Turquoise Coast

Our group was a mixture of couples and singles .we appreciated our guide taking us to his choice of restaurantsin the evenings ,and apart from One we had excellent service . The supper and boat trip on last evening was great fun especially seeing turtles

Most Inspirational Moment

Spectacular views on all our walks . Didn't appreciate we'd be walking through so many historical sites/ aqueducts . Most inspirational was the kayaking day to the sunken city .

Thoughts on Group Leader

Tourget was fun to be around ,always cheerful even when he ruined his mobile kayaking ,he didn't complain ! We all loved him .our driver was also brilliant .

Advice for Potential Travellers

If you want a modest hotel ,with friendly attentive staff then this is for you .be aware though that the 5am call to prayer is only one block away and is attached to a loudspeaker . This then produces a cacophony of sounds from the local wildlife ....dogs ,cockerels ect . However the gin and tonics (£2.50)by the pool in the evening made up for that .dont expect complimentery bottles of shampoo ect in your room either. You do get a change of towels half way through the week however . Plus you can hire beach towels for a few TLira .walking boots / shoes essential .

Evia

Well looked after and group was a good one. Eating in different tavernas was fun.

Most Inspirational Moment

For me it was seeing the old ruins especially the quarry and walking on Roman paths. The wonderful smell of thyme and herbs.

Thoughts on Group Leader

She was lovely. Really cared for us. As one of the slowest I was not forgotten.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Don't expect 5 star resort treatment. All is clean, comfortable friendly with plenty of food. Really good value for money. View from the rooms at the front is good but you do have to put up with traffic/people noise so take ear plugs.

Cinque Terre and Portofino Walks

Walking along the calming coastline and resorts of Ligurian sea.

Most Inspirational Moment

Walking along the vineyards between the Cinque Terre villages overlooking great coastline scenery.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Warm welcoming chap who integrated the group well. Organised all the transport, restaurants and events with no fuss. Eric was able to cater for those who did not wish to walk or who had injuries.

Advice for Potential Travellers

There are some steep climbs and descents on a couple of days.

WALKING IN TUSCANY

This was an exceptional trip with great accommodation and walking under the direction of Sara a really experienced and hard-working guide.

Most Inspirational Moment

The setting of the villa overlooking a fantastic Tuscany valley.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Sara was quite exceptional.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Take appropriate precautions to deal with ticks.

Toubkal Climb June 2015

Great trip, lovely scenery.
This trip is ideal for seasoned mountain climbers and newbies alike.
Great weather this time of year – means amazing views
food was amazing!
freshly squeezed orange juice ( at most appropriate times!!!) was fab

Most Inspirational Moment

Summiting in glorious sunshine and looking out over the mountain rage - incredible view

Thoughts on Group Leader

Very good. He got involved in the group and looked after us all very well.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Make sure you take full range of clothes ( summer to winter gear) it is very warm during the day ( first week in June) but cold at night. Summit day was very windy so a good windproof top is highly recommended. There is bottled water available throughout the trip so you dont need purufication tablets. Price is about 10-15 dirhams a bottle. I strongly recommend walking poles (specifically for the summit day) there is a lot of loose scree and they do help with balance.

Beautiful Madeira

This was a fantastic trip full of scenic variety, stunning views and lots of flora.

Most Inspirational Moment

Days 4 and 5 were challenging but well worth it for the sense of achievement and magnificent views. Reaching the highest point on Madeira and being above the clouds was definitely a highlight as well.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Andre was brilliant! He had a great sense of humour, made sure every one in the group was safe and got the most out of their trip and imparted his passion for his home island on all of us.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Walking poles are a good idea (though not essential). Bring a good sun hat, plenty of sun cream and a good camera to capture some of the scenery.

cinque Terre and Porto Fino BY babs

Fantastic trip on the LIGURIA coast north of Pisa. Every day the walks showed different aspects of this stunning landscape. Walks through forests ( good in the heat) along terraced vineyards, olive groves and old mule tracks. Stopping at the famous Cinque Terre villages for lunch that jut out into the azure sea on rocky promontaries.

After a day walking feast on delicious seafood and local ligurian wines. Get to the start of walks using the local trains that show you glimpses of sea inbetween tunnels.

Most Inspirational Moment

Porto Fino is like a film set so beautiful. Eating at la Ruota restaurant high in the hills overlooking the bay at Moneglia for a six course meal with wine. On my free day i visited Genoa a lovely city and port to stroll around

Thoughts on Group Leader

Eric Woolley is a first class tour leader. Passionate about walking and knowledgeable about Italy. We were welcomed and well organised so as to maximize our time every day. His sense of humour helped us enjoy even the most challenging bits of the trip!

Walking The Amalfi Coast

Amazing scenery, great company, Christine our wonderful guide, exceptional family run Hotel. Walk is classed as Leisurely/Moderate but realised once there that it is Moderate walking at a Leisurely pace (depending on your group). To enjoy the walk you would need an element of general fitness, this is due to the descent and ascents and numerous steps. But it is perfectly ‘doable’ as our lovely guide Christine would say. At the end of the week we really felt as though we had achieved something.

Most Inspirational Moment

Pompeii/Vesuvius. The amazing scenery. Lovely group of people.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Christine our group leader was absolutely lovely, worked over and above her call of duty, was always very informative about the walks and what was required. Christine looked after all her group whilst on the walk and at the hotel and encouraged the stragglers (me). It was lovely that she would socialise with us at meal times too giving us all a chance to get to know her better.

Advice for Potential Travellers

We did think this would be a more leisurely walk and found it difficult to start with but we always managed to complete the walk. Wear sensible comfortable shoes, take appropriate cool clothing and a hat as it does get quite hot, drink plenty of water which, is always encouraged and snacks/sweets to keep up your strength. Moderate walking on the coast line does require a level of fitness. Walking sticks come in very handy.

Amazon Rainforest and the Inca Trail

This is the first trip I have taken with Exodus and couldn’t have wished for a better company.Nothing was too much trouble.we started our trip in Lima where we met our wonderful guide for the whole trip.Holgar gave us a. Fascinating tour or downtown Lima telling us all the history and suggested places for meals.there was no obligation to join the group if you didn’t wish to do so.the next 3 days were spent in the Amazon and we had 2 more guides to tell us about the jungle. On arrival in the jungle our adventure began. It was dark and wellies were donned for our night walk in the dense jungle where we were introduced to the beautiful insects and sounds .Be prepared for the high humidity and cold showers! There is no electric in the lodges only candle light but it added to the experience! On the second day we were woken up at 3 am to go by boat to see the Macaws which was a beautiful site.the guides Uri and Leo were very helpful and knew lots of info about the jungle. On day 3 I had a little accident which resulted in an injury on my toe. This required medical attention once back in Cusco.Holgar was extremely helpful in arranging this and handled the situation well. After our jungle adventure it was on to Cusco where you need to take it easy and acclimatise. Its a beautiful city with lots to see.again Holgar recommended a lovely restaurant. After 2 days in Cusco we were all getting prepared for the Inca trail. It is tough and you need to be fit especially for the second day climbing up to 4,200 metres up to Dead woman’s pass.We had 2 guides on our trek one at the fro t and Monica who stayed at the back.the walk was taken steadily and there were lots of rest breaks on the way.Monica was fantastic as I struggled with the steps going down to camp on the second day and she even stopped to give me a massage on my legs !id certainly recommend using poles as I couldn’t do it without them.On day 3 we walked on the original Inca steps going down 1,000 metres which is hard if you have dodgy knees.the whole experience was amazing and the scenery was jaw dropping. On reaching the sun gate and seeing Machu Picchu for the first time was quite an emotional experience knowing you reached the end and seeing the site was amazing. Our group decided to stay in an hotel for the last night instead of camping for a much needed shower although I surprisingly enjoyed the camping.the porters and chefs were wonderful and food was like Michelin star!for the last part of our trip we visited Puno and Lake Titicaca for our home stay.the people and the islands were beautiful .The homestay was an humbling experience .there were 4 of us who stayed in Floras house and she made us feel most welcome and I felt like I’d made a friend at the end of it.The whole holiday was like 3 different holidays in one and I really enjoyed all the different experiences.the only fault I could find was all the tipping as we were encouraged to tip all the many guides ,drivers boat men ,cooks and porters.I think this should be taken out in the cost of the holiday as it can be embarrassing if you find you are short of money.Overall the trip was amazing and Exodus had got it just right.Be prepared for lots of early starts and lots of travelling but it was wort it. We will have lots of happy memories for years to come!

Most Inspirational Moment

Completing the Inca trail and seeing Machu Picchu from the Sun gate.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Holgar went overboard to make sure we all had a great experience. He had so much knowledge .he helped me no end when I had my accident and arranged the Dr and even took us out for a meal after I'd been to hospital!

Advice for Potential Travellers

Be prepared for lots of tipping as there are lots of guides ,drivers ,boatmen to tip.Make sure you get fit as it is tough and be prepared for the altitude in Cusco and Lake Titicaca .I took Diamox and had lots of Coca tea which helped.

armenia nd Georgia Holiday May 2015

A 5 day viewing of Armenia’s highlights then 7 days exploring historical sites and some tourist spots in Georgia.

Most Inspirational Moment

The cave dwellings at Uplistslikhe, an amazing lifestyle depicted, and the wine tunnels in the Kareba winery plus the serving of lunch beneath the trees there with a small waterfall tinkling in the background. Also the Tatev Monastery, reached by cable car over a deep valley.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Anna spoke very good English and was very knowledgeable of the history of places we visited. I must admit she did talk for almost an hour on the history of places to be visited on one day which was far too long for us all to remember and absorb what she was saying. I felt she was young and given time will become more au fait with tourists needs, perhaps a little more warmth in her approach to people.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Be prepared to walk about 400 metres at the border crossing between Armenia and Georgia, in the heat. We were not informed of this beforehand and we found it quite a drag with our luggage.
