Itinerary Expand allAgerola to Agerola Fly to Naples; transfer to Agerola. Those on the group flights will be met in Naples airport by the tour leader. A transfer of approximately 1 hour 20 minutes takes us to the Hotel Due Torri, our base for the week in the village of Bomerano, on the Agerola plains above the Amalfi Coast. Enjoy a warm welcome from local hosts the Acampora family before settling in. Land only clients can arrive at any time, although we do recommend arrival by approximately 8pm to meet the rest of the group and enjoy a first dinner together. Meals included: Dinner Day 1 Start Agerola. Those on group flights fly to Naples, where they will be met by their tour leader on arrival. A transfer of approximately 1 hour 20 minutes takes us to the Hotel Due Torri, our base for the week in the village of Bomerano, on the Agerola plains above the Amalfi Coast. Enjoy a warm welcome from our local hosts, the Acampora family, before settling in. Land only clients can arrive at any time, although we do recommend to join the group at the airport as public transport options to the hotel are limited. Meals included: Dinner Day 2 An impressive walk to top of Monte Tre Calli for great wide open views of the coastline. From the hotel, it's a short stroll to the village square (or in the case of Bomerano, a triangle) and the start of today’s walk. The circular route provides a good chance to stretch the legs; following a mixture of paths and tracks we ascend to the top of Monte Tre Calli to be rewarded with spectacular wide-open views of the jagged coastline and seemingly endless blue sea. The Agerola Plain and the village of Bomerano are laid out below us and on a clear day, we can see as far as the famous island of Capri, a haven and idyllic hideaway for many celebrated artists and writers over the past 200 years. After admiring the majestic scenery descend to Bomerano and enjoy some rest time before a hearty dinner. Meals included: Breakfast Lunch Dinner Day 3 Follow mule tracks and steps down to Amalfi; free afternoon to explore the famous cathedral or the Paper Mill Museum.Start walking towards Amalfi, a town popular with the British since Edwardian times when the upper classes favoured it as a pleasant place to spend their winters. The route has a downhill bias, following the path from Bomerano at 700m to the shores of the Mediterranean, accompanied by wonderful coastal views. There are sections of steps today (approx. 2000 in total), but there are also plenty of opportunities to rest and go at your own pace. On arrival, you will see the large Duomo (Cathedral) dominating the town with its brightly-coloured tiled cupola (dome), which along with the baroque facade and interior, is a typical example of regional architecture. Take some time to explore the town, swim in the small bay, or enjoy a well-earned gelato before taking the transfer back to Bomerano. Meals included: Breakfast Lunch Dinner Day 4 Drive to Bay of Naples; visit fascinating ruins of Pompeii and take an optional walk up the vast crater of Mt Vesuvius.Transfer to the Bay of Naples, the area spanning between the region’s capital city, Naples, and the town famed for its lemon groves, Sorrento. Situated on the lower foothills of the volcano dominating the Gulf, Pompeii was a thriving port town until Vesuvius’ catastrophic eruption spanning two days in 79AD during which the city was buried in ash and pumice. Lost for 1700 years, Pompeii is now a UNESCO World Heritage site as the perfectly preserved remains give us an amazing insight into life in a Roman city, complete with bathhouses, bakeries, and homes – some of which still have walls adorned with detailed frescoes. You may take some time to explore the site this morning, perhaps opting for a detailed tour accompanied by a local guide. After lunch, travel by bus high up onto the slopes of Vesuvius to view the volcanic crater. Depending on weather conditions, it may be possible to take one of the many extended walks around the caldera and beyond, led by an expert volcanologist (optional). Meals included: Breakfast Dinner Day 5 Walk from Ravello to Amalfi through the forests of the Valle delle Ferriere natural reserve.Today's walk starts in Ravello, a town much favoured by the Bloomsbury set and other artists and intellectuals due to its secluded location and inspirational scenery. Before setting off for the walk we have some free time to explore the town and visit Villa Cimbrone or Villa Rufolo with their meticulously landscaped gardens and breath-taking views out to the sea (optional). The route today is mostly downhill but it does include a considerable amount of steps. After descending and taking a quick stop in the village of Pontone, we continue through wooden bridges and shady paths carpeted with wild flowers in season, to the beautiful moss-clad waterfalls within the closed gates of the Valle delle Ferriere National Park. Finally, following the stream gently downwards through lemon groves, past the shells of former paper factories (a major local industry from the 12th to 19th centuries) and mediaeval ironworks we reach Amalfi. Meals included: Breakfast Lunch Dinner Day 6 Free day to relax or take a boat to Capri, visit Naples or Herculaneum (all optional).Today we have a day at leisure to relax at the hotel or go down to the seafront. The hotel also offers private transfers (payable locally) to the most popular attractions in the region not covered during the rest of the week, including the city of Herculaneum. Also destroyed during the disaster of 79AD, Herculaneum was buried in mud rather than ash and it is said that this lead to the site being even better preserved than the bigger Pompeii. You might instead choose to take a ferry to the chic island of Capri and the funicular through lemon groves up to Capri town. These optional excursions can be arranged locally by your leader. Alternatively, spend the free day by the pool or in true Italian style in a café, sipping espresso and watching the world go by! Meals included: Breakfast Day 7 'Walk of the Gods' with superb panoramic views all the way to Positano; return by boat to Amalfi; try some locally-made Mozzarella cheese.A fitting finale to the week is one of the world's finest day walks. Leaving the hotel it's a short stroll through the quiet village of Bomerano before we join the ‘Sentiero degli Dei’ (Walk of the Gods), thus named as it provides some of the most evocative views in the world, of ragged cliffs speckled with tiny villages and extensive views of the sparkling Mediterranean sea. The route follows undulating hills, carpeted with flowers in season, the contours of the land, and the coast. The trail is broken by insights into local life, passing shepherds huts and ancient stone houses carved into the limestone before we descend a long series of steps to the colourful Positano, an almost vertical town clinging to the rock face of a sheltered bay. Take some time to explore the alleyways lined with wisteria and designer boutiques or have a dip in the clear water of the beachfront before returning to Bomerano by boat and bus (seasonal) in the late afternoon. During the week many meals will have included some delicious local smoked mozzarella cheese and before dinner, we will have the chance to see how it is made and taste the mouth-wateringly fresh final product. Meals included: Breakfast Lunch Dinner To Naples; fly to London.Transfer to Naples; fly to London. Meals included: Breakfast Day 8 End Agerola.Trip ends in Bomerano. Meals included: Breakfast

Hotel Due Torri We spend 7 nights at the 3-star Hotel Due Torri in Bomerano, a small village in the municipality of Agerola set high above the Amalfi Coast at an altitude of approximately 700m. Run by the warm and welcoming Acampora family, the Hotel Due Torri is well known for its great local cuisine, providing authentic dishes of the Campania region as well as fun pizza-making demonstrations. All rooms have en suite facilities, air conditioning, TV with international channels, and free Wi-Fi.A limited number of superior rooms (with facilities including Jacuzzi bath, power showers, and fridge) are also available for a supplement payable pre-departure. Please ask your sales consultant for further info.Being higher up in the hills the property offers the benefit of cooler nights, although beaches are not too far away and there is a small outdoor pool (usually open from mid-April to mid-October, weather dependent). The village is generally quiet and provides a relaxing contrast to the busier towns by the sea.On occasion, if the hotel is full you might be offered (upon booking) to stay at an alternative accommodation located within walking distance from the Due Torri. Guests staying at alternative accommodation will still make use of all the facilities of Hotel Due Torri, including the pool and restaurant.

Reviewed June 2022 Isabel TurleyExciting and stretching! Very enjoyable. The number of steps on several of the walks was daunting and I had very stiff legs for days! I think it is more of a 3 rather than a 2/3.What was the most inspirational moment of your trip? Walking round the rim of Vesuvius crater with a volcanologist. What did you think of your group leader? Good. He tended to get rather anxious, and didn't always track the stragglers.
Reviewed June 2022 Mary GottwaldHighly recommended A really enjoyable week with a good variety of activities. A nice friendly hotel with good food. What was the most inspirational moment of your trip? The sceneryWhat did you think of your group leader? Roberta was an excellent, informative leader who looked after us brilliantly. Is there anything else you would like to add? A very good week. Last year I did the walking in Cornwall walk which was classified as a grade 3. Amalfi is a grade 2 but more challenging than Cornwall.
Reviewed June 2022 Gwendoline ThrowerAmalfi This was an excellent trip, great companions and leader. I and several others did think it would have been better to have the hardest walk later in the week when we had time to build up stamina and acclimatise to the heat. What was the most inspirational moment of your trip? CapriWhat did you think of your group leader? Terese was wonderfulDo you have any advice for potential travellers? Check the weather I went 4th June and temp was around 35c much too hot.
Reviewed June 2022 John CoppockSuperb hiking holiday A wonderful hiking holiday of five stunning walks on the Amalfi coast, including the legendary Path of the Gods and a trip around the Vesuvius crater rim. Brilliantly organised to include a mix of hiking terrains, scenery and the Italian coastal towns that were such a joy to visit (plus Pompeii), every day was a scintillating new experience. The family-run hotel was great, the dinners were good, as were the members of the 14-strong group - the like-minded and friendly nature of my fellow group members is something that makes Exodus holidays so enjoyable. Bringing all this together was our brilliant tour guide Teresa, who got us all up and down the hills with considerable aplomb. Highly recommended for anyone who likes hiking, scenery, good company, and a well-organised week's adventure holiday! What was the most inspirational moment of your trip? The Path of the Gods - breathtaking. What did you think of your group leader? Teresa was superb - well organised, very helpful, good humoured, and fluent in Italian.Do you have any advice for potential travellers? You need to be fitter than you think for this!Is there anything else you would like to add? To make the trip even better, I would advise the inclusion of some sort of organised day trip to Naples on the free day. Arranging this ourselves (due to a lack of numbers of those interested at the time) proved too difficult. Maybe try to lay something on.
Reviewed June 2022 Anne BoothWalking the Amalfi Coast An enjoyable trip - thanks I want, above all, to write about travelling to Italy and back by train. I was so pleased that you have added train travel to trips and I really enjoyed getting there and back this way. When I mentioned it to people in my group, most were unaware that it was an option and said they would have done it too had they known it was a possibility. I think it needs to be flagged up much more prominently and perhaps featured more prominently in your promotional material. I booked a couple of extra days here and there and had such a good time exploring cities and extending the holiday. A couple of notes: I booked in January? and was given details of hotels at that time. I was also asked to pay an additional £30 to cover hotel costs. I was contacted again much later about the travel arrangements and given details of a second set of hotels. When the train tickets were finally secured, only a couple of weeks before I went, I was given the details of a third set of hotels. Not great as I wasted time printing out details and looking the hotels up. I don't understand either why the train tickets were not bought sooner. I understood that they would be un-refundable and had taken out insurance to cover myself. Surely, it would have been cheaper for Exodus to buy them as soon as possible? I was also booked on a slow stopping train between Naples and Florence, meaning I lost out on time there. All the hotels were fine, although I was asked to pay for the Turin hotel. I have been in touch about this already and this is in hand. One point though: the Park Palace Hotel in Florence was lovely and in a beautiful part of the city, but I spent £50 on taxis getting from and to the stations which I thought was rather too much.
Reviewed May 2022 Carole NorthA Jolly Good Holiday We were lucky enough to have the right kind of weather, and as a group we all got on very well, and lead by our guide Veriano. Loved our day to Vesuvius and Pompei. The hotel is nice but for me the food was rather dull and unadventurous. Often after our dinner we would go to the piazza for a walk and coffee. There were 3 Exodus Group on our particular week, and many of us wanted to go to Herculaneum, and this was arranged for us, as an add on, on our way back to the airport. Overall it was a good holiday and would recommend. What was the most inspirational moment of your trip? When Veriano, our guide, showed such patience, kindness and care as he helped one of our party who was having a bit of difficulty on the very rocky Path of the Gods. What did you think of your group leader? Veriano was fun, he understood our humour and even joined in with our teasing. He was quite strict, in the nicest way, when I wanted to walk in my sandals. He made go and change them for my shoes. ……. I am glad he did!Do you have any advice for potential travellers? The accommodation is half way up the mountain. Most of the walks are going down hill, which suites me very well and there are many steps!!!
Reviewed May 2022 Melanie SoutherdenFabulous holiday From the day I booked, Exodus were totally professional. I was greeted at the airport by the very friendly and helpful guide Tony and so a wonderful week started. I was lucky enough to have a wonder group of 16 people of a similar ability, so each day ran smoothly. On one day, the planned route had to be changed due to a land fall, but an alternative route was found. Exodus ensure their walkers' safety at all times and Tony made sure that everyone felt included. Vesuvius was breath-taking and the views were out of this world. On our free day, all of us went across to Capri and enjoyed the island at our own pace. The hotel was friendly, clean and e were lucky enough to get a dip in the pool. The pizza and tiramisu demonstrations were great, as by then we had got to know each other so it all the more enjoyable to watch our friend making the food. What was the most inspirational moment of your trip? Every day was wonderful, but Vesuvius and Pompeii were stunning, the Path of The Gods was also lovley. What did you think of your group leader? Tony was a great guide, he chatted, helped and guided us - 3 of us are booking againDo you have any advice for potential travellers? Read the guidance notes, buy good boots, train before you go.Is there anything else you would like to add? Have already booked the Sardinia trio for October 2022
Reviewed May 2022 David WellsStepping up (and down) A very good walking area with magnificent views on good days. The week is full on with some extra events thrown in which we enjoyed. The hotel is comfortable and the food prepared by chef is very good. The guide was very knowledgeable about the area and looked after us well. What was the most inspirational moment of your trip? Vesuvius, Pompeii, Herculaneum and Walk of the GodsWhat did you think of your group leader? Very good leader always keeping the group together, giving us regular breathers (which we needed) and looking out for the well being of the group members. Very knowledgeable about the area.Do you have any advice for potential travellers? Be prepared for a LOT of steps, they are not kidding when they say in the trip notes there are 1500 (we suspect there are more) and they vary in construction, walking poles for the preservation of knees essential. If you get the chance to walk the rim of Vesuvius take it, good grip shoes/boots and poles will easily get you up the short scramble to the rim itself. We thought about going to Herculaneum on our free day but we actually did that on the way to the airport which was far better. The trip to Capri which we actually opted for on that day was well worth it.Is there anything else you would like to add? Personally I would grade some of the walks 3 rather than 2 especially Amalfi and Monte Tre Calli.
Reviewed May 2022 Janet Florence Walking the Amalfi Coast A great area to explore. In my view the holiday should be graded moderate due to the terrain and topography. By its very nature this coast is steep and there are gradients everywhere. Every walk involves thousand of steps. So prospective travellers should be aware. The family run three star hotel due Torri is lovely set in a pretty village Bomerano. Good food and comfortable rooms. We did find the dining room very noisy though. Picnics are good and tasty. As usual everything was extremely well organised by Exodus and our lovely guide Teresa was superb. What was the most inspirational moment of your trip? Visiting Herculaneum and Ravello. What did you think of your group leader? Superb!! Could not fault her.Do you have any advice for potential travellers? Please see above about my grading opinion. We are fit but found the walks tough as did many of our group. That said the views are stunning and well worth it.
Reviewed April 2022 Mark ButterworthThe Real Walk of the Gods A very full week of walking and yes, lovely food and wine at the hotel. Amalfi, Positano, Mt Vesuvius and Pompeii, walks in the hills and a touch of coffee culture are the highlights of this trip. What was the most inspirational moment of your trip? The first view of Positano from the Walk of the Gods is mesmerising and stopped everyone in their tracks. Smiles all round and a great photo opportunity. The winding path brings sight of over-hanging cliffs, running streams, unusual flowers and the best sea view. What did you think of your group leader? Our group leader was excellent - she had a detailed knowledge of the area and set a steady and considered pace for the walking. She had a lovely manner, engaged with the whole group and managed the weather-related changes to the itinerary very effectively.Do you have any advice for potential travellers? Be prepared for the "moderate" end of the walks - nothing over straining but the walks might leave you needing a nap in the late afternoon! Is there anything else you would like to add? If you don't use the free day to take a boat to Capri, or the bus to Sorrento, consider a trip to Naples Archeological Museum for a close-up look at the fantastic relics from Pompeii and Herculaneum.
