment of arriving in Morocco to the day I departed I felt like I was looked after and having a great time taking in all the stunning views and meeting new, interesting people.

Most Inspirational Moment

Reaching the summit of Mount Toubkal! The whole group reached the top and it had been a fairly difficult hike due to the altitude, but we all made it and had a lovely picnic at the top, whilst enjoying the extensive views across to the Sahara.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Our group leader Mohamed was excellent. A very knowledgeable and friendly guy, who took a real interest in the group and who we were. He is highly competent in the mountains and knows his stuff!

Advice for Potential Travellers

Book this trip if you want a challenging, but extremely rewarding holiday. Also, ladies, make sure you take clothes that will cover you up for walking around Marrakesh.

WALKING THE AMALFI COAST

This is a superb holiday with just the right mix of walking and sight-seeing. The group leader was outstanding and the hotel staff superb.

Most Inspirational Moment

Walking around the rim of Vesuvius.Visiting Herculaneum.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Christine is the best group leader that I have ever had and an absolute asset to Exodus. She is a consummate professional. From the minute she met us at the airport until the minute we left she smiled. Christine has built up an enormous network of contacts within the local community which meant that the holiday ran without a hitch. At various moments she produced little treats for us, all paid for out of her own pocket. Christine's knowledge of the local area is second to none. This holiday would not have been the same without Christine's guidance and humour.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Prepare for steps! The neighbours can be quite lively.

AMALFI COAST: POMPEII & PIZZA - FAMILY HOLIDAY

This is a great introduction to small-group holidays with lots of elements sure to appeal to families. There was time to swim on most of the days either at the hotel pool or at a beach and this was popular with the children in the group I joined.

Most Inspirational Moment

My family loved the section of 'The Walk of the Gods' and the lunch that day.  The views were fantastic and the lunch was lovely. The water-taxi trips gave us great views of the coastline and a chance to appreciate its beauty while avoiding the twists and turns on the roads. One of the highlights for my son was making his own pizza in the hotel and he talks about it often now we're back home.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Our group leader Eduardo was born in the area and knows it and the people well.  He likes people and is happy to take suggestions for changes to the finer details. The trip included some opportunities you'd need local links for eg to see local people at their work making cheese.

Advice for Potential Travellers

The younger children seemed to struggle with the late dinners and/or late nights. Some were very fractious as the day went on. The hotel dinners started at 8pm so families might like to know this before they book.

WALKING IN TUSCANY

Food was ok but bland. Although the group were asked at the beginning if anyone had any objections to the owners dogs walking every day I felt that the majority group agreement ruled but my interest is wild life whilst walking so hung back from the group when walking, having that said they were on leads and well behaved…I am not a dog lover

Most Inspirational Moment

General landscape of Tuscany

Thoughts on Group Leader

Excellent very friendly, helpful, organised and extremely informative in all aspects of holiday

Advice for Potential Travellers

I felt that some of the walkers were not prepared for walking in Tuscany in terms of footwear it was far more than just rolling hills, the trip notes and advice are spot on

A WEEK IN JORDAN

One word…. Wow!

Most Inspirational Moment

I don't know where to start! From floating in the Dead Sea, being touching distance from Israel, having tea with a Bedouin; sleeping and flying in Jeeps over the desert;.... Just brilliant!!

Thoughts on Group Leader

A human encyclopedia! Very knowledgeable and had a passion for the country that was infectious!  Watch out for being ripped off for what I suspect was swapped for commission and freebies (meals and stops at shopping places) though.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Do it!

AMALFI COAST: POMPEII & PIZZA - FAMILY HOLIDAY

This is the perfect family holiday – great Italian food, perfect weather, friendly family-run hotel and fun days full of activities. It’s also a short flight down to Napoli and and easy one hour transfer to the hotel for the week.

Most Inspirational Moment

I think the best part of the holiday is the interaction with the family that run the 2Torri Hotel - Nicola, Giovanni and the leader Eduardo. The kids loved pizza-making, past-making etc in teh hotel kitchen. The leader also arranged trips to a craft-making shop and also a local mozzarella-making farm. These were all little extras that you wouldn't normally get if you organised the holiday yourself.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Eduardo is the star of the holiday. He knows everyone on the Amalfi coast and can fix any problem. The kids loved Eduardo and he is a genuine people person. He even joined in the football match with the kids - so we had an Italian in the team!

Advice for Potential Travellers

I would say this is a very relaxing holiday and the kids will love the pool at the hotel, whenever there is some down town. Don't worry, you can relax in the sun and keep an eye on them at the same time.Take note that this is an expensive place for tourists and the Exodus holiday includes most essentials. However, if you do decide to go eat in the cafe or restaurants in Capri or Positano then expect London prices or more. However, we full-board on most days so just have a budget for ice-creams and a few extra snacks!

WALKING THE AMALFI COAST

My husband and I did this trip August 2013. Jaw dropping scenery, amazing hospitality at our Bomerano Hotel and awesome fellow walkers.

Most Inspirational Moment

So many inspirational moments...Herculaneum and then standing on the rim of Mt Vesuvius are probably the stand outs.

Thoughts on Group Leader

What absolutely made the trip was having Christine as our tour leader. Such an amazing knowledge of the area, very professional at all times but with that cheeky smile and laugh on show constantly. Such a vivid imagination and lots of funny little stories to keep us amused. Little treats from her "Mary Poppins" bag were totally unexpected but a lovely personal touch from her. Without doubt Christine is the best tour leader we have ever had.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Be prepared for steps, steps and more steps....but it is sooooo worth it.

CYCLE THROUGH SIENA & CHIANTI

We really enjoyed this trip, and are so glad we chose it. What a pleasure to cycle through beautiful Tuscany on some great routes. Every hill seemed to have a village on it, and you get to stop in some of them!

Most Inspirational Moment

Probably riding into Siena in the evening light (we were late).

Thoughts on Group Leader

Great. Thanks Radu and Juan: Enthusiastic, organised and caring.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Well, to get to those hilltop villages you have got to get up the hills - and there are a lot of them! And some are quite long. Also, it was very hot in August, so if you struggle With hills, think about taking the holiday at a different time. That said, everyone in our group managed them.
