Lovely group

I had a wonderful holiday with a fun group of people. Our leader Teresa & Mike the driver ( who also walked with us) organised everything brilliantly and were very patient walking at the perfect pace.
The Tuscan countryside is breathtaking, as are the beautiful hilltop villages and towns.

The only downside was the food at our accommodation, which was poor.

On the plus side the food in the local restaurants chosen by Exodus was delicious.
The wine tasting was great and very informative.

Most Inspirational Moment

The last day walking through the beautiful undulating hills and vineyards to San Gimignano.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Teresa was excellent and came up with very good suggestions for restaurants & where to get the best gelatos!

Fantastic three weeks exploring Peru

The trip starts with exploring the capital city Lima, then follows the coast seeing flocks of the sea birds and sea lions on the way before turning inland into the Andes, the Inca Trail, Machu Picchu and a brief visit to ‘the jungle’. You see magnificent landscapes along the way from the desert-like coastal plains to the fabulous snow-capped Andean mountain tops with an active volcano on the horizon. You visit manu Inca and pre-Inca settlements during the course of the three weeks. After the effort and camping along the Inca Trail there’s just enough time to visit the jungle for more wild-life viewing. This excursion has the lot!

Most Inspirational Moment

In terms of physical effort, going over Dead Woman's Pass on the Inca Trail. However, seeing the condors gliding in and around the canyons and cliffs and viewing the Lines of Nazca from above were also pretty inspirational moments. The Inca sites were all phenomenal in terms of size and construction.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Group Leader Luis Gonzales was brilliant. Knowledgeable, attentive, always careful as to our health, particularly when we were at altitude and very keen to show us everything Peru offers, Luis was always professional and had a great sense of humour.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Be prepared for all weathers. We had heat and humidity in the jungle and rain, wind, sleet, mist, cold as well as sun and heat in the Andes. Invest in a good poncho - the plastic ones for sale locally are not up to the job.

Nice but not perfect

I did enjoy the cycling in those desolated monutain regions, with practically no traffic in company of our joung enthusiastic guides, as well as the way along the coast, with lot of ondulation. The hotels at the coast were nice, although concerning the meals there was room for improvement. It would have been nice to dine a couple of time in a restaurant instead of staying always at the hotel.

Very helpful enthusiastic young guides.

Girls on Tour

This trip was a bit too “timed” for me.
Whilst really well organised and hosted we seemed to be always on the move with little time for a reasonable lunch or a look around especially the first 2 days.
I feel we could have spent more time on the island of HVAR – this is a truly lovely place – and HVAR town especially where we only had an hour.
The hotel at Jelsa was in a fantastic location – however, a bit basic and in need of a good upgrade of facilities and a breakfast menu review. Sadly we had a terrible night here with 35 knot winds and shutters rattling. I had to stuff newspaper up the side of the main door to stop the wind blowing in through the large gap. the next day everyone was exhausted from lack of sleep.
Korcula was fab – hotel great – and here we had good food and a few days rest electing not to do the trip to Mleet or the ride the following day. My job is a physical one so the lack of sleep had used all my resources up!
Last ride to the ferry to Dubrovnik was really beautiful and our stay in Dubrovnik at Hotel Vis was very comfortable. The hotel is right on a beach so we swam and chilled on both days.
Best bit here I think was the tour of the City with a super guide and then supper in the old City.
The free day is fantastic for a good look around and the cable car ride to view the City and see how it is laid out is well worth the money.

Our host Marin was great! Very good at helping when needed and not in any way intrusive. He had great knowledge of the area and kept us on schedule to catch the many ferries needed to get from island to mainland etc..

As a vegetarian I did struggle a bit with the food available. Marin helped immensely as my friend also cannot eat Gluten so we weren’t the easiest of guests to feed. The quality of the restaurants booked was really good and everyone was really helpful.

The group of people on the trip gelled really well and on the last night on Korcula stayed up into the small hours singing songs from Queen to Ilkley Moor Bar Tat!

Most Inspirational Moment

The time in Dubrovnik - looking around in the evening.

Our host Marin was great! Very good at helping when needed and not in any way intrusive. He had great knowledge of the area and kept us on schedule to catch the many ferries needed to get from island to mainland etc.. He was good company in the evenings and had a great sense of humour especially when reporting on the weather - which was very wet at times!

Advice for Potential Travellers

Always pack a set of waterproofs! We had a couple of days of rain and started the ride to Dubrovnik wearing bin bags as waterproofs!

Amazing! But be mindful of the steps 😉

Our guide, Louise Russell, was absolutely amazing and made sure that everything was always running smooth. Hubby and I only brought running shoes instead of proper hiking boots and to do it again, we would bring light hiking boots that have ankle support. I accidentally fell on the first hike (totally my fault… Looked back while still walking and rolled my ankle) and ended up spraining my ankle. Louise was fabulous in providing first aid and giving me options to meet the group at different locations the following days.
The rooms are simple, very clean and comfortable. The food is plentiful and very good. Highly recommend this tour!

Most Inspirational Moment

Hiking mount Vesuvius with the special guide and really going into the crater. The group of people that formed our group were really amazing and that also made a big difference.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Louise is simply fantastic, professional, enthusiastic, compassionate, knowledgeable, easy going, funny, motivating, etc. She is truly passionate about the outdoors and is so well suited for this job! Loved her and so thankful we ended up in her group. The other leaders also gave us a very good impression.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Know that you'll be doing alot of steps and they are not city steps... Uneven, rocky steps and mostly going down. Hiking poles do help and the hotel Due Torri has some for free borrowing. Bring extra money for tipping the bus drivers, staff, and your leader as well as for drinks at the bar and wine with supper if desired.

Marrakech and the Sahara

At 72 l was a bit worried if l would be a stumbling block with the other travelers. None of it. lt was the most amazing trip l’ve ever had. We were looked after from the word go and l never felt the odd one out. lf l did have a hic cup, my friends would help me. They called me the tough old bird!!!

Most Inspirational Moment

The camel ride in the Sahara. When we got to our destination we all decided to sleep under the stars. AMAZING !!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Excellent. No other words.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Be prepared to enjoy

A wonderful adventure

The week was full of outstanding beauty, different terrains, rock pools to swim in, bird life and flowers

Most Inspirational Moment

No particular moment...it was all inspirational

Thoughts on Group Leader

Excellent! I’ve been on many Exodus trips...he was the best yet!

Advice for Potential Travellers

Walking poles are very useful. Some of the walking is on very rocky terrain and descending can be hard...useful to have poles to steady oneself. Take your swimwear! The rock pools are lovely.

Amazing Holiday

This was my first walking holiday. Martin Goddard is an exceptional guide. The whole holiday was very well organised from start to finish. The walks were as described and the scenery was amazing. The group were fantastic, very supportive and great fun. Highly recommended.

Most Inspirational Moment

The amazing views and swimming in Rock Pools. Seeing a golden eagle was pretty special too!!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Amazing

Advice for Potential Travellers

Go for it. There's lots of support. The advice given by exodus is very accurate.

Outstanding scenery and hiking in truly stunning US National Parks

5 National Parks, each with something different to offer, but all share magnificent natural beauty. Our leader Jeff was also outstanding and his knowledge of not only each park, but the US in general and it’s nature and history added to the whole experience. Jeff was able to get us away from the crowds (walk more than half a mile from car parks and suddenly you feel you have escaped the crowds and your experience changes for the better). Going in early September was perfect as it was glorious weather. We enjoyed beautiful sunrises and sunsets, both easy walks and more challenging walks and a memorable barbecue under the stars, with our Navajo guide, in the less visited areas of Monument Valley with its glorious red rocks and silence as you’re far away from people and traffic. Returning to the brashness and noise of Las Vegas at the end of the trip to fly home was a shock to the senses and made you appreciate the sense of escape you have on the National Park treks even more!

Most Inspirational Moment

Barbecue under the stars in a more remote part of Monument Valley with our Navajo guide.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Jeff was absolutely outstanding. His leadership, energy levels, can-do attitude, knowledge, humour and nothing is too much trouble attitude were first class. He drove us everywhere, was our guide everywhere except Monument Valley and the Grand Canyon (guides can’t accompany you), explained clearly what would happen each day and how long it would take to arrive at our destinations, organised group dinners and did everything he could to ensure we had a memorable and trouble free experience.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Travel light. There are a number of opportunities to wash your clothes. I only took hand luggage on the plane so avoided having to wait for my baggage. Go. You’ll love it! Consider arriving a day or two before the trip starts to acclimatise to the heat if you’re going in summer. Las Vegas was 41 centigrade by day and when we all got to our first National Park, Zion, it was 35 centigrade. I loved the heat but was glad I got their 2 days early to get used to it.

Bit rushed trip

Jordan is very nice place while choosing this trip i was expecting to enjoy scenery as well but there were very few stoppage in this trip. Although all arrangements was good and we enjoyed cycling.
