Wonderful trip in a beautiful part of Italy. The walking was not challenging, which was a good thing given the heat in mid-June, and covered some stunning and scenic routes. Great food and accommodation in all three locations.

This was the best trip I’ve been on in years.
It’s so rare to have a trip which includes both walking and wildlife, but Julian created the perfect combination of the two with this trip. The scenery was spectacular, and it was just the right level of challenging for a townie who doesn’t normally do that much walking!
The locals in Yagodina are absolutely lovely, and the hotel staff couldn’t do enough for us.
The food was nearly all homemade and was so delicious. We certainly didn’t go hungry!
We were also so lucky to see as many bears and other wildlife as we did, and to have such a lovely group and guide who got on as well as we all did. We didn’t stop laughing all week!
I highly recommend this trip to anyone who likes walking, wildlife, stunning mountain and meadow views, delicious food and lovely people (what’s not to like??)
All the bear sightings - especially the cubs! I was also blown away by how spectacular the views were in the mountains.
Julian was a truly excellent group leader. He's a real expert in bears and other wildlife in this area, and it's very evident how important their welfare is to him. He has also had such a fascinating life so far, and has a lot of amazing and hilarious stories to tell! We had a real laugh with him during our week in the mountains, and I really think that this trip wouldn't be the same without him. He really made it special.
Expect to walk a lot, and some of the peaks are quite high if you have issues with heights. The food in Yagodina is delicious, but the portions are huge so don't expect to lose any weight! Also take some binoculars - I didn't and I really wish I had!
A good trip, if a little light on interesting places to stop and look at during the day, and a little heavy on very hot beaches. This was I think our 8th cycling trip, and one of the least interesting.
Views of some nice mountains, although nothing to match what we saw further north after the cycling when we hired a car to drive up to Olbia.
Very good, except that he did not seem to grasp that, for the English at least, the sort of people who go on cycling holidays are in general not the sort of people who want to lie on the beach in the middle of the day. On his last attempt to rouse us from a shady bar to go to the beach 100% of the group declined to go, preferring to push on to the lunchtime restaurant. He was absolutely brilliant is dealing with my dietary requirements as a coeliac.
Difficult to persuade Sardinian restaurants to provide any vegetables! If you are a vegetarian be prepared to live on pasta with tomato sauce, and salads consisting of little but iceberg lettuce.
This trip provides the opportunity to experience some very diverse, but all incredible, landscapes of Peru. It includes a bit of everything: adventure, trekking, wildlife, culture, history and great food – especially whilst camping on the Inca Trail! Our experiences were always enhanced by the seemingly inexhaustible knowledge of our various local guides. The trip was very well organised and communication with us, members of the group, was excellent throughout. It involves lots of packing and unpacking of bags for the different parts of the trip, so we needed to be organised too (!!), and Peruvian journeys by air, bus, train and boat! Day 2 of The Inca Trail is very challenging because of the altitude and the length of climb, but once you’ve got through that, Days 3 and 4 were fantastic walking, culminating in our first thrilling sight of Machu Picchu.
Watching the sunrise over the snowy mountain tops on Day 4 of the trek.
Fabricio was a very good leader and we felt in very capable hands. He gave us very clear information prior to all our journeys and activities. He was patient, encouraging and very knowledgeable about all sorts of things.
Having done numerous mountain hiking holidays with Exodus, it’s difficult to think of anywhere that has more stunning scenery. This combined with excellent guiding, provided appropriately challenging ( grade 5 ) hikes with fantastic and varied views.
Getting to the summit of Piz Boe.
Martin was an excellent leader. He provided support when needed for those who were slightly less confident on the more exposed routes. He coped with the varied ability of the group well, so that those at the front and those at the back of the group all enjoyed the hikes.
Great if you’re uncertain if you’re able to deal with grade 5 walks as grade 3 walks are also available each day.
Excellent and memorable cycling trip!
This was my daughter's first cycling trip. She is athletic but not an experienced cyclist. She had a wonderful experience without injury because of the excellent leadership and great bunch of other cyclists in this group. We enjoyed every moment! Kyung and Lea
Liz the group leader was an excellent person in every way. She is one of the best cycling leaders I ever had. She is very responsible, knowledgeable, and professional. Suzy was also very fun and caring.
Excellent tour company.
Mont Blanc was really the star of the trip. I loved the way we were put together in the Chalet (Chocolat) and led by Pete our group leader. Zoe and Ben also put every possible effort to look after us well. Most of all I met such wonderful and inspirational people in the group. I will be staying in touch with some and never forget the rest.
Lunch time on the first hiking day. I stood on the hill and the mountains opened up to me. It was honestly like the film, “The Sound of Music!” Used to London air conditioning and urban air. Being on these hills, I felt I could breathe properly away from pollution. As a child I read Heidi and matched my imagination so well. The scenery was what I had read about in my geography lessons as a child. This included the glacier cut landscapes and the rivers in the valleys.
Pete was obviously very experienced, educated and professional. To add to this he was always genuinely thoughtful about our welfare and safety. He was extremely kind, caring, and sensitive to our individual needs. I was rather anxious about this hiking trip. He certainly helped me increase my confidence in my abilities and next time go into something like this I’ll be more confident in my own abilities.
Make sure you read the advice, especially in the trip notes before going and make sure you don’t rush your preparation in the last minute. I would advise you to make sure you take all the suggested clothing/equipment as stated as it’s very helpful to have it as such. It includes the ear plugs as chalets are not especially sound proof. I went straight from work to travelling there and it’s always good to have some time to unwind and rest before and after. I found it a bit of a mental adjustment from inner city urban London. That way is the best way to appreciate the holiday the most.
This is a thoroughly enjoyable holiday if you enjoy the outdoors, walking, sampling local cuisine and of course tracking and even seeing bears! Our week could hardly have been better, from the very comfortable and friendly hotel, which served local dishes for every meal, to our expert guide and to the stunning scenery and wildlife which surrounds the lovely village of Yagodina. It was great to be able to walk from our hotel and experience such diversity of habitats, including lush open meadows filled with wild flowers, a mind boggling diversity of butterflies and even Corncrakes, beech woodland, rocky escarpments offering fantastic views of the countryside as well as raptors such as Hobbys and Peregrine Falcons and of course pine forests where the evidence of bear activity is all around you. Seeing bears during the day is extremely difficult but we had great success up at the hide where we saw big, solitary males and mothers with their young cubs. We even saw a sounder of Wild Boar complete with a young family of beautifully marked piglets. However the highlight was undoubtedly when we were fortunate enough to spot a mother bear with 2 of this year’s cubs in an open area below us. They were entirely oblivious to our presence and we could watch them behaving entirely naturally. Something I will never forget.
Being able to see the bears behaving entirely naturally was something I'll never forget. I realised just how gentle they are. In Bulgaria, where they are fully protected and therefore not hunted, it is possible to see them behaving as they should. Simply minding their own business and quietly eating their berries.
Julian is a wonderful guide. His knowledge of the bears and the local wildlife is second to none. His sense of humour and friendliness contributed to making this a very enjoyable tour.
Very busy , hugely interesting itinerary. Some quite breathtaking scenery, with opportunities for physical activity in order to experience it more fully. Very good tour leader, experienced, knowledgeable and well organised. Tour group (9 of us) , various ages and experiences, combined well. A great experience.
Hard to pick one particular moment or event. Perhaps the experience of Yosemite: view of the valley from Glacier Point, variety of hikes, and also appreciating the national park beyond the valley itself.
Very good. See above.
Some long days in the bus, but that doesn't have to be a problem- it can just mean that you see more.
Excellent trip. Day 1 walk was fairly ordinary, while days 2, 5 and 6 were all really fantastic. Extra special thanks to the Exodus team for making this trip happen, when the French ATC strike occurred.
Col de Palmente walk was rather special.
Tom Humphries is a great leader, very experienced in dealing with a group.
Make sure you book your flights through Exodus. If you don't and anything goes wrong, you need to sort it out yourself.
