Excellent trip of a life time
A trip of a life time! One I’ll never forget. I am very pleased that I went early in the year because it was as a lot quieter on the routes than I’ve heard it can be in September/ October. The weather was very cold though, but the mountains and scenery looked stunning in the snow.
A stunning part of the world.
Most Inspirational Moment
Reaching Everest Basecamp was very special, and a life long dream. However for me climbing to the summit of Kala Patther whilst the sun was coming up over Everest was even more special.
Thoughts on Group Leader
Our group leader Tenzi and his team were incredible. They thought of our every need before we did. Nothing was too much trouble for them. They did everything with a smile and were very attentive to making sure we were all ok. Incredible people - thank you!
Advice for Potential Travellers
Take lots of warm clothes if you are going early in the season. Also some gaiters. A number of good base layers is handy. A portable battery charger is really handy too. Favtor 50 sunscreen is a must!

First Visit to Costa Rica
An excellent introduction to the wildlife around Costa Rica. The focus was on birds but there were plenty of flowers, mammals and invertebrates to add interest. A little more strenuous than suggested by the rating but the guide did give the option not to go on some of the walks. The country is safe and reasonably clean (water in hotels was all potable) and the accommodation was of a good standard throughout.
Most Inspirational Moment
Seeing rare birds in a tropical forest setting which is being safeguarded by the government of Costa Rica.
Thoughts on Group Leader
Very helpful. Excellent personal skills and good knowledge of birds and mammals. Willing to offer a few extra walks at some locations
Advice for Potential Travellers
You need to be reasonably fit. Although walks are not very long, the humidity and heat is potentially an issue for some travellers. Take US dollars with you and use as little of local currency as possible. When booking try to get a direct flight (Gatwick - San Jose) and if possible avoid transfers through USA. The transfers between locations were long (but very scenic) and many roads were not tarmac so may not suit anyone with back pain.

Morocco in March
This was an excellent and varied trip but what made it extra special was our fantastic guide Hassan Hiss. He was extremely knowledgeable, well-organised and patient and calm at all times. Everything went like clockwork and he made everything seem effortless which it cannot have been – there was a lot to co-ordinate.
Superb Hassan! All the superlatives, thank you for looking after us and giving us a super and very memorable week.
Most Inspirational Moment
I loved the chance to ride a camel into the Sahara and spend the night there. Another highlight was the hammam with two local ladies looking after us.
Thoughts on Group Leader
Fantastic, great, Hassan was all that could be expected and much more.
The talks he gave us, while on the coach and as we walked and in the evenings, were really interesting and informative. I felt he gave us a real insight into Morocco and the different ways of life of the people there.
Advice for Potential Travellers
We did not need a sleeping bag!

Great cycling, beautiful scenery and good food
This is one of the best cycling trips I’ve done. There’s a good variety on cycling terrain (mountains, backroads, beach, towns, villages) and the scenery is great throughout the trip. And you see a lot of wildlife on and off the bike. Plus lots of temples to visit.
Most Inspirational Moment
Hill climb to Nuwara Eliya.
Visiting local people on our tea breaks and learning more about their way of life.
Thoughts on Group Leader
Suresh and his team were excellent. Everything run smoothly throughout the trip. Suresh's local knowledge taught us a lot of the Sri Lanka life that you don't find in guide books. And he always had a surprise (a positive one) up his sleeve... And the best curry - guaranteed!
Advice for Potential Travellers
Be aware of the local bus drivers... They drive very fast and rather close to you... When in doubt, wait and let them pass.
The weather is very hot and humid - remember to stay well hydrated.

Walked in Puglia and Maters
A pleasant week of gentle walking, visually impressive towns. Also good food and wine (of course).
Most Inspirational Moment
The view of the Sassi from the hotel room in Matera.
Thoughts on Group Leader
Excellent, always attentive and planning ahead.
Advice for Potential Travellers
If you like the sound of the above, consider booking.

Ian Cooper. Cycling the Drakensburg Ranges
Very well run trip with Jean-Paul Gardelli looking after us, Ende driving, fixing bikes and game spotting and Skhumbuzo ably assisting and telling stories. The guys turned out excellent meals every day on the road and kept a steady supply of liquorice allsorts to get us up the hills!
Most Inspirational Moment
Ende our driver spotting a leopard on a branch driving out of Kruger was brilliant. The scenery is truely spectacular ( just like the ads!)
Thoughts on Group Leader
Jean-Paul Gardelli was great. Very informative on many subjects thrown at him. Obviously loves his country and got on really well with everyone..Nothing was too much trouble for him.
Advice for Potential Travellers
This is a great trip for the moderately fit. Lots of variety in the scenery and the driving sections are not too long.

Discover Costa Rica Tour was Wondeful
We chose this tour because it visits areas of Costa Rica that a lot of tours don’t reach. Having returned home and reflected on the experience we could not have made a better choice. Every lodge or hotel we stayed in was perfectly placed, comfortable and relaxing. Where food was included it was always good to excellent. The gardens surrounding all the accommodations were wonderful, with birds, mammals, frogs and reptiles as well as beautiful flowers providing fantastic photo opportunities.
Coming home with such a great feeling about the trip would not have been possible without the company of such a lovely group of people. All 14 of our fellow travellers were great company and got along without any problems. However, without a great tour guide, holidays can fail to achieve the magical tour that we had. Johnny Villalobos was tremendous and went out of his way make sure we saw everything we possibly could in the time available. I have said more about him below.
We loved every part of this tour and we are so glad that we chose this tour over all the others that were available.
Most Inspirational Moment
Seeing at least three quetzal birds when we knew the chances of seeing any might only be 50:50. I was not prepared for just how beautiful they are.
Thoughts on Group Leader
Johnny Villalobos was probably the best tour leader I have experienced. His knowledge of wildlife and all elements of Costa Rican history was phenomenal; to top it off he arranged a 50th anniversary surprise for one of the couples which included a cake and presents which was an emotional moment for everyone. He went above and beyond the normal expectations for a tour guide and should be considered for tour guide of the year.
Advice for Potential Travellers
We were able to pay for almost everything on credit cards, even tiny amounts. Using credit cards that charge no fees meant we could buy anything in the most effective way. The rest of the time $US were accepted everywhere. Sterling is not always accepted even just for converting to Colones.
Be prepared for high humidity, especially at Esquinas Lodge. The humidity everywhere makes drying washing difficult despite the high temperatures.

This was a very well organised trip. where the guide could not do more to help people.
it is good that from when you get the bikes to when you finish there are no transfers, you can cycle all the way. Plus the scenery is very good.
Most Inspirational Moment
cycling through the back roads and small villages
Thoughts on Group Leader
very helpful especially with my food restriction ( being a coeliac)
Advice for Potential Travellers
It can be very hot so drink a lot

Walking boots in the heel of Italy
A well led and easy paced walking holiday in surprisingly varied scenery. The wild flowers were stunning. Don’t expect to lose any weight as the picnics and various local food treats and tastings are irresistible.
Most Inspirational Moment
Meeting a sprightly ninety year old gathering wild asparagus.
Thoughts on Group Leader
Marinella is passionate about her region of Italy and her enthusiasm is infectious. She works very hard to accommodate the different interests and requirements of each group member and has a good- humoured, practical and flexible approach. Her suggestions for our free time were spot on. Ten out of ten.
Advice for Potential Travellers
I found walking boots very helpful as the ground is often stoney although there is little ascent on several of the walks. The steps (there are a lot) and streets in Matera would be lethal in the rain.
Definitely visit Monopoli on your free day if you get the chance - It's a perfect half day trip from Alberobello.
The whole group really enjoyed the optional visit to a dairy farm and very generous home-cooked meal
The famous facade of the cathedral in Lecce is completely obscured by scaffolding.

Classic Kenya Safari
This trip exceeded my expectations. We were travelling at the end of the season, just as the long rains were due and I was a little anxious about “what” we would manage to see.We were looked after so well, and everyone did their utmost to ensure we had a perfect and memorable trip.
Most Inspirational Moment
The smiling faces and generous hearts of the people we met.
The utter beauty of the landscape and unimaginable privilege of seeing wild animals in their natural habitat.
Watching from the " observation platform" as torrential rain poured down , after our last game drive was over .
Thoughts on Group Leader
Peter and Davis were our guides/ drivers. They were awesome. They were friendly, fun kind and thoughtful. Both were a mine of information about anything and everything. They kept us safe, informed and entertained and worked tirelessly to ensure everyone had a perfect trip.
Advice for Potential Travellers
Loose, comfy clothing that you don't mind getting dusty/ dirty. The trip notes are are little unclear and don't tell you that you will want to consider tipping at both venues - the lodge staff and the camp staff, they only allow guidance for your drivers/ guides and one set of staff.
We found our multi plug useful at the lodge as there was only one socket in the room.
