A magical trip - best guide EVER!

We had a truly wonderful time travelling around Jordan. Our trip was really enhanced by our fabulous guide, Muayad, who made every day very special as he made huge efforts to provide us with unique insights into Jordanian life and history. It was Ramadan when we travelled and it was not easy to provide meals during the day, buy Muayad worked his magic and we had some fantastic picnic spots eating Jordanian breads, hummus and other local treats. Muayad was incredibly knowledgeable and I feel I have returned to the UK with a deeper understanding of the Jordanian culture and history. The whole trip was meticulously planned and every day had superb highlights, such as camel riding in Wadi Rum, trekking up to the Monastery at Petra, the first glimpse of the Treasury at Petra and the incredible Roman ruins at Jerash. We packed so much into a week but didn’t ever feel rushed.

Most Inspirational Moment

So many... eating dinner with the Jordanian family - first glimpse of the Treasury at Petra - speeding across the Wadi Rum in the back of a truck...!

Thoughts on Group Leader

FABULOUS. The best tour leader we could have hoped for. Muayad's scope of knowledge was huge and his enthusiasm was tangible. A wonderful guide who brought the history and culture of Jordan to life.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Just book it!

Suggestions

Have no doubt when booking this trip.... you will be so glad that you did. One of our most memorable trips and a country to which we would love to return.

Wonderful trip

This is a fantastic trip, visiting many places of historical interest and trying good local food. The group leader had so much knowledge and experience that added to the holiday.

Most Inspirational Moment

Seeing the beautiful Treasury in Petra.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Muayad Mismar was an excellent guide with a seemingly endless supply of historical facts, cultural observations, up to date news and anecdotes. He engaged very well with the group.

Advice for Potential Travellers

We travelled in early April and it became very hot in the open areas. After a long day walking in Petra, the golf carts are a wonderful way to get back to the entrance and well worth the 15 Dinars.

Suggestions

Whilst not detracting from the experience, there were some discrepancies between the holiday description and our holiday experience. At Wadi Rum there was too much light from the camp to see a star filled sky, and there was no traditional music. At Aqaba, there were no "immense views across the Red Sea" from the hotel, there was no direct access to the sea, and because of the arrival and departure times, no opportunity to explore the coral reefs. An extra day in Aqaba would be wonderful. Also, I don't believe that those who walked to the High Place of Sacrifice had a Bedouin guide to accompany them.

Kingdoms of Jordan

A wonderful vist to Jordan not only seeing the wll known places such as Petra, the Dead Sea and Wadi Rum, but visting other historical sites and learning about the culture and people of Jordan who were very welcoming

Most Inspirational Moment

Seeing the Treasurary in Petra after coming through the Siq. Our guide Muayad presented it to us in a wonderful way, and although in a way we knew what to expct it was still a wow moment.

Thoughts on Group Leader

We were very lucky with our brilliant guide Muayad, he imparted his knowledge of Jordans history and culture as we toured the country. He also organised meeting and eating with a local Jordanian family as well as introducing us to the food culture of Jordan. I found Muayad very caring as he notiiced my fear of heights and also helped me to clamber some of the steeper steps.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Jordan felt a very safe country to visit and we had no worries whilst there. also as a hearing aid wearer I would suggest wearing a head scarf whilst on the 4x4 drive in Wadi Rum as the wind can whistle around your ears.

Suggestions

A must see country not just for Petra but also all the other sites in Jordan

Best holiday ever

Wow, what a trip. Well organised, full of interesting places and the best tour guide.

Most Inspirational Moment

Reaching Petra and the way our tour leader lead us to the first peek of The Treasury.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Moaiad was just amazing. He was so professional throughout the trip taking into consideration the guests needs and the local environment. He was passionate about his country and gave us a true experience of Jordan. Loved his sense of humour too.

Advice for Potential Travellers

If you want to see the highlights of Jordan feeling least like a tourist this is for you. Loved the Premium accommodation throughout for that bit of luxury.

AXM: Kingdoms of Jordan - Premium Adventure

This trip was on my ‘Bucket List’, which definitely exceeded all my expectations. The kind hospitality of the Bedouin people, offering you herbal teas along the way. Visiting the night markets in Aqaba and friendliness of vendors. Driving through the Wadi Rum desert on the back of a 4×4 and experiencing a spectacular sunset. As a female traveler I felt safe walking around Amman and the rest of Jordan.

Most Inspirational Moment

The hike to the clifftop - sacrificial alter overlooking The Treasury and views of Petra 5-star accommodation at the Saraya Wadi Rum Camp, whilst star gazing Enjoying a sundowner, overlooking the Red Sea at our own private Aqaba beach. Floating in the Dead Sea at your leisure, in an area designated only for hotel guests. Enjoyed a home-cooked Jordanian meal, which was arranged by the Tour Leader

Thoughts on Group Leader

Ayyad was excellent, his attentive manner made everyone in the group feel special and well looked after. His knowledge of Jordan and delivery of information was first class. Have made a friend for life.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Comfortable walking boots with traction on the sole. You will find an ATM at the entrance of Petra, that will offer the best exchange rate, should you need to withdraw additional cash. Plan your clothing wardrobe to pack, according to the weather for the time of the year, as temperatures are very cold in February.

Suggestions

The WiFi access on the coach was a welcome surprise.

Exhausting, exhilarating, challenging, fulfilling

What an incredible trip! Even though we had been lucky enough to visit Petra some ten years ago, we wanted to come back to explore the country further. Everything we did was very well organised and planned. The hotels were great as was the food. The evenings spent in local restaurants with our guide were brilliant, especially loved the evening walk round Aqaba. Jordan is a lovely country facing challenges, but with so much history!

Most Inspirational Moment

Seeing The Monastery. I never thought I'd be able to do the steps but I challenged myself and I'm so glad I did. The day doing thr High Place of Sacrifice was also staggering!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Ayyad was lovely!!! So knowledgeable but he felt like such a safe pair of hands. He said something to me when we were walking which I'll keep with me forever. Shout out too to our driver Anas....drivers often don't get a mention and he was very skilled and professional.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Warm clothes, layers, lots of socks and comfortable shoes. Some days walking boots will be good but there's some scrambling over rocks so I found my Sketchers we're better for that. But do it - you won't regret it!

Suggestions

I've come back from this trip so amazed by what I've seen and experienced, and so proud of what I've achieved. I pushed myself and I'm so very glad I did!!

Just out of this world in Jordan.

Exploring the city of Amman and seeing the roman Amphitheatre and seeing the ruins in Jerash. The country is mostly sand and it is beautiful. My tour guide Abdullah is very talented. He is the best tour guide I have had and I have travel with other tour companies and had other tour guides. After leaving the city and making the way towards Petra, we drove on The King’s High way. Petra was amazing as the weather was mostly good as there was flooding and heavy rain on one of the day and I loved seeing the local sites the shops and the food are out of this world. The Red Sea and the Dead Sea was also great and I loved swimming in both of them. Wadi Rum and the Jeep Safari was awesome and inspiring. I loved the trip and would recommend it very much to everyone. Jordan is a place you would want to visit and should be on your check list.

Most Inspirational Moment

I loved Petra as they is so much history and culture and also Wadi Rum the star gazing was so cool, made me thinking I was floating in space surround by the stars.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Abdullah is funny, friendly and very thoughtful of all the group. He is aware and helps everyone. He knows so much about the culture, he could easily be a professor at a university. Best tour guide. Five stars out of five stars.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Beware of all the shops as they sell similar stuff and that there is not a lot of alcohol as Muslims do not drink. The weather can a bit cold and there is a lot of smoking. I am from a country where smoking is not a big thing.

Culturally rich and great variety of accommodation

I always find that Exodus trips deliver more than I expect and this was no different. I booked the trip focused on Petra and the UFO camp but have found the country to be so culturally rich and interesting. Our guide – Abdullah was ridiculously knowledgeable about Jordan and it’s history and it was a pleasure to learn so much about the country.

Most Inspirational Moment

Seeing the Roman city at Jerash and the star gazing at UFO camp.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Our guide - Abdullah was ridiculously knowledgeable about Jordan and it’s history and it was a pleasure to learn so much about the country. He adapted wherever possible to suit the groups needs/wishes. He had a great sense of humour and the trip would not have been anywhere near as good without him.

Advice for Potential Travellers

The weather is more varied than I packed for. Make sure you pack for both warm and cooler temperatures and also some evening wear.

Suggestions

The time in the mini bus travelling is long at some legs. Be prepared.

Adventures in Jordan

This was my first adventure with Exodus Travels (though I have traveled multiple times with a similar small group adventure travel company) and overall I was quite happy with everything. I chose this tour over other tours of Jordan offered by other companies for a few key reasons. Firstly, the premium accommodations used, secondly, that it had two days in Petra, and lastly, that it visited Aqaba. I have some feedback related to these points. Though I was quite satisfied with most of the hotels, I and most of the group were quite disappointed with the rooms at Old Village Petra and felt we’d been duped. The picture of the room shown on the website in no way reflects the actual rooms we stayed in which were much more basic. And a little research found that there is only one such room at the resort so a group of 16 would never be able to all have such a room. Please change the picture advertised to reflect the true accommodation provided. As for Aqaba, I was disappointed to hear from our leader that there would be nothing to see if we snorkelled off the beach at our hotel. That was the one thing I wanted to do in Aqaba, snorkel in the Red Sea. Muayad told us about a beach south of Aqaba we could go to independently that had excellent snorkelling just off the beach. Those of us that chose to go were so happy he told us about it and wished we could have gone back the next day. I also found I would have loved to have had more time in Aqaba to walk around the city and enjoy the hotel. I think this could be facilitated by going from Petra to Wadi Rum to Aqaba rather than Petra to Aqaba to Wadi Rum then back via Aqaba to reach the Dead Sea. It would result in more time in Wadi Rum, more time in Aqaba and more time in Dead Sea. That might be my one real criticism of the tour is that it felt rushed and besides Petra, just not enough time in each destination.

Most Inspirational Moment

The wonder of Petra. The vastness of Wadi Rum. The warmth and hospitality of the Jordanian people.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Muayad was a great leader, extremely knowledgeable, organized, generous, helpful, and even organized a couple delicious and memorable group meals. A homemade meal at a local family's home in Wadi Musa and a Mansaf and Kunafa meal at a restaurant in Aqaba. He kept saying "hospitality is our middle name". I think it might be his first.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Be prepared for a fast paced week. Be prepared for a lot of walking and climbing to fully explore Petra. It's an exhausting couple days but so worth it! Eat as much Jordanian food as you possibly can.

Culture

Great trip but very very busy. Arrive at hotel at 1.30 am and then an 8.30 start the following morning. Then 3 consecutive early morning starts and long-upto 13 hour days. Sites visited are all great but not really any opportunities for downtime or to use the hotel facilities.

Most Inspirational Moment

Wadi rum is probably the best bit but enjoyed snorkelling in the Red Sea, which was an extra for us

Thoughts on Group Leader

Really good and helpful, very well informed. There was an expectation we would want to do everything but did accept we needed some down time from the hectic schedule

Advice for Potential Travellers

This is a full on trip. Not sure it can really be described as leisurely.

Suggestions

If it was 2 days longer I think this would be a perfect way to see Jordan
