KILIMANJARO CLIMB - RONGAI ROUTE

An amazing experience brilliantly orchestrated.

Most Inspirational Moment

Reaching the summit of Kilimanjaro was a once in a lifetime high, only made possible by the expertise of the team that helped us at every stage.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Out group leader was friendly, professional, patient and knowledgable. It was refreshing to travel with people who erform over and above expectations and really live their job.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Take it easy, stop, drink it in, smell the flowers and enjoy the trip of a lifetime.

MONT BLANC CIRCUIT

It was an amazing trip – good scenery, great group, fantastic food and awesome guide!!! What more do you want?

Most Inspirational Moment

Getting on to the top of mountains with Ovi and Kevin. Many thanks to our guide/group leader "Grahem" to motivate us to make an extra effort to conquer the peak which was not even a part of the TMB route. Simply SUPERB!!!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Our group leader "Grahem" was amazing throughout the trip. He was taking care of everybody, briefing us in the morning and providing us a lot of information on our way. I was amazed by his knowledge about all the surrounding mountains and the valleys. One of the things which I'll remember all my life about him is organizing a few uphill challenges. After his inspirational speech, everyone would jump into the challenge and enjoy it. Another great thing about him was that he was taking care of every single person. If someone would feel less motivated to walk, he would walk with him/her, talk to him/her and make him/her comfortable. He really made the whole group to walk together. It was fantastic! I also liked the fact that he did a good effort to organize a small party in a pub to celebrate Lewis' birthday. We had a great time there. We danced on Punjabi beats. We also went on to wear Punjabi turbans and danced. Amazing experience!GREAT WORK Grahem. I would love to go for any trip guided by him.One more thing: I really loved Lewis' cooking and his organization. Really a great great cook, and what a person! Awesome!

Advice for Potential Travellers

Many people do not bring walking poles with them. I think it is wise to buy a pair, as they are very helpful, especially walking downhill without putting extra pressure/load on your knees.

KENYA & TANZANIA ADVENTURE

Excellent trip. Fantastic sights, great companions, loads of wildlife and a brilliant tour leader.  After having been on the Gorillas and Masai Mara trip already, I was looking for a trip that’d go into Tanzania and so I chose this one. Well, I’m gladI did. It was well worth it. If you have not been on a wildlife adventure in Africa before, this might just be the trip for you.

Most Inspirational Moment

Nakuru just after the end of the rainy season.Ngorongoro CraterChillaxing in Zanzibar

Thoughts on Group Leader

Moses was probably the best tour leader I ever had with Exodus. There's not much else to add.Well done.  Equally good were Albert, our cook, and Boniface, our driver. All three of them made this a better trip.

Advice for Potential Travellers

The trip notes list a waterbottle, torch, suncream, sunglasses and a travel towel as optional items. Well, there are not optional, you'll need them. Also, take watershoes (wetshoes) for a walk along the beach/in the water in Zanzibar.

AMALFI COAST & BAY OF NAPLES

Very well organised trip. Very full schedule seeing most of the great sights.Lovely hotel.Excellent and informed tour guide.

Most Inspirational Moment

Probably the Walk of the Gods because of the bright Mediterranean colours and the dramatic landscape and seascape.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Quite execellent.Well organised.Friendly and approachable.Equal treatment to everyone, time for evereyone, had no favourites.Very knowledgable and informed about the local area.Able to communicate effectively with local partners of Exodus

Advice for Potential Travellers

You need to update the travel notes to reflect the fact that a small pool is now available at the hotel at a modest cost.

Suggestions

The day in Amalfi and Ravello might deserve some review. I felt that more time in Amalfi and less in Ravello would have been beneficial.

MONT BLANC HIGHLIGHTS

A relatively easy way to experience awe-inspiring scenery. You can just take in the beauty of nature without worrying about anything else.

Most Inspirational Moment

The purity of the mountain streams, the beauty of the mountains and the overwhelming feeling of happiness being part of the world which is somehow completely absent in normal everyday life.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Oliver was very caring and looked after all of our interests. He is more or less omniscient though not in an annoying way. An incredibly nice man with an even nicer dog and a wonderful sense of humour.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Go for it.

Suggestions

Elaine worked incredibly hard to cater for our every need. It was much appreciated. She and Oliver made us feel at home instantly. A very difficult thing to achieve. Thanks to them both.

MONTENEGRO, BOSNIA & HERZEGOVINA

I feel the trip has given me a small insight into the political, cultural and social lives of the people of Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina. However, despite having a beautiful landscape, great weather, good food, a calm people I wonder whether the political stability which is there now will endure.

Most Inspirational Moment

Both home trips to farmsteads were very inspirational. The trip to Lukomir was something special to me (despite stuggling with the altitude!) Sarajevo felt like home only after a couple of days and I was sorry to go.

Thoughts on Group Leader

At first I thought, oh dear, he is young but he proved himself with an easy-going manner, a comprehensive knowledge of all things historical and political, a very good sense of humour and good organizational abilities. It was great to sit in the bus and hear him chat and joke with the driver on our long days driving.

Advice for Potential Travellers

A rain jacket isn´t really required in July even though it´s in the notes!

Suggestions

There isn´t much walking, but good shoes are required. It is hot in July and so be prepared with sun cream and a wide-brimmed hat. Some days are long days in the bus but the landscape is varied and the roads are in the main very good.

AMALFI COAST & BAY OF NAPLES

As you’d expect, the trip did not leave much time for lounging about but I saw so many of the highlights of the local area. The free day gave an opportunity to explore the village of Bomerano although other people opted to go to Pompii.

Most Inspirational Moment

The Walk of the Gods was undoubtably the highlight, the scenery fro so high up was amazing. Another highlight was an ice cream followed by swimming in the sea at the end of the walk in Positano.Taking the funicular, bus and chair lift to the top of Capri was another superb trip as the view from there is 360 degrees.

Thoughts on Group Leader

My group leader, Morten was a real gentleman and looked after us all amzingly well. He walked with me when I found the heat going up Vesuvius a bit much. I made it to the top and onto the rim which gave me a real feeling of satisfaction.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Be prepared for the heat and take plenty of sunscreen. Remember to drink lots of water.

Suggestions

Overall, a brilliant holiday. Went past far too quickly. The company on the trip was excellent and I will probably keep in touch with a few people.

CYCLING THE DALMATIAN COAST

Great group, Great guide, Great country. The weather was hot! This made a swim in crystal clear waters at the end of the day even better!

Most Inspirational Moment

After some long climbs, the joy of a downhill through stunning countryside. Olive groves and VineyardsThe last 20km to Sucuraj and the final days ride around Korcula were my favourites. The trip to the Mljet National  Park is a must. Swim in the clearest water I have ever seen! The meals at Pupnat and the Homestead were by far the best of the trip.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Ana was great. Probably one of the best cycling guides I have met. She can heard cats! Sixteen of them! Her instruction are VERY clear. LISTEN to them. Some of the downhills are very narrow. We did come across some cars coming the other way! So when she says go slow. GHer humour very dry! An amazing ambassador to Croatia. My only suggestion would maybe to produce some simple maps of the daily rides. With turning points and distances. With sixteen people it can sometimes be difficult to hear instructions.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Croatia is not cheap. I would work on the upper guide of £35 a day at least. The best food and wine we had was at Pupnat and the homestead. All home made. Some of the food in the restaurants was a bit dissapointing. Most of the wine seemed to be watered down. Stick to beer!July is hot! Most of the hotels are basic and clean. If fans could be added to some of them that would be great.I use a Camel pack which is great. If you are using a water bottle make sure it is a good size. You will drink a lot of water!

Suggestions

There is a direct flight from Dubrovnik back to Gatwick with Easyjet at about 11:00 which I didn't know about. The group flight via Zagreb leaves at 6:25 so a 4:00 transfer! We didn't go to bed! This a great trip. Only a week. All the other trips I have been on were two weeks and I wish I had stayed on longer.

CLASSIC KENYA SAFARI

Met fully or exceeded expectations and an experience that will stay with me for a lifetime. Throughout the trip the level of anticipation continually increased as we went from one unexpected sighting to the next. I cannot see how it could have been improved at the price we paid. Thank you Exodus!

Most Inspirational Moment

A cheetah with two cubs from close quarters.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Quickly assessed the specific interests and attitudes of each member of the group on day 1, then at all times very keen to establish if they were satisfied with the trip and were seeing the animals that they had hoped to see. Very good with regard to identification of the animals we encountered - I am a professional biologist and was impressed with the way in which he clearly took the trouble to ensure he got the detail right e.g. using field glasses where necessary (and very occasionally checking a field guide) to distinguish between closely related species rather than guessing. Also good when answering questions on the biology of the animals seen, adjusting his answers to give the level of detail appropriate to different members of the group. Well organised, listened to all opinions and requests and was responsive at all times. Health and safety aspects of the trip were addressed well (but, refreshingly, not overdone!).  Clearly thinking ahead and anticipating/solving any minor problems that might or did arise in a seemless fashion, and with minimal or no fuss. In summary attentive to the needs of the group at all times, very keen to ensure that each client left Kenya with a good opinion of both the country and the tour company.

Advice for Potential Travellers

It is well worth considering arranging visas in advance of travelling. I did not, and buying visas on arrival resulted in an hours delay for the whole group.

Suggestions

I have already strongly recommended your company and this trip to others. The attention given by the local guides/leaders to ensuring a good experience for the whole group was very impressive and, in my view, was a major factor in making the visit the success that it was. They are to be congratulated for their untiring efforts.

MONGOLIAN ADVENTURE

A really enjoyable and rewarding trip. The Steppe , the Gobi , the Gers and the people are something quite special. Travelling in the russian 4 wheeel drives is definately the way to travel. These vehicles allow you to travel into the real Mongolia. Generally well organised and good staff all make for a memorable trip.

Most Inspirational Moment

Enjoying the Gers in the middle of nowhere. No fences , no restictions , no phone or email just the odd horseman riding past in the morning.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Group leader quite good. English skills adequate but did create some confusion with translations. Could not have tried harder and just a lovely person.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Pick pockets in Ulaan Bataar the worst I have struck ANYWHERE. [ especially during the Nadam ]Don't excpect too much in the way of cuisine whilst travelling - some chilli paste / tabasco will win you a lot of friends around the table. There are not many towns that have ATMs and changing anything except US dollars in towns banks can be an issue. Addtionally old US notes [ older than 2007 ] can also be a problem.

Suggestions

Bring a sense of humour , be flexible and don't expect the showers to always be hot - then you will have a great and memorable trip.
