Exceeded my expectations; and they were pretty high!
This was my third cycling holiday with Exodus and I can’t wait to book the next one. Once again, I chose somewhere where I had no previous knowledge, thus making it a bit of an ‘Adventure.
Inevitably slightly apprehensive about how well I would fit in to a group of sixteen people that I had never met before. My worries were needless; we all got on famously and just got on with enjoying the well organised trip. Great hotels, food and wine. Distances not too challenging, although the heat was at times.
All breaks, rest stops and overnights were entirely adequate. Important to bear in mind that this is first and foremost a cycling holiday. There were many occasions when, as a keen photographer, I would like to have stopped but that wouldnt have been fair on the ‘Back Marker’.
Most Inspirational Moment
Each day had its magic moments but the selection of fascinating hotels could never be described as ordinary. Breakfast overlooking a ravine in Matera, rooms in a former Palace and a night in a former farmhouse (Masseria) surrounded by olive trees and vines.
So many great memories...
Thoughts on Group Leader
Emanuel was excellent. He kenew his bikes and how to treat a group of intrepid explorers, Top man!
Advice for Potential Travellers
Be prepared for heat: it was up to 30C even in mid September. However, there was always plenty of fresh cold water in the backup vehicle with Piero.

Great tour but disappointing hotels
I thought the tour was great and enjoyed where we visited and the activities included.
I was disappointed with the hotels. Only the hotel in Ostuni was 4 star; and the rest 3 star.
This tour cost a lot more than Riviera, Just You or Travelsphere and only Had 2 meals included.
I was expecting it to be a cut above the rest for the price paid.
The tour was good and the tour manager excellent. Shame it was let down by the choice of accommodation. I also found the places we stayed in to be much too touristy.
Most Inspirational Moment
When I went on my own to Polignano a Mare for the night.
Thoughts on Group Leader
Fantastic!
Advice for Potential Travellers
If you are fussy about where you stay then don’t book this tour.

A memorable trip
The tour was well organised and covered everything promised in the brochure. The knowledgeable local guide enabled us to learn about Mongolia. Even the cancellation of a local flight transfer was turned into an adventure.

A perfect introduction to the best of Mainland Greece and its Archeology with Eva our excellent guide.
A perfect introduction to the best archeological sites of Ancient Greece with an excellent group leader and archaeologist, our charming “travel Mamma” Eva.
Most Inspirational Moment
The amazing age, state of preservation and artistic quality of the sites and artefacts in the museums. All brought to life and put into context by Eva's clear and lively descriptions and stories.
Thoughts on Group Leader
Eva our archaeologist and group leader was the perfect guide giving us an excellent introduction to all the sites and their place in the story of Greece. She seemed to have endless enthusiasm and energy and answered all our questions to make sure we had a clear picture of each place and its stories.
She made sure we had suggestions for good places to try delicious local food in every village or town we visited.
Advice for Potential Travellers
If you are at all interested in Greek history and archeology book this trip now.
Make sure you have non slip footwear as smooth limestone can be very slippery and there are lots of steps.

A terrific trip!
This trip is great! The varied itinerary explores all the major attractions of Jordan, its fascinating history and culture as well as the lovely landscape and, if course, its delicious food.

Discovering the delights of Petra - the High Places, Monastery and Treasury are just the tip of the iceberg. There's something special round every bend!
The ancient Roman city of Jerash was also a revelation.
Then there was the whole magical Wadi Rum experience, floating and mud bathing at the Dead Sea and snorkelling at the Red Sea.....
Thoughts on Group Leader
Zuhair knew the history of his country inside out and in particular his guiding in Jerash and Petra particular was exceptional. He was able to use his contacts to gain access for the group to areas not generally open to the public and also pointed out and explained features we would most likely have missed for ourselves. On a more personal level though he didn't make much effort to socialise or to get to know the group as individuals.
Advice for Potential Travellers
The pace is generally quite relaxed / moderate - until you get to Petra! You'll need good walking shoes (boots are not needed) and plenty of stamina as well as sun hat, sun cream and sunglasses. There's very little shade to be found. The Petra by Night optional visit was atmospheric but poor value for money and underwhelming as you walk for over an hour for a 30 minute show at the end of what was already a physically demanding day.
The snorkelling equipment for hire at Aqaba was really good, certainly better than I've found anywhere else in my (limited) experience.
You may want to pack some Immodium and rehydration sachets as some in our group had "issues"!
