Although Siem Reap is probably best known as the place to stay when visiting nearby Angkor Wat, it is a beautiful, culturally rich place in its own right. And despite an influx of visitors, the city has a surprisingly peaceful atmosphere. There is colonial and Chinese-style architecture in the Old French Quarter and around the Old Market. In town, explore craft shops and watch Apsara dance performances.
While you’re here, try traditional Khmer dishes like fish amok – a curry with steamed river fish – and stuffed frogs’ legs. Head to buzzy, colourful Pub Street for reasonably priced drinks afterwards. Beyond the temples, Siem Reap trips offer the chance to visit Tonle Sap Lake, with its floating fishing villages, and the waterfall on the sacred Kulen Mountain (where the Angkor Empire began), as well as silk farms, rice-paddy countryside and a bird sanctuary.

Fabulous well organised trip – saw more of Cambodia in the 12 days than we could have ever have organised ourselves. our guide made the trip memorable with his vast knowledge and passion for his country, he went above and beyond his duties. Some of the days are long and hot but he crammed in as much as he could into the days of travelling stopping at small villages along the way. Thank you Fila and Exodus for a memorable time
This was an interesting trip with a real chance to understand aspects of the culture and history of the country. Activities were varied. Hotels were generally very good. Would highly recommend him for this award.
This was an excellent tour with so many happy memories. I still rate as excellent even though there was an issue with the e-bikes. Having said that, I have contacted Exodus about this problem and they have dealt with my complaint promptly and have a made a full refund for the extra cost of booking an e-bike for this trip which unfortunately didn’t work. If you are tempted by this tour please do book it. It is a long time time since I have toured abroad and now, at the youthful age of 55, I knew it was time to get out there again. I’m so glad I did. The group were fantastic company, all the trip guides were delightful and our overall tour guide, Rit, was someone you could put your trust in so you didn’t worry as you cycled along the roads an visited so may amazing places. You always felt safe as you explored these three different cultures.
