Cross country skiing Dobbiaco

A fantastic week of beginners skiing around the Dolomites. We had excellent tuition from Alex, the hotel was very comfortable with the added bonus of pool, saunas and steam rooms at the end of the day. Food was delicious.

Most Inspirational Moment

Being able to come down hill in control! It was a great feeling when you got the technique right and were able to glide along in the beautiful scenery.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Alex was a first class leader and teacher. He had all sorts of tricks and tips to help us improve including the use of felt penguins and skiing down with chocolates on a tray - you got to eat them if they stayed on! Even had a quick game of one legged football. Snow on the mountains was limited but the tracks were fine as they bring in fresh snow. Alex took us to different areas according to the best skiing.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Have a small lunch in preparation for a 5 course evening meal.

Another good Exodus holiday

We really enjoyed our recent trip to Sri Lanka. This was our fifth Exodus holiday and did not disappoint. However, the weather was really bad for the first 8 days. This is not usual but it was a shame. We still enjoyed the activities and when the sun did finally appear, we really appreciated it. The trip is varied …some enjoyable walks, interesting scenery, fantastic wildlife and lovely people both on the trip and in Sri Lanka generally. The local people are very friendly and we always felt safe wandering about in the towns. The standard of accommodation was very good..some were excellent.

Most Inspirational Moment

We enjoyed the walk in Horton plains followed by great street food at a local cafe and then a train ride on a very packed local train with great views of the countryside. Galle was a very interesting town based on an old Dutch fort. Whale watching was fantastic. Staying at the Hill club hotel in Nuwara Eliya was fun. They bring hot water bottles to your room! The climb up Lion's rock was a highlight.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Roshan is very experienced. He has led this trip over 200 times so knows the route well. He organised everything very efficiently and gave us plenty of useful information as we went along. The driver Garmini and his mate Nisha were very good too. The driver made us feel safe at all times. He was amazing in some situations! They were a good team . Nisha was on hand with the umbrellas when it rained.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Take a waterproof! You need good trainers but not walking boots. You don't need to take formal clothes for the Hill club....men can borrow jackets and ties. Change money at the airport...about £200 per person and then you can get more if you need it in Kandy. The food is very good....lots of rice and curry but there is great variety. Plugs vary...take an adapter but some hotels have UK sockets. Take swimming costumes..several hotels have pools. No need for towels. Take a hairdryer....most hotels provide one but not all. Binoculars would be useful..lots of colourful birds.

Vietnam cycling trip

A vey well organised group with experienced friendly leader and his team. great group of fellow travellers. varied itinerary with wide range of travelling experiences.(bike, train, boat) and excellent accommodation and food. T^he bikes were maintained in excellent condition,

Most Inspirational Moment

Cycling down a 30km descent in torrential rain !

Thoughts on Group Leader

Lam was fanatstic.Experienced, helpful with great attention to detail . He had an amazing knack of delivering bad news (e.g steep hill coming) whilst smiling all the time! His back up team of drivers and mechanics were also very friendly and helpful

Advice for Potential Travellers

Vietnam is not quite as flat as you might be led to believe. There are plenty of "undulations "but still amazing cycling away from the usual tourist haunts

Fantastic Iceland Break

Although we were unable to see the Northern Lights due to the overcast conditions this did not detract from the fact that this was a real Icelandic experience that we thoroughly enjoyed.
Excellent program of things do and see let by Orri our very enthusiastic, knowledgeable and friendly guide. His knowledge of Icelandic history and Icelandic tales added to the enjoyment of the trip.
The variety of the program and timings meant that we had lots to do and see avoiding more busy times of the popular locations.
The hotel Laki which we stayed in for two nights was especially nice and well located.

Most Inspirational Moment

The day that we did the glacier walk.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Orri was excellent and just made the trip all the more enjoyable. As above his knowledge and how he put that across was both entertaining and informative. He also kept a close eye on everyone to make sure that they were comfortable with the activities and enjoying themselves.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Don't worry too much about seeing the Northern Lights as there is so much more to see and do on this trip. They are just a bonus. Both the glacier walk and the cave walk provide experiences that you will not be likely to try again.

Finnish Wilderness Week

A beautiful journey of snow filled landscapes and frozen lakes. Looked after from arrival to departure. Delicious hot food every day and competent friendly and efficient staff

Most Inspirational Moment

Storytelling in the dark by leader Henri. One seriously creative and skilled guy like a great teacher one never forgets the

Thoughts on Group Leader

Dedicated and hard working to ensure we were all looked after at all times. Incredible knowledge on all levels yet humble and funny. Someone I will never forget and use as an example of goodness and kindness yet strong and inspiring

Advice for Potential Travellers

Go! Experience the challenges and embrace the Finnish culture and hospitality

A wonderful trip

Although we weren’t lucky enough to see the Northern Lights, we saw so many great things that it didn’t really matter.

Most Inspirational Moment

The glacier walk was amazing; once I got over the thought that I wasn't going to slip on the ice (the crampons keep you on your feet), it was wonderful. Not to be missed.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Orri Sigurjonsson was a wonderful guide. He drove the minibus, guided us round southern Iceland, told us about the culture, history and people of the country with great knowledge, told us fairy tales of the trolls and dragons as well as feeding us chocolate, biscuits and crisps. He was funny and informative at the same time, an all-time good guy and he really made the trip special.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Don't worry that you'll feel disappointed if you don't see the lights, I'm sure you won't, there is so much else to see and do, especially if you've got a good guide with you.

Hard cycling - stunning landscapes!!

Leaving the frozen cars at Stansted on Nov 5th it was a delight to arrive in Marrakech where the sun shone and the temperature was a delicious 28 degrees!!!! Apart from one day in Marrakech (which is probably enough!) this really was a full on cycling trip. We were either going up (for many miles) or down (often cold). The snack stops and picnic lunches were warmly welcomed and usually somewhere lovely. Every day the landscape was different – I expected lots of scrubby desert so was pleasantly surprised. Essaouira was particularly lovely – walk through the streets after dinner and enjoy the local hustle and bustle.

Most Inspirational Moment

Feeling like the tiniest speck cycling through the most enormous stunning landscape. Some of the most amazing picnic/snack spots ever!!!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Our two cycling guides were enthusiastic and always happy to help with any problems-cycle or otherwise.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Do not underestimate the hills - they are big!!! And plentiful!! Have warm clothes ready for the pass lunch stop and descent! Take soap/shower gel.

Above all expectations!

from start till end this trip was amazing!
Everything went smoothly, from the pre-tour info, to information at the hotel and the logistics of the domestic flights and checking in on the boat. It felt very safe, especially for a woman travelling alone.

The crew on board was excellent! I loved the way every guide had his own ‘field of expertise’ which covered everything you wanted to know (and things you didn’t know you wanted to know ;-)).

The Staff was extremely helpful, happy, smiling and overall serviceminded. It was a pleasure!
Overall the program on board made sure that you almost didn’t have an idle moment, which for me was amazing! And the logistics of getting nearly 200 passengers into zodiacs 10 at the time, went so incredible easy, they crew are really professional and know how to make your experience the best possible.

I can highly recommend this trip to anyone who wants to explore the magic of Antarctica.

Most Inspirational Moment

Antarctica itself surprised in more ways than one – I was expecting rough weather through the Drake passage, but instead we had calm seas and smooth sailing, so we reached Antarctica half a day early, and had our first zodiac trip before sceduled! The amazing weather stayed with us for the rest of the trip, so amazing blue skies and sun every day was really a treat! The wildlife was every were! Once we reached the continent, every time we looked out, we had penguins on almost every iceberg floating by the ship or a whale showing off in the water close by. And the landings on Antarctica itself, with seals lying around and thousands of penguins all around you, just doing what penguins do was so serene and magical. We even had an afternoon where around 50 Orcas were gathering and swimming around the boat for almost 3 hours, so we could just observe. In the zodiacs we got to experience icebergs calving, get close up with leopard seals floating by on an iceflake, and even had some curious humpback whales, so close to the zodiac that we could almost touch them. Not to mention the beautifull icebergs and surroundings that would take your breath away for sure!

A Great Experience

A fantastic experience. The weather wasn’t always with us, but we enjoyed ourselves anyway. The treks were varied and very interesting. The whale watching trip is well worth the extra money, so do it!

Most Inspirational Moment

The most inspirational moment of my trip was Adam's Peak. The amount of pilgrims going up there carrying elderly or disabled relatives or friends was amazing. Lots of young people too, and different religious beliefs. Truly inspiring!!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Sujan was a very good guide. Very informative, and helpful. He was always there with us, and kept an eye on the slower members of our group. He arranged many little treats with our kitty, too.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Make sure you have adequate mozzie spray. I had taken plenty, but still got bitten.

Southern India coast to coast ride.

This was a lovely trip, taking in a lot of the sights and sounds of rural India which we could not have discovered for ourselves. We also visited many of southern India,s foremost sights. The cycling was as billed and very enjoyable, mostly on quiet back roads, although the chaotic traffic in the cities should not be underestimated.

Most Inspirational Moment

Reaching the top of the hill at Thekkady!

Thoughts on Group Leader

The group leader didn't communicate plans very clearly and didn't always do what he said we would do. For example he promised a stop near a lake in three kilometres which I looked forward to as I'm a keen bird watcher, we didn't stop. He described a morning ride as undulating, it was a 12 kilometre climb. The deputy, Abi, was absolutely excellent.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Enjoy! Take plenty of money, the costs add up, tipping kitty is a substantial sum.
