Itinerary Expand allBishopston to Bishopston Day 1 Arrive BishopstonOur start point is a lovely boutique hotel in the heart of the Bishopston Valley just a short distance from The Mumbles. In the evening our guide will hold a welcome meeting to discuss the week ahead, give advice and answer any questions. We'll then have our first meal together. Meals included: Dinner Day 2 Gower Coastal PathWe begin with a transfer to Llanrhidian Salt Marsh, an area designated an Area of Special Scientific Interest. It is also covered by the sea at high tide so we'll start at a brisk pace! We also enjoy the Whiteford Burrows Nature Reserve, a protected area full of rare flora and numerous species of bird including wildfowl and waders. Our day continues with a traverse of the dunes of Rhossili Bay to see one of the UK's most beautiful beaches where we end our first day's walk. Meals included: Breakfast Day 3 Rhossili Bay to Port EynonFrom Rhossili Bay, we set out for Worm's Head. This rocky promontory offers sweeping views of Rhossili Bay. If tides allow we'll explore the promontory itself. Looking back on the 5km stretch of Rhossili Bay's sands, few would argue it's not worth the detour. Back on the mainland, we enjoy a clifftop walk to Port Eynon. Again tide permitting, we may explore the ruins of the Salt House. We then transfer back to our base. Meals included: Breakfast Day 4 Follow the coastal path through Oxwich Burrows to Three Cliffs BayLeaving behind sandy beaches as we head to the limestone cliffs, we walk through Oxwich Burrows National Nature Reserve. Here there is a rare mix of fresh and salt marshes, cliffs and woodland and another of the Welsh coast's beautiful beaches. We then come to Three Cliffs Bay where in summer lizards can be seen basking in the sun. There should also be visibility to Pennard Castle, originally built in the 12th century, though the stone ruins on show today are from a rebuild in the 13th and 14th centuries. Meals included: Breakfast Day 5 Southgate, Pwlldu Head, Mumbles LighthouseThe final section of the path leads from Southgate along high cliffs to Pwlldu Head. The bays and coves along the way are gloriously untouched and as we reach the end of the headland the Mumbles Lighthouse appears in the distance, standing proudly for over 200 years just off the coast on a small island. The seaside town of Mumbles itself lies just a little further on, marking the end of the Gower Coastal Path and a fitting way to end our journey. Meals included: Breakfast Day 6 End BishopstonTime to say goodbye to this beautiful corner of Wales. Meals included: Breakfast

Reviewed June 2022 Clive CopemanStunning scenery. Wonderful scenery in a quiet, unspoilt area of the UK. Great group of fellow walkers and a friendly and enthusiastic leader. What did you think of your group leader? Cari was very dedicated and caring. She did her best to cater for all abilities during our walks and was good company in the evenings.Do you have any advice for potential travellers? Take good waterproofs !Is there anything else you would like to add? I felt that the first day's walking was a little stretch too far. We got back to the hotel around 6.45 pm, having left at 9.30 am. We were all wet through and pretty tired and had just 45 mins to shower, change etc. before Sunday dinner at 7.30pm

Heated Towel rail not working and I felt that plumbing and electrical needed attention Breakfast was very poor, cheap bread and random consistency Two dinners included but the same menu I would not recommend hotelWhat was the most inspirational moment of your trip? Enjoying a swim on the last walking day Excellent walking Fabulous views Seeing a pair of choughs Gin tasting was funWhat did you think of your group leader? Ceri was knowledgable and kept a good pace Occasionally we had rather long to wait for return transport She organised dinners in the pubs in the village which as a solo traveller I appreciated
Reviewed September 2021 Vicki BarwickGive the Gower a go! Really enjoyable short break walking the Gower Coastal path. The scenery is surprisingly varied - from salt marsh to rugged cliffs and vast sandy beaches. The walking is mainly on well defined paths with a few rocky sections. There are some steep ascents (rewarded by amazing views) and descents but they are relatively short. The Gower Hotel is a great base for the trip. The staff are really friendly and there is a nice bar and restaurant. We had an excellent local guide (Cari) who passed on lots of interesting info during the walks. She was also really helpful in arranging lunches and dinners for the nights we didn’t eat at the hotel. The visit to the Gower Gin distillery (which included a very generous gin tasting !) was an enjoyable addition to the itinerary. What did you think of your group leader? Cari was great - extensive local knowledge and a real enthusiasm for showcasing the best the region has to offer.
Reviewed June 2021 Anna CheerA spectacularly beautiful part of the country for a short break. We had such a good 4 days of walking, lucky enough to be blessed with a friendly, chatty group and perfect walking weather, dry, mostly sunshine but not too hot. The route has a surprising amount of variety, shaded woodland, marshes, glorious golden sandy beaches, cliffs, coves, rocky shores and seaside resorts. The itinerary was relaxed enough to enable several members of the group to have a brief swim each day. The unexpected opportunity to visit Gower Gin, a micro distillery, was thoroughly enjoyed by us all! Be aware that, unlike many Exodus trips, this is not an all-inclusive holiday. This did result in a few problems organising food. What was the most inspirational moment of your trip? Regularly being rewarded with such spectacular views after fairly modest climbs. What did you think of your group leader? Cari was enthusiastic, endlessly cheerful and worked so hard to make sure we all had a good holiday. It was such an advantage to have an experienced (Welsh-speaking) local outdoor activity guide, with all her local knowledge. As this was a new Exodus trip, with all the extra complications that resulted from COVID19 (erratic opening times and added time for service in cafes etc etc), she and the two members of Exodus staff who joined us for a couple of days, Claire and Sarah, did a brilliant job trouble shooting. All three were a delight to holiday with.Do you have any advice for potential travellers? Go! The Gower coast is beautiful and worth discovering. The walking is mostly gentle but with a few steep climbs and descents. Is there anything else you would like to add? In these troubled times, we felt perfectly confident in the COVID19 precautions. We breakfasted in our rooms, wore masks on the minibus, had to provide evidence of vaccinations or tests and had limited numbers at tables when indoors.
