Relaxing and Interesting Holiday

A good balance of sight-seeing, walking and enjoying local ambiance in a beautiful part of Italy. Not as rushed as some Exodus holidays but still full of interest. Time to enjoy cappuccino, gelati and wine. Beautiful walks along the Amalfi coast Great local hotel with excellent food and plenty of vegetarian choice.

Most Inspirational Moment

Going up Mount Vesuvius. Sentiero del Dei. Villages of Amalfi Coast.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Paul was a star. Very attentive. Excellent local knowledge.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Really enjoyed going in November. Weather still warm and mostly sunny with none of the crowds normally associated with this part of Italy.

Nicaragua-Costa Rica- Panama Cycle Tour MUC

We had a great time in our central America cycling tour. Beautiful scenery!

Most Inspirational Moment

Cycling through Nicaragua, a country I had only heard about political turmoil. It is a great place, with great people, great landscapes and very interesting history.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Andrea is an excellent guide tour. She knows a lot about Nicaragua and Costa Rica. Paul the mechanic was also great setting the cycling pace and attending to all our bike needs. Sabo the driver was very professional and efficient. We didn't quite understand the role of Diana the American extra guide.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Be prepared for long transfers. The cycling is not as hard as other tours with the same rating, cycling distances are much shorter. Lots of rain.

Whistle stop tour of Southern Iceland

Great first experience of a group holiday. Couldn’t have asked for a more friendly bunch of people to spend 5 days with. Well organised and we couldn’t possibly have fitted anything else in. There wasn’t even time to look in the visitor shop sometimes – but I coped!

Most Inspirational Moment

Jokulsarlon Lagoon at dusk was wonderful. No Northern Lights :( Will just have to go back!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Organised, very good local knowledge, good sense of humour. He had to re-organise some visits because of the horrible weather we had for a day which left us marooned in our hotel for nearly 24 hours - all part of the adventure! Sometimes I wished we had been given a bit more information on what was happening the next day and what we needed to have with us.

Advice for Potential Travellers

I was really glad that I arrived a day early (not planned, but as I flew from Edinburgh I had to go Tuesday rather than Wednesday). I was able to spend a day in Reykjavik which wasn't part of the tour - but I think it should be! Take warm trousers and waterproofs! The weather can change in an instant from very cold and sunny to up to 120mph gusts and rain! The first hotel website (Klettur) suggests that the rooms don't all free WiFi but they do.

Fun and Challenging Weekend away from the Office

This was a very good trip, and ideal for those who find it difficult to get the time off work for adventure, or in particular, those whose inbox floods if you take too much time off! The scenario around the summit of this peak is beautiful and the climb itself is a good test, but very achievable for those with a decent level of fitness.

Most Inspirational Moment

Reaching the top and seeing the landscape around me. It really is beautiful. Also, sleeping on the roof of the mountain hut due to it being too busy was great! It's those small things that make a trip an adventure.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Due to the time delay in writing this, I have forgotten his name, but he was an older gentlemen who was very knowledgable. I have been used to trips with quite a number of guides, so it was different operating with just one on this occasion. He could be a little impatient with some of the group, but ultimately he just wanted to get everyone to the top and down again within the weekend.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Do brace yourself for the mountain hut. It gets rammed! But it's full of all nationalities and as long as you don't mind joining in the fun, you will love the chaos. If you are very into your vanity in private quarters, I suggest seeking an alternative accommodation.

cycle Indochina & Angkor

I thought the whole of the trip was excellent and very well organised. Nee and all of the staff in the 3 countries visited gave a very good service with a smile. Nothing was too much trouble. Nee made the trip memorable.

Most Inspirational Moment

..The visit to Angkor Wat and the cycling in Vietnam.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Excellent

Advice for Potential Travellers

The flight to save the 6 hr bus transfer was worth doing.

A wonderful trip

I’ve wanted to cycle Cuba since I first visited in 1998 and saw cyclists arrive at my hotel. Yes, it’s taken me a long while to finally get there and I was afraid I may be disappointed but this is a brilliant trip that will leave you wanting to do it all over again.

We were lucky to have Freddy as our guide and he was an absolute professional. Every step of the tour was designed for us to get the most out of each day and evening.

Most Inspirational Moment

There were plenty. Diving in the cave of fishes, swimming in the Caribbean, dancing in Trinidad, sharing my 50th birthday with the group, reaching Hanabanilla and seeing the view, cycling through stunning countryside.

Thoughts on Group Leader

A consummate professional. We were lucky to have Freddy as our leader.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Read the travel notes and the reviews. The travel notes are very accurate and give you a good idea of what to pack. The traveller reviews are full of good ideas of what to take like a gel saddle, loo roll, torch, F50 sunscreen. Expect to find some of the accommodation a little basic but all was habitable. Relax and enjoy the experience as it passes in a flash. Say yes to every suggestion to go to a local bar, family home or club and you'll see the real Cuba.

Imperial China and Yangste River Cruise

Excellent overview of the main sites in China.

Most Inspirational Moment

Seeing the pandas they were lovely. It made me realise how delicate and fragile nature is, these animals would struggle to survive in the wild In complete contrast the 3 gorges dam project was a huge technological undertaking, I wondered if the disruption it caused was justified

Thoughts on Group Leader

Ting-Ting was excellent. She managed the group over a very long and exhausting holiday.

Advice for Potential Travellers

There are three overnight train journeys. You have to carry your own luggage over considerable distances to and inside the station. Pack as light as possible.

Morocco

Great to travel round so much of Morocco in such a short time.

Most Inspirational Moment

Camping in the desert and being able to sleep outside.

Thoughts on Group Leader

He was very good of getting us all organised and he was very knowledgeable. M

Advice for Potential Travellers

Make sure you organise yourself as there is no real time to sit and think .

top time and top group

For me the photos. There was a stack of things to see and the locations, the quiet roads for cycling even the restaurants meant that there was always something to see and photo.

Most Inspirational Moment

There is something lovely about the way in which a shared experience means this group travel was a delight.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Diane tended to our every need and our estimated over 1000 questions during the trip.

Advice for Potential Travellers

If you are bringing your bike as hold luggage (not sports equipment) then be prepared for a debate at check in. Get a print off (or a link) of the relevant section of United Airlines baggage conditions (you can ask Exodus to send it to you) as the check in staff do not know their own rules.

Ancient Sites, Friendly People

This was a tour of an amazing country. Turkey is an amalgam of people that have arrived over the centuries, leaving behind a wonderful heritage; there are so many ancient sites that the local population have lived alongside and only recently begun to appreciate. And yet it is amazingly self-sufficient in the modern climate of globalization.

Most Inspirational Moment

Termessos was my highlight site. It is in a natural state, and our group was virtually alone there, allowing us time to wander, explore, contemplate. This contrasted with Ephesus, which has been partially restored, but was busy with cruise ship crowds. Istanbul's Blue Mosque was fantastic, but so too were sites not on the itinerary. Such as the caravanseri at Saltanhani, and the restored wooden Esrefoglu Mosque at Beysehir. The Museum Of Anatolian Civilisations, and Antikabir were other highlights. We were amazed to find Kemal Ataturk is so highly revered even today. And of course, being Kiwis, and having relations who fought and died at Gallipoli, this was an amazingly special place. The balloon ride is a not-to-be-missed highlight. Our flight had to be rearranged for the 2nd morning in Goreme after the first flight didn't go ahead due to low cloud.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Zafer was an excellent guide. His knowledge, enthusiasm and pride for his country was evident throughout the journey. Long days in the coach would be broken up with history lessons on upcoming attractions, explanations of modern Turkey, and then at the appropriate moment he would throw in some humour to lighten things up. He was always available to answer questions and help make our trip memorable. On the 'free' day at Fethiye Zafer took us to the Lycian rock tombs, the Kayakoy village, then a swim at Oludeniz followed by buying us all ice-creams. It was a wonderful gesture. Zafer took us to group dinners most nights at local restaurants; these are cheap and authentic. By comparison, dinner at the Antalya resort hotel was very average and expensive. A memorable lunch spot was an out-of-the-way riverside restaurant near Aspendos.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Our tour was in September, and it was very hot in the south, as stated in the trip notes. And Turkey is a big country, there are many miles spent on the coach, and some unexciting roadside lunch places. Try to enjoy it all. I enjoyed a wonderful hamam in Fethiye. Do it! And don't miss out on the balloon flight! There is more to Istanbul than what this tour has time for; allow extra time before or after the tour. We also traveled back to Gallipoli for a few more days of leisurely exploration and relaxation.
