Just WOW

This trip is a full on adventure through Egyptian history. Expect many early starts to visit some inspiring and amazing places. From pyramids, temples, Pharaohs, God’s, obelisks, sphinx, nile cruise, tombs, stories, food and fun, this trip is definitely a highlight of my travels to date.

Most Inspirational Moment

The story telling by are guide using the group to take on roles in history truly brought the ancient Egyptian timeliness to life. Every day was inspirational.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Ahmed was one of the best leaders I have ever had on a trip. He was well organised, knew his history, told stories in such away the history came to life and he was respectful of the group, other tourists and the monuments we visited. Could not of asked for anything more.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Do take USD to pay for the option trips as by card they add 3%. Do arrive a day earlier to Cairo. The local guide arranged for 7 early arrivals a day out to Memphis, Citidel and Sakkara. We also stayed extra nights in Aswan. This meant we dropped out of optional trip to Abu Simbel and spent a day chilling on the cruise boat docked at Aswan. We then made our own arrangements after the cruises left and arriving at 10.30am had the place near to ourselves whereas the group left at 4am and were queuing. Note we were disappointed with cruise room view as assumed we would have a nile view. Unfortunately as the boats dock adjacent to each other we spent the entire trip docked against another boat looking straight into another room. No natural light or air. Not what we expected but all boats the same.

Beautiful trip, great leaders

There is some stunning scenery on this trip, and a good mix of tarmac and gravel riding. Some of the gravel is harder going than others but the team really looked after us – no pressure on pace, and lots of options to hop on the bus or walk a little. Coffee stops and lunch were well paced. I highly recommend this trip which also included a nice amount of chill time in the evenings, and a couple of free days.

Most Inspirational Moment

The conguillio national park. The volcano, gravel tracks, lagoons, monkey puzzle trees, and eco lodge were all amazing!

Thoughts on Group Leader

An amazing team!!

Some reservations

Jerash, Petra and Wadi Rum are amazing!! I’m so glad that I have visited these fantastic places. I wouldn’t recommend going in the winter. The trip notes are not fully representative about how it is. I would also probably advise to go on a walking or sightseeing tour instead as the cycling is a bit limited (lots of sitting on a bike going steeply downhill) and the bikes are not as good as those used elsewhere.

Most Inspirational Moment

First glimpse of the Treasury in Petra Being in the huge expanse of Wadi Rum

Thoughts on Group Leader

Mixed I'm afraid. Very good initially but he disconnected a bit when he started to suffer from a cold.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Go in the spring or autumn. Think carefully about whether the cycling tour is the best one for you

Cycling the Lake District of Chile and Argentina

Thoroughly enjoyable, wonderful scenery, great guides, excellent food and beers (reminiscent of Belgian style). The cycling is physically demanding.

Most Inspirational Moment

Looking out over the Andes from window of Hotel Alma Del Lago in Bariloche. It was the most impressive view from a window that I have ever seen.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Taiel was completely excellent. Skilled, knowledgable, competent and affable.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Take your own bike saddle!

A wonderful trip in beautiful landscapes

A great week in a beautiful place with excellent food, a charming hotel and a fun leader. All you could ask for…

Most Inspirational Moment

Bathing in the beautiful clear blue waters of the rivers to relieve the heat of the day...so - very luckily - this moment happened every day we walked.

Thoughts on Group Leader

He ( Alejandro) was excellent - capable and informed and fun. Sensible (safe) without being patrician. He was perfect for the job.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Go on this holiday!! And take good walking boots.

Brilliant and challenging

Wonderful trip. Amazing trekking. Superb guide (Tomas). Friendly group. Expensive but worth it.

Most Inspirational Moment

The W trek in Chile

Thoughts on Group Leader

Excellent. Great fun. He really likes people.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Try not to take too much stuff. You have to carry it all for some of the time.

great holiday with fantastic scenery

I did this trip October 2022. It was great fun, with amazing views and interesting cycling. There were 2 long tarmac downhills which were exhilerating. I took the bus rather than do the long steep dirt road section over the border crosing – the other 7 in our group all managed that uphill, but the bus followed the same route. Our guides were great; father and two sons team, as well as the yellow school bus. I was very glad I took walking boots for the two free days, (volcano climb and ski resort climb near Bariloche) although more sure footed people could have done it in trainers. Food was very good; hotels a mix of quirky and luxurious. Do not miss the chocolate factory in Bariloche. We had a very sociable group, lubricated with local wines and beers. Bring your best camera and cycling shorts.

dec 22 trip

The whole family loved the trip and everyday even the travel days there was something to look fwd to.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Great trip for all aged kids and teanagers

Nice trip

We had a most excellent guide in Andrew who was very knowledgeable and experienced. This trip offers many of the highlights along the Nile.

Most Inspirational Moment

Nefertiti's tomb well worth the price. The Valley of the Queens is a must-see. Seeing the Pyramids at last.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Amazing. I'd follow him anywhere.

Advice for Potential Travellers

December is colder than you think. I felt safe everywhere. Stock up on provisions if lunch isn't provided. 3 days in Cairo in an outlying hotel is a weak spot in the itinerary. Uber works well for getting around on your own, nothing is walkable from Giza Pyramids Hotel.

Petra and Wadi Rum by bike

I very much enjoyed the program. It kept us busy and engaged. Jordan has a fascinating history and spectacular scenery. It would have helped if your trip notes had been more relevant to the season. Many people were not fully prepared for the cold (which was as low as 1 degree) and the rain (there were floods). Jordan has a well documented 40 days of winter which begins somewhere around December 21st (can up to 10 days earlier) and ends early to mid February. During this time there are storms and very low temperatures. I know this as I have been to Lebanon in the winter but Dezlin was unaware of this, and when I asked her to call the guide to check the validity of the ‘packing list’ she claimed that due to ‘global warming’ the weather was unpredictable. This is not the case. It is always winter in Jordan at this time of year ! She did call the guide who confirmed that it was cold, but many in our group were not informed. Petra flooded the day after we visited. This s not unusual during the 40 days of winter.

Most Inspirational Moment

1. Being in Petra with our guide on Christmas eve and Christmas day: dinner with the family, Turkish bath, free time to walk up to the sacrificial site 2. Our days and nights in the desert 3. Tour of Jeresh 4. Beach morning - cool but sunny I liked it all except the hotel on the first and last nights which is AWFUL. Why on earth would you book people into an hotel with a NIGHT CLUB in the basement ????? We arrived very late on our first night and NO ONE slept. Please change this as friends have asked me if I would recommend this trip and I have said no on this basis. People were exhausted on the first official day of the tour.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Our guide was good humored, knowledgeable and experienced. He knows how to manage his country and was able to navigate the general chaos. He had a great deal to manage and did very well under the circumstances. Our group was was not easy . The weather was challenging which meant that we couldn't cycle as planned, and because there are few roads in Jordan, there were limited options when change was needed ,so we ended up cycling on very busy roads with a police escort just to fill in time. Some people complained about this. They also complained that they couldn't ride ahead of the cycle guide. They didn't seem to understand that it wasn't safe to do that and seemed reluctant to accept that not all countries are safe for cyclists ( which was why the tourist police came with us everywhere we went), and that the drivers in Jordan are reckless and unused to cyclists .

Advice for Potential Travellers

If you go to Jordan in winter insist that EXODUS provides a seasonally relevant packing list so you are prepared for the extremes of temperature which vary from 1 degree and snow to howling gales, thick fog, rain and floods, to 17 degrees and sunny..... You will need, waterproofs, wind-proofs, thin down jackets, base-layers, winter gloves, hats, winter cycle tights, thick socks as well as shorts and swim wear. You really won't need bug spray and hot weather clothing
