Hiking Mont Blank

Amazing experience with a very knowledgeable guide.

Most Inspirational Moment

The best moment for me was the first climb of the week and the view from the mountain. Exilerating!

Thoughts on Group Leader

My leader Adrian was great! Experienced and took care of each of our levels of experience.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Ensure you are prepared for the steep climbs and tough downhills.

Mongolian Horizons

An amazing trip across the steppes of Mongolia. Each day revealed new horizons and a greater appreciation of the vastness of this remote country.

Most Inspirational Moment

Whilst slightly cliched the experience of cycling alongside running horses was amazing.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Bata was an absolutely top notch leader with a great understanding of group dynamics. Always informative, a good sense of humour and a great ambassador for his country.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Enjoy the opportunity for a digital detox although a local sim card does appear to work across most of the journey. If happy to wait though there is a chance to connect to WiFi half-way through the trip at a cafe in Tsetserleg. Although wild camping there is the 'luxury' of a cold shower at the end of a day's cycling but take some wipes to freshen up in the morning. The trip in August wasn't as cold as expected but take some warm clothes nevertheless. Take a power bank for your phone if taking lots of photos but there is the ability to power-up devices from the support vehicle or via the mobile generator.

Mont Blanc Hiking Highlights

I don’t think it was luck that we all got on so well together. This was a result of the skills of our guide Adrian who connected with the group nurturing confidence and connection.

Most Inspirational Moment

Feeling connected to the people and the landscape was a surprise...I thought I would be too busy getting to the summit...I enjoyed every bit of the experience.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Adrian's approach to a diverese group was wholly professional. His empathic, flexible approach helped to build relationships and confidence without pressure collaborating with anyone who voiced concerns about a proposed trek. Adrian went consistently above and beyond in and out of the walk, helping us to pin down local activities out of the hike, offering support when needed and continuously contributing to our knowledge of the area. We all laughed out loiud a lot, magic!

Excellent experience

Great: the chalet, the hosts, Chamonix, the guide, the hikes, the rest day, my fellow hikers
Not great: the altitude, at least at the beginning, then I got more used to it

Most Inspirational Moment

Getting to the tops of the climbs, seeing Mont Blanc

Thoughts on Group Leader

Adrian was fun, energetic, encouraging, and patient.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Hike, a lot, uphill…if possible at altitude. It will be hard, it will be worth it.

Amazing Week

Each daily hike was carefully curated by our guide to best fit our group and the weather to showcase the Mont Blanc Tour. Breathtaking! The hospitality shown through our accommodation and food was excellent.

Most Inspirational Moment

Achieving the summit on our first day and experiencing the panoramic views.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Adrian was fantastic. He was expert at knowing the hiking trails, safety and supporting/ guiding us at our individual skill levels. Such a personable leader. He was the key to the successful week.

Advice for Potential Travellers

The hikes are challenging and require a certain level of cardiovascular fitness. If you can, go a day or so ahead of time to acclimatize to the altitude and recover from any travel fatigue. Enjoy the camaraderie of your group- hearing about their different hiking experiences and backgrounds is part of our he journey.

Walking in Sardinia

Booking was easy and flight options discussed. Everyone was very helpful and it makes you feel looked after. Our guide Toni Sardo was excellent. Hotel owner Massi, his wife Marilena and family were kind and helpful

Most Inspirational Moment

Every day was a highlight. Impossible to choose. I was travelling with friends and got to know everyone in the group. Our group were the best so thank you to each and every one of you for a fantastic holiday experience

Thoughts on Group Leader

Toni went above and beyond for our group. He got to know all of our very sociable group and could see when someone needed a little rest and water stop. He provided alternative walks for some folks who did not want or were unable to do the planned walks. We all went to a local restaurant to have traditional foods which was another highlight of the trip. Overall it was a fantastic holiday with a great bunch of people led by an enthusiastic outstanding leader. To be recommended.

Life Changing

Life Changing sounds dramatic, a little over the top perhaps. But for me, personally that’s what this trip was.

Most Inspirational Moment

It's almost impossible to choose one moment as being the most inspiring; there were so many, but i'll give it a go. The welcome meeting. I travelled with a friend, and we arrived as the welcome meeting was starting; everyone gathered around a big table outside the hotel, coffees, beers in hand. A big map set out on the table. Jeff our guide for the tour briefed us on the trip, what to expect. I remember he painted a vivid picture of an adventure to come. I felt like a Hobbit about to set off on some great quest. fizzing with excitement.

Thoughts on Group Leader

This is such an unfair question in many ways. It can often come down to personalities either meshing or not. I think I would speak for our whole group when I say Jeff; our guide was exceptional. He is one of the most personable men I have ever met; he is calm, confident, considerate, clearly an expert in his field with an immense knowledge of natural history he is more than willing to share with you, and make accessible via his excellent mini lectures given on the trail, which got our attention and wonder every time. Jeff's ability to make everything seem effortless meant that we could all become somewhat lazy and simply sink into enjoying the best parts of the tour, without having to worry about any logistics.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Its hard to know what advice would be needed for other travellers. Exodus provide clear advice on what you need to take, what to expect; all necessary information is provided very clearly. I would say; the trip seems expensive, and its fair to say it isn't cheap. There is a saying in marketing "The quality is remembered long after the price is forgotten". That applies in this case. I could not fault one part of the whole experience; leadership, accommodation, food, itinerary, organisation, anything and everything needed to make this a memorable experience that will stay with me forever was included. People talk about expectations around trips of this sort. I can honestly say it exceeded my expectations in every measurable metric. Thank you to the whole team involved in putting together this trip. I will be booking with Exodus in the very near future.

Highlights of Albania

The knowledge of our quide was exceptional. Everyone was well planned. We also had great travel companions

Most Inspirational Moment

There was do much to see, so its difficult to name one. The views are fantastic. They hit better and better.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Artur was excellent with great love and knowledge of Albania. He was keen to show us how much Albania had to offer and will offer in the future. I was ill at one point and he was very attentive, caring and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. He helped the traveller with difficulty walking, which held us up on occasions and meant extra work for Artur, Less free time for him. He was fun and answered all questions fully. He also has a great sense of humour.

Walking in Sardinia

What an amazing week. One of my favourite exodus holidays. The itinerary was outstanding and Tony was a fantastic guide.

Most Inspirational Moment

Walks, boat ride, swim on the beach, gorge walk, going inside the cliff. Also small touches like the wine tasting at the coach drivers house. Really personal touch

Thoughts on Group Leader

We were so lucky to have Tony as our guide. He really made the holiday fantastic! Very personable, knowledgeable and he clearly loves the trip too. He couldn't have been more helpful and really wanted us to have a fantastic time. Our group really bonded and I think that was partly due to Tony's guiding skills.

A revelation

This was our first ‘cultural’ Exodus holiday although we’ve done lots of Exodus cycling holidays. We went not knowing much about the area so it was wonderful to find it so enjoyable. There was a good mix of learning about the region, relaxing, and tours of caves, olive groves and some of the more important towns in the area. Transfers weren’t too long (usually under an hour) and accommodation was excellent for the most part. The nature of the accommodation meant that we all had different style rooms in most locations, which was good fun comparing.

Most Inspirational Moment

The Trulli village. I loved every minute and would have loved to stay longer

Thoughts on Group Leader

Ioana was amazing. So patient and always available to help if needed. Very knowledgeable about the area too. I have a food intolerance and she made it so easy for me to get what I needed. Also thanks to Leo who was assisting.

Advice for Potential Travellers

This was a great time of year to go - not too hot. Take every opportunity to go on any optional excursions offered. Shoes with a good grip are essential because of the slippy steps in Matera and other areas.
