A transfer of approximately 1 hour 20 minutes takes us to the Hotel Due Torri, our base for the week in the village of Bomerano, on the Agerola plains above the Amalfi Coast. Enjoy a warm welcome from local hosts the Acampora family before settling in. Land only clients can arrive at any time, although we do recommend arrival by approximately 8pm to meet the rest of the group and enjoy a first dinner together. Meals included: Dinner Day 1 Start Agerola. Those on group flights fly to Naples, where they will be met by their tour leader on arrival. A transfer of approximately 1 hour 20 minutes takes us to the Hotel Due Torri, our base for the week in the village of Bomerano, on the Agerola plains above the Amalfi Coast. Enjoy a warm welcome from our local hosts, the Acampora family, before settling in. Land only clients can arrive at any time, although we do recommend to join the group at the airport as public transport options to the hotel are limited. Meals included: Dinner Day 2 An impressive walk to top of Monte Tre Calli for great wide open views of the coastline. From the hotel, it's a short stroll to the village square (or in the case of Bomerano, a triangle) and the start of today’s walk. The circular route provides a good chance to stretch the legs; following a mixture of paths and tracks we ascend to the top of Monte Tre Calli to be rewarded with spectacular wide-open views of the jagged coastline and seemingly endless blue sea. The Agerola Plain and the village of Bomerano are laid out below us and on a clear day, we can see as far as the famous island of Capri, a haven and idyllic hideaway for many celebrated artists and writers over the past 200 years. After admiring the majestic scenery descend to Bomerano and enjoy some rest time before a hearty dinner. Meals included: Breakfast Lunch Dinner Day 3 Follow mule tracks and steps down to Amalfi; free afternoon to explore the famous cathedral or the Paper Mill Museum.Start walking towards Amalfi, a town popular with the British since Edwardian times when the upper classes favoured it as a pleasant place to spend their winters. The route has a downhill bias, following the path from Bomerano at 700m to the shores of the Mediterranean, accompanied by wonderful coastal views. There are sections of steps today (approx. 2000 in total), but there are also plenty of opportunities to rest and go at your own pace. On arrival, you will see the large Duomo (Cathedral) dominating the town with its brightly-coloured tiled cupola (dome), which along with the baroque facade and interior, is a typical example of regional architecture. Take some time to explore the town, swim in the small bay, or enjoy a well-earned gelato before taking the transfer back to Bomerano. Meals included: Breakfast Lunch Dinner Day 4 Drive to Bay of Naples; visit fascinating ruins of Pompeii and take an optional walk up the vast crater of Mt Vesuvius.Transfer to the Bay of Naples, the area spanning between the region’s capital city, Naples, and the town famed for its lemon groves, Sorrento. Situated on the lower foothills of the volcano dominating the Gulf, Pompeii was a thriving port town until Vesuvius’ catastrophic eruption spanning two days in 79AD during which the city was buried in ash and pumice. Lost for 1700 years, Pompeii is now a UNESCO World Heritage site as the perfectly preserved remains give us an amazing insight into life in a Roman city, complete with bathhouses, bakeries, and homes – some of which still have walls adorned with detailed frescoes. You may take some time to explore the site this morning, perhaps opting for a detailed tour accompanied by a local guide. After lunch, travel by bus high up onto the slopes of Vesuvius to view the volcanic crater. Depending on weather conditions, it may be possible to take one of the many extended walks around the caldera and beyond, led by an expert volcanologist (optional). Meals included: Breakfast Dinner Day 5 Walk from Ravello to Amalfi through the forests of the Valle delle Ferriere natural reserve.Today's walk starts in Ravello, a town much favoured by the Bloomsbury set and other artists and intellectuals due to its secluded location and inspirational scenery. Before setting off for the walk we have some free time to explore the town and visit Villa Cimbrone or Villa Rufolo with their meticulously landscaped gardens and breath-taking views out to the sea (optional). The route today is mostly downhill but it does include a considerable amount of steps. After descending and taking a quick stop in the village of Pontone, we continue through wooden bridges and shady paths carpeted with wild flowers in season, to the beautiful moss-clad waterfalls within the closed gates of the Valle delle Ferriere National Park. Finally, following the stream gently downwards through lemon groves, past the shells of former paper factories (a major local industry from the 12th to 19th centuries) and mediaeval ironworks we reach Amalfi. Meals included: Breakfast Lunch Dinner Day 6 Free day to relax or take a boat to Capri, visit Naples or Herculaneum (all optional).Today we have a day at leisure to relax at the hotel or go down to the seafront. The hotel also offers private transfers (payable locally) to the most popular attractions in the region not covered during the rest of the week, including the city of Herculaneum. Also destroyed during the disaster of 79AD, Herculaneum was buried in mud rather than ash and it is said that this lead to the site being even better preserved than the bigger Pompeii. You might instead choose to take a ferry to the chic island of Capri and the funicular through lemon groves up to Capri town. These optional excursions can be arranged locally by your leader. Alternatively, spend the free day by the pool or in true Italian style in a café, sipping espresso and watching the world go by! Meals included: Breakfast Day 7 'Walk of the Gods' with superb panoramic views all the way to Positano; return by boat to Amalfi; try some locally-made Mozzarella cheese.A fitting finale to the week is one of the world's finest day walks. Leaving the hotel it's a short stroll through the quiet village of Bomerano before we join the ‘Sentiero degli Dei’ (Walk of the Gods), thus named as it provides some of the most evocative views in the world, of ragged cliffs speckled with tiny villages and extensive views of the sparkling Mediterranean sea. The route follows undulating hills, carpeted with flowers in season, the contours of the land, and the coast. The trail is broken by insights into local life, passing shepherds huts and ancient stone houses carved into the limestone before we descend a long series of steps to the colourful Positano, an almost vertical town clinging to the rock face of a sheltered bay. Take some time to explore the alleyways lined with wisteria and designer boutiques or have a dip in the clear water of the beachfront before returning to Bomerano by boat and bus (seasonal) in the late afternoon. During the week many meals will have included some delicious local smoked mozzarella cheese and before dinner, we will have the chance to see how it is made and taste the mouth-wateringly fresh final product. Meals included: Breakfast Lunch Dinner To Naples; fly to London.Transfer to Naples; fly to London. Meals included: Breakfast Day 8 End Agerola.Trip ends in Bomerano. Meals included: Breakfast

Hotel Due Torri We spend 7 nights at the 3-star Hotel Due Torri in Bomerano, a small village in the municipality of Agerola set high above the Amalfi Coast at an altitude of approximately 700m. Run by the warm and welcoming Acampora family, the Hotel Due Torri is well known for its great local cuisine, providing authentic dishes of the Campania region as well as fun pizza-making demonstrations. All rooms have en suite facilities, air conditioning, TV with international channels, and free Wi-Fi.A limited number of superior rooms (with facilities including Jacuzzi bath, power showers, and fridge) are also available for a supplement payable pre-departure. Please ask your sales consultant for further info.Being higher up in the hills the property offers the benefit of cooler nights, although beaches are not too far away and there is a small outdoor pool (usually open from mid-April to mid-October, weather dependent). The village is generally quiet and provides a relaxing contrast to the busier towns by the sea.On occasion, if the hotel is full you might be offered (upon booking) to stay at an alternative accommodation located within walking distance from the Due Torri. Guests staying at alternative accommodation will still make use of all the facilities of Hotel Due Torri, including the pool and restaurant.

Reviewed April 2022 Mark ButterworthThe Real Walk of the Gods A very full week of walking and yes, lovely food and wine at the hotel. Amalfi, Positano, Mt Vesuvius and Pompeii, walks in the hills and a touch of coffee culture are the highlights of this trip. What was the most inspirational moment of your trip? The first view of Positano from the Walk of the Gods is mesmerising and stopped everyone in their tracks. Smiles all round and a great photo opportunity. The winding path brings sight of over-hanging cliffs, running streams, unusual flowers and the best sea view. What did you think of your group leader? Our group leader was excellent - she had a detailed knowledge of the area and set a steady and considered pace for the walking. She had a lovely manner, engaged with the whole group and managed the weather-related changes to the itinerary very effectively.Do you have any advice for potential travellers? Be prepared for the "moderate" end of the walks - nothing over straining but the walks might leave you needing a nap in the late afternoon! Is there anything else you would like to add? If you don't use the free day to take a boat to Capri, or the bus to Sorrento, consider a trip to Naples Archeological Museum for a close-up look at the fantastic relics from Pompeii and Herculaneum.
Reviewed March 2022 Jane WatsonAmazing Amalfi This was my first trip abroad since covid and loved it! The walks were amazing, Vania our group leader brilliant, Bomerano and the family hotel a great base and camaraderie of our group was lovely. We luckily had perfect weather for this holiday and as it was early in the season not many other tourists about so almost felt we had it to ourselves. Some of the walks are pretty challenging but so worth it!What was the most inspirational moment of your trip? Path of the gods was the best day, great views and variety plus paddle in the sea at the end. What did you think of your group leader? Vania was brilliant….. friendly, caring, knowledgeable, organised and funDo you have any advice for potential travellers? Do a bit of prep as the knees can take a bit of a pounding and take walking poles or borrow from the hotel.
Reviewed March 2022 John HarrisAmalfi Coast It was a great week and it was very well organised and we had a superb guide in VerianoWhat was the most inspirational moment of your trip? Path of the GodsWhat did you think of your group leader? Veriano was absolutely excellent, he was very friendly, very helpful and his local knowledge was first class, I can't speak highly enough about him.Do you have any advice for potential travellers? There's a lot of steep descents so walking poles could be useful for this. Walking boots were OK but it was all on paths so good walking trainers would be my preferred foot wear. Some of the paths were quite narrow with severe drops at the side so you'd need to be comfortable with that.Is there anything else you would like to add? The trip included a visit to Pompeii, however on the free day some of us went to Herculaneum and if I had to make a choice between the two I'f definitely opt for Herculaneum

I loved the scenery, our group leader was very knowledgeable. What did you think of your group leader? Veriano was lovely, very friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble.Do you have any advice for potential travellers? Just go with the flow. You will have a great time meeting new people. I’m a solo traveler, I thoroughly enjoyed myself, the group of 16 gelled together really well. We had a great timeIs there anything else you would like to add? I felt the accommodation quite basic, only having one power point in the room. I like having tea making facilities in the room but this was not available. I did however go down at 7am every morning for a tea to take back to my room. It would have been nice to have an English news Channel available. The room would benefit from an upgrade, it was rather tired. All in all a great holiday and the staff were fantastic
Reviewed March 2022 Jane GiddingsTrip spoilt because there were two groups The trip was completely spoilt for me because there were two Exodus groups on the same trip and much interaction between the two groups. I have been going on Exodus holidays for over 20 years because I enjoy small groups and the chance to experience the local ambience. On this holiday, I felt as though I was part of a British coach party abroad. The walking was superb but I was relieved when the holiday was over. What was the most inspirational moment of your trip? PompeiiWhat did you think of your group leader? Vania was brilliant.Do you have any advice for potential travellers? Expect more than one Exodus group on your holiday, even out of season. Also Exodus clients may be the only guests in the hotel. Be prepared for cold weather including snow and bitingly cold winds, even in March. Walking around the crater of Vesuvius may not be possible due to snow and ice. The food in the hotel was plentiful but uninspiring. No dish was worthy of a photo to send back to the family. The walking is on the high end of leisurely/moderate.
Reviewed March 2022 Andrew LongdenA great out of season week in Italy This is a deservedly popular Exodus holiday with a lot of activity packed in to a week. The walking is not especially difficult and has a downhill bias, with many steps to encounter. The Amalfi coast is very scenic and photogenic. Vesuvius dominates the landscape of the Bay of Naples and visits to Pompeii and Vesuvius are naturally included, although we think that a better pairing would be Vesuvius and Herculaneum, the latter being arguably (even) more interesting than Pompeii. What was the most inspirational moment of your trip? The walking is a necessary part of the holiday to offset the copious quantity of excellent Italian food, wine, gelato etc!! But this holiday also includes trips to Pompeii and Vesuvius which are "must see" sights for those even remotely interested in archeology and history. It was perhaps a pity that the trip to Pompeii was so short (barely 2 hours) but in fairness it was an extremely cold day. The optional trip to Herculaneum was also outstanding - it's a difficult choice to make about whether to do that or go to Capri. I also really enjoyed the visit to the paper factory in Amalfi - a most unusual experience for anyone interested in the early manufacturing processes of paper. No review of an Exodus holiday is complete without mentioning that we shared the holiday with a lovely group of people - our thanks to all for the company and friendship. What did you think of your group leader? Vania was an excellent leader - attentive, sociable, highly personable and clearly popular with hotel staff and others. Her walking style was relaxed, and she allowed people to walk at their own pace whilst still keeping the group together.Do you have any advice for potential travellers? This is a great out-of-season holiday - I suspect walking over the very hot summer months could be very tiring. Also, the tourist venues of Pompeii and Herculaneum are so much quieter. However, it can get very cold in Bomerano (snow on the hills), so bring hats, gloves and down jackets in the winter or early Spring weeks.
Reviewed January 2022 Susanna SmartChristmas Cracker This trip exceeded my expectations and is one of the best Christmases I have ever had. On Christmas Day, we walked the Path of the Gods under a cloudless blue sky and enjoyed spectacular views of the Amalfi coastline. During five full days walking, we ascended and descended the hillsides, winding our way along pretty pathways and villages, passing through woodland and jumping narrow streams. All the while, we were aware of the impossibly dramatic and beautiful view spread out below us and the coastline fringed with the turquoise sea. We were able to visit Ravello with its picturesque Villa Cimbrone gardens; Amalfi with its stunning cathedral and chic shops and Positano with its wide shoreline (although it was Christmas Day and nothing was open). On one day, we walked around the rim of Vesuvius and even ventured into the crater (quite hot) and followed that with a guided tour of Pompeii. On the last day, some of us took a taxi to Naples to visit the Archeological Museum and sample a perfect pizza from the town of its invention. What was the most inspirational moment of your trip? Driving back to the hotel along the winding coast road and witnessing the most spectacular sunset I have ever seen. What did you think of your group leader? Our tour leader, Veriano Verde, was excellent and went out of his way to make everything enjoyable for us. He has a good knowledge of the area so was able to tell us lots of interesting things about Agerola. Throughout the trip, he was unfailingly pleasant and helpful. He even gave up his day off to take a group of people up the mountain for a walk that we had had to forego because of the heavy fog.Do you have any advice for potential travellers? Take your walking poles and plenty of thin layers as the weather can be cool in the mountains and then hot on the coast. Is there anything else you would like to add? Go on this holiday - you won't regret it.
Reviewed January 2022 Christine BartonSo much more than just a walking holiday When I booked this walking holiday over Christmas I knew it would include walking in a fantastic area of Italy with wonderful views but this trip turned out to be so much more! Churches, gardens , history and a mini cooking holiday all included. The trips to Pompeii and Versuvius were both excellent with two knowledgeable guldes. The hotel truly was" family run" and the two evenings we were invited into the kitchen to watch /help prepare the food were interesting and informative. Have to give a special mention to the pizza night which was amazing. What was the most inspirational moment of your trip? Walking around the rim of the crater at Versuvius. What did you think of your group leader? Severio our guide, was very well organised and efficient but in a relaxed and friendly way which made all the activities so much more enjoyable He was very knowledgeable and his enthusiasm for the area and its food and drink was infectiousDo you have any advice for potential travellers? I am a regular walker but some of this terrain was challenging, in particular THE STEPS!! Would definitely recommend using walking poles and if you've got bad knees maybe it isn't the holiday for youIs there anything else you would like to add? Just a quick shout out to Katie in the office who in these difficult times for traveling was calm, patient and never made me feel like I was asking a stupid question, which sometimes I was !!!!!
Reviewed January 2022 Jane O'BrienA must! A very enjoyable trip during the 2nd winter of the pandemic; would love to go back again at another time of year but fear it would be too busy, this was just perfect. Daily walks with some amazing scenery. Hotel was just as described and run by a family of several generations with care and warmth, helpful in every way. What was the most inspirational moment of your trip? Walking the Path of the Gods on a gloriously warm sunny day in December. Walking to the highest point of the crater of Vesuvius in mist and cold! 2 different days of such contrast! What did you think of your group leader? Severio is a very experienced leader and is fully aware of the needs of individuals. Just seems to have everything simply organised all the time. Everyone knows him and he's always able to contact someone about something! Great sense of humour and willing to go the extra mile.Do you have any advice for potential travellers? There's lots of steps but you walk at your pace and just enjoy the scenery. At least one walking pole is a must.Is there anything else you would like to add? Pre-dinner cocktails in the hotel are great value, such a wide range, a different one every night and still many more to try! The food was very good.....4 courses if you can eat that much! The restaurant on the evening off was superb.
Reviewed November 2021 Mel CookeBonhomie, gelato and beautiful towns The trip is full of spectacular scenery. The towns in particular, Amalfi, Positano, Capri, and Ravello are lovely, and great to photograph. The walks usually have a view of the dramatic coastline, and include the Path of the Gods, worthy of a T-shirt. The group was really friendly, which really made the holiday for a single traveller. What was the most inspirational moment of your trip? Villa Cimbrone, Ravello, was spectacular. The villa, statues and gardens and the view from the 'infinity terrace' were great on a blue-sky day in October. What did you think of your group leader? Severio was great. He was a very experienced guide. He took good care of the group, arranged the itinerary according to the weather forecast, and gave us a lot of local information.Do you have any advice for potential travellers? The walking is not as easy as the trip notes suggest. The coastline is very rugged. One walk has over 2000 steps downwards, and on others the paths are steep and rocky. Walking poles are recommended (some were available at the hotel). Is there anything else you would like to add? The hotel and food were good. There is a nice mix of included meals, and days where you can check out the local cafes and restaurants. Bomerano is a good location (at the start of the Path of the Gods), but it is not easy to explore further towns on foot, eg on your day off. The arranged minibus transport, when not included in the trip price, are quite expensive.
