Breathtaking

An epic adventure full of jaw dropping moments & experiences: Desert to ancient cities, mountains, museums & a whole lot more. The scale, size & beauty of the architectural monuments alone is spectacular. An unforgettable(but tiring) trip..the people are very friendly, the food is plentiful & cheap compared to the UK & the artisanal crafts just exquisite. Be prepared for a tiring first 2 days especially, as jet lag will ‘get’ you & overall I think the trip should be re-classified as Moderate as their isn’t much down time at all & the middle 3 days (Home stay, overnight train, Yurt camp ) with a long minibus drive on extremely bumpy track is quite exhausting. Pack as light as you can (make space for taking some of the amazing textiles home)& comfortable travelling clothes. Take dollars & change them when you get there (not everywhere takes cards or dollars-Uzbek Som preferred). I do think that Exodus should review the itinerary if possible as the long road trip on very bumpy track was tough & we had a full size coach into the Homestay when 2 Mini buses would have been better as the coach really struggled to get through the narrow roads. Does the final section from Bukhara to Tashkent have to be by train??Travellers be prepared for long presentations by the Tour Leader when you arrive at a site (to be honest, these should be shortened as its very hard to take lots of info in when you’re recovering from jet leg). Hotels overall very good . An experience (or hundred) for a lifetime!!

Most Inspirational Moment

Too many to single out but the friendliness of the Uzbek people stood out for me, just as much as all the incredible UNESCO World Heritage sites.

Excellent.

Advice for Potential Travellers

As above

Fantastic Scenery and Guide!

Marijo helped make this trip an unparalleled joy and success. The amazing scenery of the Adriatic Coasts coupled with his expert knowledge of local places crowd avoidance made this a fantastic trip.

Most Inspirational Moment

The swing at the top of the huge climb on Hvar Island, day one. The views were incredible and joy at finishing so rewarding!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Marijo was an unparalleled leader and big personality. He was well known and liked by folks at restaurants and lodging everywhere we traveled. He cared for every detail of our trip and anticipated every situation to maximize our experience. He gave us great history and prep tips as we went along.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Get an e-bike—it’s a lot of climbing. Ask for Marijo—none better for this trip!

Most Inspirational Moment

Machu Picchu was absolutely breath taking!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Very knowledgeable and pleasant to be around for the full 2 weeks

Advice for Potential Travellers

Take Mosquito repellent, be sure to bring layers as the temp can drop from hot to cold and make sure you remain hydrated through out when reaching high altitude! the local coca tea really helps!

Fabulous!!

Just returned from a fabulous week of walking the highlights of Mont Blanc. Great walks with our guide Adrian, wonderful food provided by Sebastian & Carolina. Stayed in Chalet Chalupa in Les Houches which was comfortable and the area was nice and quite away from Chamonix’s hustle and bustle. The walks were challenging for a level 3 however well worth it for the views. Lovely to come back from the walks mid afternoon to homemade cakes!

Most Inspirational Moment

Hard to choose as every day was slightly different

Thoughts on Group Leader

Adrian was great. He was kind, funny and considerate. He took into consideration the levels of fitness for the group he was leading . We had a group meeting every evening for Adrian to let us know about the walk the following day.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Chalet Chalupa had loads of walking poles for guests to use. Sturdy walking boots a must. Just book the holiday and Enjoy!

Awesome

What a week! The hikes were challenging at times but totally worth it as the views at the top were outstanding.
The chalet was comfortable with a variety of delicious home cooked meals by Sebastian and Carolina including cake and coffee on our return.
Chamonix-Mont-Blanc was a lovely experience as well, especially if you have a sweet tooth.
Our guide Adrian was outstanding and he kept the pace steady to suit all of our group.
His energy and enthusiasm was endless and he had us all laughing throughout the week.
Loved the whole experience.

Most Inspirational Moment

Crossing the bouncy suspension bridge, quita feat if you have a fear of heights!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Superb

Advice for Potential Travellers

Book in advance if you want to go up the cable car to Aiguille du Midi as the queues are long. Alternatively go in the pm when it’s quieter.

Catalunya

This is shown in the brochure as category 2 (easy and moderate). However, having been on four Exodus holidays previously of varying levels we hadn’t anticipated how challenging much of the terrain would be (acknowledging it is coastal). This is because much of the terrain was quite steep, of mostly loose gravel, slate and in places rocky. This is OK for a category higher, but in some instances here concentrating on your footing becomes your world, subsequently missing out on enjoying more of the surroundings. There also turned out to be little free time to explore or chill in Cadeques and Bergur. Despite some unanticipated walking challenges this was a very much enjoyable week that provided a great experience of this part of Spain – lovely hotels, great restaurants, the winery and Dali’s house among others – with a lovely group of fellow travellers. Overall, a great week, but it’s a Cat3!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Our guide Alex was simply superb! Affable, helpful, nothing was too much trouble for him and very importantly he cared about everyone’s wellbeing.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Anticipate the walks to be a little more challenging than indicated.

Perfect balance of riding and side activities.

The perfect balance along the gorgeous coast of Portugal! Superb host in Joao and his wingman, Vitor, who led us down beautiful mostly dirt trails. We had just the right amount of side adventures for variety and uniquely enjoyable places to rest our heads each night. Excellent dining with everyone, too! Whether experienced or novice, you’ll love it! We completed our trip September 13th.

Most Inspirational Moment

Too many to list, but each day had at least one highlight that kept us all smiling. Very few boring stretches

Thoughts on Group Leader

Joao kept the pacing perfect and was attentive to every person and every detail. He kept us happy the whole time!

Advice for Potential Travellers

Whether a newbie or a veteran, you’ll be most pleased. I only heard great things from the others as well.

Scintillating Sicily

A fantastic week exploring the Baroque region of Sicily. Great group, absolutely top notch guide Davide who imparted his extensive knowledge of Sicily in an entertaining way. Very scenic route, good stops for swimming and sight seeing, lovely restaurants and bars. Davide was well supported by Sepi the driver/mechanic

Most Inspirational Moment

The gorge and descent on the Noto circular ride

Thoughts on Group Leader

Brilliant, safe, good sense of humour and great local knowledge

Unforgettable ride through a fascinating country

From the night train from Ulaanbaator onwards, this was a trip packed full of memorable moments. Cycling across the steppes, up and down the “killer passes”, navigating the river crossings, camping in the wilds and the savouring the culinary delights rustled up to satiate our appetites will all live long in the memory.

Most Inspirational Moment

Cycling across the steppes with herds of horses racing you. They tend to beat you, but you can give them a run for their money ...

Thoughts on Group Leader

Bata was all you want from a group leader. He was enthusiastic, organized, knowledgeable and attentive.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Even in the summer temperatures can drop after sunset so the fleece and three season sleeping bag are not luxuries but necessities!
