Amalfi Family Adventure

An excellent trip that was very well organised and gave us opportunity to experience many of the key places of interest in the region.

Most Inspirational Moment

Lunch on the Walk of the Gods at an old rustic farmhouse that we had to ourselves. A fabulous setting with outstanding food and drink. Very peaceful away from the hoards. The coastline is beautiful and its not hard to see why its so popular.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Eduardo was excellent, kept us organised, passed on local knowledge, made all arrangements as necessary and was good with the kids. He made the holiday much easier and more enjoyable than if we had tried to organise this all on our own.

Advice for Potential Travellers

The weather was very hot. This was expected though be sure to bring enough sunscreen and the right clothing to cater for this. Some of the places we visited are very popular so ferries/streets can be very busy. The hotel staff were excellent and catered even for the most fussy of eaters (including chip pizza!).

The Turquoise Coast

What a fantastic trip! It was my first experience of Exodus and I would definitely use the company again. The days’ activities were always well organised, enjoyable and interesting.

Most Inspirational Moment

Having the Patara beach destination at the end of our walks was spectacular. The roman ruins were really worth seeing, as was the Turkish market and Turkish lunch at a local Turkish family's house.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Our leader Touget was really attentive and helpful to the group and gave us an insight into the culture.

luxury hotel to return to after lovely island walks

a week of luxury and lovely walks on this quiet and relaxed island

Most Inspirational Moment

walking through the beautiful spring flowers with the pounding sea in our ears. Amazing cliff walks the food in the hotel was amazing. heated pool was great. walking through the local's fields and being given freshly picked oranges to enjoy at lunch

Thoughts on Group Leader

self guided - good map and notes, helpful and very friendly locals if needed

Advice for Potential Travellers

getting the local bus is easy, get a map from the ferry/bus station in the capitol and buy a week ticket for just a few euros so that it is easy to hop on and off. There is a hotel shuttle to Victoria but the local bus is also convenient. take clothing that will still fit after a week of 3 course meals and enormous, well stocked buffet breakfast.

Wildlife and wilderness in botswana

We recently went on the above trip and had a fantastic anD interesting trip, which exceeded our expectations. The holiday was well-structured, with a two day break in Victoria falls right in the middle of the two weeks. Bear in mind, though, that you are visiting a country the size of France and doing a considerable amount of traveling, staying in six different locations, to appreciate the diversity of the landscape and the animal, plant and bird life.Wynand, our South African guide, had a staggering amount of knowledge and enthusiasm and added greatly to the holiday. We would nominate him as the best tour guide we have had on these type of holidays and whatever you are paying him, it is not enough ! all the staff were excellent and developed a rapport with the guests. we had twelve in our group, with a varied age mix, which worked very well and it did not feel like a coach tour. we had a strong tip to try the 16 day Costa Rica trip, so are looking at that at present.

Most Inspirational Moment

Hearing the family group in the delta sing us a traditional welcome song around. The camp fire it was unforgettable

Thoughts on Group Leader

He was amazing completely unflappable always chirpy and was very amusing and he was very happy to spend time with us as individuals

Advice for Potential Travellers

Take a warmer sleeping bag than I did- I did not take the advice seriously and was very grateful of the blanket provided by exodus

South African Walking Safari

A wonderful trip in a spectacular country, seeing a lots of wildlife and some stunning landscapes

Most Inspirational Moment

1. Arriving off the chain ladders above the Amphitheatre, with awesome views from high on the Drakensberg. 2. Getting so close to the peaceful hippo family in the early morning in the St Lucia estuary. 3. Having a close encounter with a white rhino and her calf on the game drive in the Karongwe game reserve.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Andrew was simply amazing. Really well organised, looked after everyone throughout, and was a terrific cook!

Advice for Potential Travellers

Go on all the game drives you can, you'll see different things each time. Don't miss out on the chain ladders, they're fine (the alternative scramble wasn't an option).

Cycling in Istria

This week-long self-guided cycling trip was excellent. Cycling through olive groves, along rocky shores and sampling tasty local food. Typical distances were 30K a day suggested, but there is great scope for extending (or shortening) routes to suit yourself. Directions were generally good, and accommodation was excellent along the way in very friendly hotels in Fazana (especially!) Rovinj and Porec.

Most Inspirational Moment

Admiring the beautiful old town of Rovinj from the bell tower

Thoughts on Group Leader

N/A - self guided

Advice for Potential Travellers

A detour to Motovun was beautiful but a challenging cycle. Bring insect repellent for the countryside cycles.

Margaret

Having had are original booking changed due to no one else booking, the company re booked our trip for the Saturday. They were very helpful and apologetic, they could not understand why, having been on the trek I do.

Most Inspirational Moment

Cocktails at the hotel in Les Bossons,we went here by ourselves. As every meal that had been pre booked by Exodus, we were told beforehand that the hotel did not like the group, or people the previous week had complained.

Thoughts on Group Leader

He had very little knowledge about the area, he had done two trips and we were his third group. He did state quite clearly that the did not expect us to move along at the same speed, however with all the references to the previous group, a pack mentally developed and on arrival at the campsite each evening it was "were we faster than the previous" This resulted in one day, three of the team having to abandon their walk due to being completely wrecked.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Make sure that the people running your trek, are enjoying their job, as if they are totally fed up it begins to rub off on you. I did the Yorkshire Three Peaks in just under ten hours, I would suggest that you must be fit enough to complete this within nine hours otherwise do not book. Also be prepared to pack up belongings and your tent, before you are allowed a warm drink or anything to eat. (this is because they do not trust you will be organised in time for the group to leave!

Reply from Exodus

An Exodus staff member who travelled on this departure has given us excellent feedback about the tour leader and the way in which the walks were led, and this leader has had great feedback over the past two seasons so we are disappointed that Margaret’s experience was not as positive as we would have expected. We are aware that on one day, three of the group members decided to take a cable car down when the option was available, but to our knowledge this was not because they felt they had to abandon the walk and we have not received any other feedback to suggest that the pace of the walking was overly fast. We are really sorry that Margaret did not enjoy this holiday as much as other trips she has been on and that she sustained an injury as we realise she must have been disappointed not to join all of the walks. Stunning views of the Mont Blanc massif

As expected, the scenery is stunning. The walks selected for the ‘Highlights’ were great as they allowed for a good array of views of the Mont Blanc massif and the itinerary was very well paced. Everything ran smoothly and the group were well looked after by the leader and the chalet staff. Good food, a nice selection of local beers and a beautiful setting meant that time at the chalet was nearly as enjoyable as the trekking.

Most Inspirational Moment

I really loved the walking on the Courmayeur day. The views were amazing, there were mountain flowers everywhere and it felt slightly more remote. It was great to just take in my surroundings.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Very knowledgeable of the trekking that goes on in the area and you can tell that he has a real passion for it. He adapted the walks based on the weather and the group’s varying abilities which showed his experience. He also joined the group for drinks on a few evenings which was something that he didn’t have to do but was a nice touch.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Comfortable and suitable footwear is essential. Walking poles are also a great help for walking efficiency and balance. Be prepared for varying temperatures and weather conditions. The weather was mostly good but wearing layers that you can add/remove depending on conditions and having waterproofs will make the trekking a far more enjoyable experience.

Kilimanjaro, Rongai Route

An excellent trip from start to finish. We were looked after by the best guides, cooks and porters and feel privileged to have been part of the group.

Most Inspirational Moment

It has got to be my fist view of Kilimanjaro through the aeroplane window and then again the view from Kia Lodge - yes! it was really happening.....but then it was truly fantastic being given the 'go ahead' to reach the summit after reaching Gillman's Point.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Our Group Leader, Mussa was incredible! He took such care of us each day with patience and sensitivity. He took the time to get to know us all as well as sharing his stories. His humour and dedication gave me the determination to go that extra mile! Mussa (Moses) really did lead us to the promised land!! I cannot forget our other guides too who made this trip unforgettable.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Warm sleeping bags- it's really cold! Baby wipes, lots of them.

Mount Toubkal

This was a very well organised trip. Transfers to and from the airport were all organised and it’s easy to spot other exodus travellers with their big yellow bags.

The food was fantastic and there was much more of it than I was expecting.

The walks were good and a pleasant way to do Toubkal and the surrounding Atlas Mountains.

We didn’t need to treat water at all and you just need to buy water at the available places and ask when the next opportunity to buy more is so you can plan quantity sensibly.

The walk isn’t ‘non-technical’; there is a lot of slippy scree and a bit of scrambling up boulders. Fitness needs to be reasonable but the climbs were very do-able. Don’t be put off by the 95 diagonals it’s easier than it looks.

Marrakech was interesting and easily done in the 24 hours at the end. I wouldn’t bother staying on longer in Marrakech it’s self.

Most Inspirational Moment

I enjoyed the views but unfortunately never had a moment of euphoria

Thoughts on Group Leader

The group leader wasn't particularly focused on the group. When people needed to stop for whatever reason he didn't tend to notice. However other members of the group do notice, so it's nothing to worry about but I would have expected more from the leader. However his local knowledge was excellent and I enjoyed the times he stopped to tell us about the Burbers and the villages.
