Indian Ocean Trips

Discover Indian Ocean holidays from Exodus, the small-group adventure experts. Sri Lanka is nicknamed the Pearl of the Indian Ocean, so it’s no surprise all our Sri Lanka tours take in the waters that lap at the country’s glorious beaches.

From November to April, you can go whale watching from the glorious beaches in the south, with the chance to spot the largest animal that has ever lived, the blue whale, plus sperm whales and the dolphins that love to frolic in the boat’s wake.

See the trips below for a great range of small-group holidays to the Indian Ocean and Sri Lanka.

I joined the trip in Colombo , meeting a friendly group of like minded travellers . The tour was well planned , encompassing many highlights of the ‘ cultural triangle ‘ . The visit to the tea plantation was interesting and informative , however the stay at Nuwara Elia was less so , since the town did not have much to offer in terms of interesting sights

Our trip Sri Lankan Highlights was in September 2025. We learnt so much about Sri Lanka and its lovely people. There was a good mix of culture and wildlife – we saw lots of elephants, bats, jackal, monkeys, birds, crocodiles, reptiles. Our guide Mahen with co-pilot and driver kept us safe and entertained for the whole trip.

My trip to Sri Lanka was truly magical. Not only did we see over 100 elephants while on safari, but we also spent three hours gazing out of a train window at the misty tea hills of Nuwara Eliya. This trip was the perfect mix of sightseeing and activities – we travelled by boat, tuk-tuk, train, 4×4, and even on foot during a hike up Sigiriya! I travelled in September, so we had quite a bit of rain in Kandy, but it only added to the lush, tropical scenery, which was absolutely beautiful. Sri Lanka should be experienced by everyone!
