If you find yourself 125mi (200km) north of the Arctic Circle, make sure to stay at Rajamaa in northern Sweden, the chalets run by our Expert Leader Lars. He’s been navigating these wild lands for decades and leading tours here for the best part of 40 years. He’s passionate about the local nature and wildlife, protecting it through ecofriendly initiatives, such as favouring local produce in the restaurant kitchen and minimising the use of transport and motor vehicles. As he likes to say: “The forest is good for the soul”. The Rajamaa team even won a Nature’s Best award, the only sustainability label for nature-based experiences in Sweden. Lars has expert knowledge in the wildlife of Sápmi (Lapland) as well as local history and culture.
