An excellent week with a good balance of walks interspersed with culture (Pompeii etc). We had a completely dry week (in October!) which helped. Good family run hotel wher nothing was too much trouble. Walks reasonably easy (the Exodus rating was about right) A touch too many steps. What gorgeous countryside.

I thought the trip was great: beautiful scenery; walking at a pace suited to the capability of the group; some lovely sightseeing options e.g. Pompeii, Capri and the trip guide (Christine) was super, very enthusiastic and positive.
The views of the coastline were consistently wonderful and the walks were a very enjoyable way to see a really beautiful area.
Christine was great - unfailingly encouraging and good fun.
I was a bit worried as it was my first walking trip and although I walk regularly at the weekends, my usual walk is only about a 6 mile walk along the seafront which is flat. I found the walks very doable as although there is quite a lot of going up/ going down, the pace is very leisurely.
Exodus introduced us to the delights of the Amalfi coast in a relaxed and friendly way so we could enjoy an intimate experience of the area without any of the hassles involved in planning our own trip. An ideal way to travel for those with a week or two to spare, and a desire to get a better knowledge of the country whilst having fun at the same time.
Excellent. Very helpful and especially good with people. He was friendly towards everyone and showed no favouritism or judgement which really helped to make everyone feel welcome. On one or two occasions, members of the walking group got a bit left behind so maybe posting a back marker with a whistle would have been a good way to avoid this, providing one or more members of the group are willing to volunteer.
The walking grade on our holiday was described as easy to moderate. I would say that most days the walks required moderate walking skills rather than easy as there were a large number of steps. this was not a problem for us but it might be for some people
A very enjoyable walking holiday with lots of interest from watchiing cookery demos to visiting a small cheese production factory. Walking was graded correctly.
Seeing the coastline from the top of gorges- a definite WOW factor!
Carung toughtful and very well prepared for all eventualities!
Must like walking down many steps on a hot day! Walk to Amalfi has many steps.
Another brilliant Exodus holiday, my 5th in 5 years. The scenery & walks are amazing with breathtaking views at every turn.
There were many however exploring Pompeii, with a very knowledgeable guide, & then climbing Vesuvious and walking round the crater on my birthday takes some beating! The walk of the gods was spectacular with breathtaking scenery all the way. Also, the jet-boat trip to the island of Capri on the free day was pretty special-well worth doing. We were also invited into the hotel kitchen on two nights during the holiday and given great cooking demonstrations by Giovanni & his fellow chefs-great fun, especially my amateur pizza making attempt!
Christine was absolutely brilliant-friendly, sociable, knowledgeable & highly organised. Her contribution really added to the overall enjoyment of the trip. She even knew all the best bars to visit after the walks!!Thanks Christine.
As various other travellers have said - be prepared to both climb & descend a lot of steps!Your legs & joints quickly adapt to this though. The temperatures in September when we were there were pretty comfortable - mid to high 20's.
This was my frst trip with exodus and it was brilliant. The walks took us up mountains, downs valleys, through forests and into the stunning towns of Amalfi and Positano. I managed to find plenty of time to chat and take photos while walking. I’d recommend it to anyone who likes to go walking.
Floating in the warm sea at Amalfi looking up at the town. The view from the top of Vesuvius. The moon shining brightly over the twinkling lights of the bay at Ravello. My favorite walks were The Walk of the Gods and the Valle de Ferriere NP walk.
Our group leader Jo was friendly and approachable. Jo explained what each day would entail and what we would need to take with us on our walks. She helped us to arrange excursions outside of the itinery for our free day or if people wanted a break from walking and was good company all week. Our guide for Pompeii was excellent and helped to put over the story of the people who lived there.
Book it and go, you will have a great time !! I went at the end of August which was very hot. Walking in 35 degrees is something I have never experienced before, however I still did all of the walks and loved it. I get travel sick so travel sickness bands or tablets are a good idea for the winding roads. Finally there really are a lot of steps!!
The combination of beautiful walks and interesting visits in good company with a superb leader would have been sufficient for a good holiday! Add a comfortable hotel providing fresh, local, seasonal food and it becomes an excellent one.
So many! But being in glorious countryside with far-reaching views was a highlight.
Christine is wonderful! She was always cheerful and encouraging, full of knowledge of the area which she loves and shares with enthusiasm.
It's a wonderful holiday - don't hesitate! Walking with a pole was helpful.
A wonderful week’s holiday with the perfect combination of walking, sunshine, culture, great views, food and company. The family-run Hotel Due Torri is lovely and everyone was extremely kind and welcoming and nothing was ever too much trouble. The food is superb – varied and plenty of it. There’s even freshly-squeezed orange juice for breakfast!
The waterfall in the Valle delle Ferriere National Park and the garden of the Villa Cimbrone in Ravello.
Christine was excellent, looking after us brilliantly and imparting her extensive knowledge of the area in a light-hearted and interesting way.
I'd recommend bringing a heat rub for your calves as they're likely to ache for the first couple of days or so - there are lots of steps!
Lovely walking trails with spectacular views of the coastline, quite rocky in places which could be challenging on the knees/calves/thighs!
Seeing the beautiful coast and the visit to Herculaneum.
Jo Payne was fantastic. Good guide and a great sense of humour. Very caring and helpful. She tended to underplay the walks a little (so this didn't put people off), but we all helped each other and discovered we were actually capable of achieving more than we might have first thought. She was extremely encouraging and gave plenty of breaks with little stories of local knowledge. It was obvious that she was very highly thought of by the local people.
Get reasonably fit first. Poles are a good idea as there are lots of 'undulations' and steps. It is cooler in the mountains than on the coast so a jumper (and pyjamas at night!) is a good idea.
The guide was fantastic – thank you Jo Payne ! Must say the hotel (particularly the restaurant there) in Bomerano was a disappointment. I think we could do a bit better in Italy during the best fruit and veg season in Aug-September than taking pasta for starter, cheese risotto for the main and another main with two chicken thighs and some french fries. The village is 45 min by bus from the main towns so the evening program is limited to the hotel and two empty bars in the village. We were very lucky that the company was really good and it made our holiday.
Jo Payne was excellent! Funny, witty, sporty and inspiring
