Most Inspirational Moment
The preparations for Tet were lovely to see; the elephant ear fish in the Mekong Delta was fantastic. Halong Bay was stunning, and offered a sense of mystery in the cloud and rain. The cooking lesson in Hoi An was excellent. The lanterns lighting the town were gorgeous. The War Remnants Museum in Saigon, and the Cu Chi Tunnels, were grim reminders of an illegal war, from which Vietnam continues to suffer horrific effects. Angkor Wat was amazing - I wish we could have spent longer there.
Thoughts on Group Leader
Hoc was very knowledgeable, but at times we were very rushed to see and do everything on the schedule. Unfortunately, we did not have an opportunity to visit My Son - I assume due to time constraints.
Toneth (for Angkor Wat) was also very informative.
Advice for Potential Travellers
Take an overnight bag - you will need it for Halong Bay and for the Mekong Delta (maybe this could be added to the trip notes?). If you like to leave contact details with family, check with Exodus - three of the four hotels listed in the trip notes had changed, and the Mekong Delta hotel was missing.
