An amazing experience on our first trip to the Rockies and our first trip with Exodus

The whole trip was breath- taking, with a new view around every corner. The scenery was just stunning, made even more so with the near enough perfect weather we had. We enjoyed walking in the mountains and around the lakes and also all the other activities on offer – a boat trip on Maligne Lake, guided hike on the glacier, canoeing on Emerald Lake and the cable cars at Jasper and Banff. Also, the restaurants chosen for evening dinners were very good and offered plenty of choice.

Most Inspirational Moment

Views of all the mountains, waterfalls and lakes were awesome. We particularly enjoyed the glacier hike as it was a new experience and really beautiful to see the blue, sparkling ice and crevasses. We had a couple of swims in Emerald Lake and Pyramid Lake, which was chilly but amazing in the crystal-clear water.

Our guide Isabel Aguilar made the trip so special for us, we cannot thank her enough. She had fantastic knowledge of local geography, geology, history and wildlife which really enhanced the trip. She encouraged us on all the walks and gave excellent advice on any activities that we wanted to undertake. She also gave us tips for our extra 5 days in Banff after the tour had finished and the picnic lunches she prepared for us were truly delicious.

Advice for Potential Travellers

One thing to note is that the Athabasca Glacier walk requires payment in cash of Canadian $120 per person plus a tip for the local guide, so you need to take enough cash with you if you plan to do this activity.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Plan ahead as there is a lot of free time in Zagreb. Walking is easy and there is plenty of free time too. You will need extra money for lunch, snacks and dinners and the local guides on Krk, Cres and Opatja as well as the driver. Consider going to Zagreb a day early to settle in as the start of the week is quite tiring with a lot of travel. Food is excellent and comes in large quantities!

And amazing holiday. If you want to see the best of Sicily and love history, archaeology and want to k own more about the culture this is an excellent holiday

Tiziano was amazing. Excellent knowledge. Very approachable, friendly and fantastic sense of humour. He organised some group dinners so the party bonded which added to the holiday. The local guides he organised were extremely knowledgeable and made history come alive. On the coach Tiziano gave us interesting and helpful information and had us in stitches. Definitely the best guide we have ever had.

Wildlife, culture, history and architecture in abundance

Excellent tour with good variety of things to see and do. I booked extra days either side of the tour to explore Lima as the tour essentially starts and ends there, with no time for sightseeing or exploring unless you arrive earlier or leave later.

Most Inspirational Moment

Wildlife at the Ballestas Islands, including dolphins and whale, seeing the penguins, although they were rather high up. Seeing flamingos in the wild and also flying for the first time. Seeing the condors in the Colca Valley. Machu Picchu no. 1 highlight. Alternative Sacred Valley trip including the salt mines at Maras. Cusco and Lake Titicaca. The scenery, mountains, valleys. Architecture in Cusco.

Renzo is a brilliant tour leader, one of the best. He took our wellbeing very seriously with altitude and checking on us daily whilst at high altitude very seriously: pulse oximeter readings and assessments re symptoms. He was helpful and listened to what we wanted to see and do, adding in a few extra activities not mentioned in the itinerary . He arranged an alternative tour of the Sacred Valley that was not listed on tour details. His knowledge was immense and he had a good sense of humour.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Book extra day(s) either side of the tour in Lima to see something of the city otherwise you won't get to see it. The hotel is well out of the centre, in the Miraflores district. Before I went away I pre-booked Magic Circuit Fountain Show for my first evening pre-tour, excellent start. I found US dollars were not shown or accepted in shops I went in, credit cards were accepted in restaurants and larger shops. Walking poles ARE allowed in Machu Picchu (but with rubber tip and not spikes), information on internet etc says they are not allowed. Long sticks of wood available at M.Picchu for those who needed them. All hotels in Aguas Caliente start breakfast at 5 am so 7 am entry for second visit to M.Picchu is best if you want to get there early and have breakfast before queuing for the bus. The gift for the homestays on Lake Titicaca was rice or bread bought by the tour leader out of the tipping kitty, which was allowed for in total amount), save you buying something back home. Useful item re donations to bring are old glasses. Free day in Cusco with optional day/half day trips - ask about the alternative Sacred Valley trip if it is not offered to you - Maras Salt Mines (spectacular), Moray and Chinchero (including visit to textile centre), instead of the one that went to Ollayantambo and Pisac. It's worthwhile doing a bit of research pre-holiday on these tours so you can make an informed decision at the time and know what you want to do. When in Arequipa, pick-up time for flying back to Lima is 3.30 pm so you get a good 4 hours free time in Arequipa after the guided tour of the convent, enough to see other sights, have lunch and do a bit of last minute shopping.

Atlas Trek and Summit

An enjoyable hike through the Atlas Mountains of Morocco, including the summit of Toubkal the highest peak in North Africa.

We started the summit day at 04:30 and experienced sunrise during our ascent.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Mohamed was a capable and competent leader. The trek was well organised and he communicated well with the group.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Toubkal is lower altitude and a shorter trek than Kilimanjaro and EBC, so could prove as a good starter to gain experience for those new to this type of activity.

A full on cultural experience

This trip was more than I expected thanks to our guide. She made each day flow smoothly and organized evening meals for those of us who wanted to enjoy it with the group.

I think Carla's knowledge of Portugal is inspiring. She knew each monumental place we visited inside out. The buildings were all inspiring and filled with so much history. It is a beautiful country.

Carla Costa is an incredibly knowledgeable guide. It was a full on history lesson when Carla each place Carla brings you. She made very good use of the kitty money by not just getting us into different places, but also let us experience local treats.

Advice for Potential Travellers

It can be very hot and sometimes there is walking on uneven ground for much of the day. All places for meals with the group takes credit card and very few small places you find on your own take cash only. Tap water in Portugal is safe, but expect to pay for water otherwise. Food items automatically places on the table are charged to you if you start consume it. You have to option to turn it down and they will take it away and you won't be charged.

Quick and Easy climb. Porterage was perfect.

Everything was well organised, on time and looked after on your behalf. The quality of the food was excellent – always surprising what the chef can rustle up in the mountains in his chefs tent. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the porters / muleteers.

Pace during the week was good, the whole group was always together and we all made the summit thanks to Mohamed. Shame about the summit views with the cloud base on summit morning – you never can guarantee a view at the top .. but the rest of the weather was blue skies the whole way – got some awesome pics.

The group individuals was amazing, as they always are with an Exodus trip – we even had a couple of Americans on our group, which made for great discussions.

Most Inspirational Moment

Seeing different cultural from around the world is why I do these treks. On this trip you see everything from the city life to the mountain villages - always humbling.

Mohamed was awesome. Very knowledgeable, briefings were spot on. He organised a great first night meal in Marrakesh as a group. He even went the extra mile after we finished in organising excursions & activities for us.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Summit day is the longest day, with an early breakfast and then a 8hr wait until lunch. Bring plenty of snacks for summit day - you'll need them. Pro tip - pack sweets too, great for sharing with the group.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Most of my points have already been covered by other reviews…but would add that this trip works particularly well as regards tagging on extra days either pre or post the Group Travel Itinerary dates. In our case we arrived at (the Group hotel, excellent) Ubud 3 nights early and enjoyed temples, walking through villages, meals, shopping and adjusting our body clocks. We also stayed on a few nights in the Group Hotel in Canngu…though in truth the hotel is probably more at the top of Seminyak…which has a more established feel to it, than Canngu which has a more hipster, surfer feel. Actually some of the nicest groupings of bars and restaurants we found in the area, were just along the seafront to the left of the Group Hotel.

Namibia camping

A scenic trip in a dedicated truck to Namibian areas not normal visited. fabulous scenery, Geology and local people with just (for me) the right amount of wildlife viewing. The group (12) got on really well and enjoyed lots of fun and experiences

Most Inspirational Moment

All the trip was inspiring but the most outstanding areas were Dune 45 and Deadvelei, Solitaire campsite (with it's own bakery), Swakopmund, Brandburg, Night drive searching for wildlife

Mike (leader) MC ( cook assistant) Neil (Exodus staff) were all excellent team leaders. Mike was very knowledgeable with MC providing super meals (even vegan) and Neil providing insights into the operations of the company Exodus.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Some of the backroads are not as developed as the main roads leading to a bumpy ride in the truck. Acceptable in order to visit the more remote locations. Take plenty of camera picture capacity
