Great introduction to the delights of Andalucia

Lovely walks with views over Olive tree plantations and rolling Andalusian hills. Visits to Andalusian villages unspoiled by tourism. Great cuisine prepared by local staff from the village of Algamitas at the farmhouse base, Cortijo Rosario. A fantastic insight into life in Andalucia and the opportunity to wind down in peaceful surroundings; waking up to birds singing in the morning. The staff at the Cortijo were very welcoming and friendly.

Most Inspirational Moment

Surreal views of the Andalusian hills; almost like a patchwork quilt. Camino del Rey walk and the walking just beneath El Penon were a real treat. The free day in Seville was amazing; great city to visit for the day.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Christopher Burke was friendly, knowledgeable and a helpful wonderful guide. Tina was shadowing Chris and leading portions of the walk she was friendly and enthusiastic; and she will make an excellent Exodus Guide.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Would highly recommend you to go on the trip as an introduction to this part of the World. We extended our trip for 3 nights to visit Granada; definitely worth it if you have time. I would travel to Andalucia again given the opportunity.

Fabulous walking, scenery and food

A great week of varied walks with a fantastic group, based in two very different but superb locations (Porte de Soller and Lluc Monastery).
Very good food at the local restaurants in Puerto de Soller and the restaurant outside the monastery. Eduardo (tour leader) made us such lovely picnics on the walks too!

Most Inspirational Moment

The views along the coastal path of Sa Costera and the stunning mountain pass scenery on the transfer to the monastery.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Eduardo is an excellent guide - highly experienced and with a great love and knowledge of his native Mallorca.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Walking boots are a good choice for the rocky paths. Pack lots of layers... it was very cold on the top of mountains, and cool at night too (traveled March 2016). We booked the moderate week and found it was very manageable for anyone with a reasonable level of fitness.

Brilliant Experiance

First solo trip and with Exodus. I had a fantastic trip, Mao looked after very well and felt we did more than the itinerary said. Feel that I want to do the trip all over again.

Most Inspirational Moment

The cycle rides, rickshaw just to name a few trips that showed a different side of Vietnam.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Mao, was very knowledgeable about his country and took us to some off the beaten track restaurants that excelled my expectations.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Yes, buy travelling mosquito, and suntan lotion. And take the water given on the internal flight.

Walking in Andalucia

What an amazing week! I wholeheartedly recommend this trip for anyone who is looking for a slightly challenging walk in beautiful countryside. The farmhouse is simply wonderful, spotlessly clean and was a pleasure coming back to after a long day of walking. Our group was friendly and I laughed the entire week. I was a bit worried about going on my own and having never been on an Exodus trip before I didn’t know what to expect. The week totally exceeded my expectations. Our days were well organised and thoroughly enjoyable. I was sad to leave. I’m looking into booking my next Exodus trip as soon as possible.

Most Inspirational Moment

The views from the Grazalema Mountains were spectacular. What a treat to go there on the very last day. The climb was a bit challenging at times but well worth it.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Chris was fantastic! He took everything in his stride and nothing was too much trouble. He is a gifted story teller and told us interesting facts and stories about the places we went to. Chris went out of his way to make sure my dietary requirements were met both at the Farmhouse and when we had meals elsewhere.

Advice for Potential Travellers

The water there is perfectly fine to drink. I drank it and I was fine. However, some people were not comfortable with doing so. We were given bottled water to drink. I would suggest bringing a water bottle with a filter which would reduce the number of plastic water bottles needed. Also, don't worry if you are going alone. You are looked after from the moment you arrive until the moment you leave. Our group was super friendly and everyone got on really well.

Vietnam the only way

I think this is the best thing I have ever done is was challenging, different and I feel I personally achieved something I will look back on and be pleased I did.

Most Inspirational Moment

Getting to the top of the hill on the hardest part of the ride, and being cheered in by the rest of the group and escorted by Chi who had come back to meet me. Sailing in Halong Bay very atmospheric, just the sheer fun of doing something so very different.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Chi was brilliant such a sense of humour, very knowledgable and good fun

Advice for Potential Travellers

Take as little as possible and just enjoy the whole experience you won't regret it. Get yourself fit to get the most out of it. I don't mean cycling for miles before you go but being cycling fit helps. I did gym sessions a couple of times a week and maybe one longish cycle ride a week.

Madiera Walking Holiday

I really enjoyed the week’s holiday I booked in Madeira through Exodus. The walks where perfect for me, not too demanding and not too tough. The scenery was stunning, the guide was knowledgeable and always had a very good sense of humour. The other people on the holiday were great company. The hotels were well chosen, the food was great. Everything was arranged very well indeed. The one disappointment was the weather, it was unseasonably cold. One word of advice, if you suffer from vertigo think twice before going on this holiday!

Most Inspirational Moment

I cannot pick out a precise moment, but the day walking along the cliff edge was the best.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Great sense of humour, knowledgeable without being overbearing.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Bring an extra layer or two as contingency, it was a bit colder than I expected.

if only it was just the mountains and desert

I did not write a review straight away as I had an issue to sort with exodus and I did not want that to cloud my review. I would agree with Tim ( Oct2015). when travelling leave your western attitudes at home and embrace the experience: the good, the bad and the ugly. We had all three. If this had just been the mountains and desert it would be five stars all the way. However the trip in the towns/villages made it feel more like a package tour holiday and there were just too many. I feel most of the group would have preferred an extra day in the desert or/and mountains. I did feel the transport could have been better. I have only Cuba via exodus to compare it with and that really was first class.

Most Inspirational Moment

Desert - awesome ( even though I was poorly ) magical

Thoughts on Group Leader

ok - would have liked more information on the culture of the country

Advice for Potential Travellers

read between the lines of the trip notes -the long journeys are long - and the transport can be cramped.

Cambodia & Vietnam

We selected to do the Cambodia extension before the Cycling Vietnam tour. We also added a few extra days in Cambodia and in Hanoi at the end – well worth it. The time spent around Siem Reap visiting the sights at Angkor Wat and Angkor Thom is amazing plus having a knowledgable guide to provide information as well as the best times for each of the many sights to see is essential. The hotel was changed from orginally planned, but it turned out better as the location was closer to the town center – City River Hotel.
The Cycling tour from Saigon to Hanoi was great as we lucked out in having a small group – can’t imagine it with more than 12 people as the schedule is pretty tight and the guide has to keep you on track. The hotels are better than we expected with very helpful staff everywhere. The route is varied from nice smooth roads by the coast to almost cart tracks in the country, but it provides for such a close up view of the Vietnamese countryside. Support from the guide, mechanic, bus and truck drivers was exceptional as they ensured that the group was safe, fed and watered, mechanically sound and ready for each day’s adventure. It is a good combination of biking, sightseeing and water activities. Also the train ride from Hue to Hanoi is fun and a good way to further interact with other travelers.

Most Inspirational Moment

Visiting the many sights around Angkor Wat and listening to some of the stories of our cycle guide. Also the museums associated with the killing fields of Pol Pot around Phnom Penh.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Both our guide in Cambodia and on the Vietnam cycle tour were excellent. We learned much more than the basic information of specific temples or sights, but insight to life in general in both countries. In addition the support of all the drivers and mechanic was great - timing was good and always with a smile.

Advice for Potential Travellers

If you are planning the Cycle tour up Vietnam you should spend a few extra days at the beginning and the end to see both Saigon and Hanoi and also get over any jet lag. You don't need lots of clothes as its a very informal tour and washing is easy. Also adding the Cambodia tour is worth it if you have never seen the Khmer sights.

Mixed weather, but amazing in the end!

A really great trip with an equally great group of people & 2 excellent guides (Hassan and Mohammed). At the start of the week we had bad weather, a lot of snow and low cloud, our first attempt to climb Toubkal was stopped because of it. The following day, the weather was calmer and as we were climbing, the cloud lifted and the most amazing views of the snowy Atlas mountains opened up around us. It was blue sky by the summit, and totally amazing! The following day hike to the pass with views of the Lac d’Infini was equally stunning, another highlight of the trip. Food in the mountain refuge at Toubkal was really good!

Most Inspirational Moment

Summit of Toubkal and the amazing views!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Hassan did a great job, he was very experienced (as was his assistant Mohammed), he kept us safe, organised everything well and connected well with the group.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Bring some card games or board games in case of any bad weather! Bring plenty of warm winter gear, it really was arctic on the day when the weather was bad. Although water purification tablets were on the trip list, there was no need for them as there was plenty of bottled water available. In total I used £180 of local currency including £50 tips (based on 13.5 Dirham to 1 GBP). Make sure you exchange any spare currency before going through airport security on the way home, you can't exchange it in the UK. On arrival in Marrakech if anyone trys selling you a cash card in the airport, say no (just get real cash), some of our group got one and it was mainly useless, but they at least got it refunded on the way home. If you've got new boots for use with crampons, make sure you've walked them in before the trip.

A fantastic week

Jordan is beautiful, unique and very friendly. The many different cultural influences at incredible places like Jaresh and Petra creates a sense of understanding the interwoven history of the Middle East and the Mediterranean.

Most Inspirational Moment

Petra leaves you at a loss of words. Spending two full days here with a knowledgeable guide was incredible. Wadi Rum and the desert was also breath taking.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Khalid was a great guide, knowledgeable, opinionated and always made everything work.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Bring clothes for all temperatures.
