A great trip. I had been most looking forward to achieving my first 6000m summit ( which I did 😊), but the trek itself was absolutely stunning. Fantastic coloured landscapes, very exciting river crossings, great array of alpine flowers (never seen so many eidelweiss in one place!), amazing food and crew. Would highly recommend this trip.

Five high-altitude highlights of Ladakh treks
Ladakh Treks
In the northeastern corner of India, between the two highest mountain ranges in the world, the Himalaya and Karakorum, Ladakh is a sanctuary of Buddhist calm. It’s so remote, in fact, that you can take a trekking trip here with almost a total absence of Western influences, though a growing interest in the region may soon change that.
For more remote trails, hike through the Nubra Valley, where rare double-humped Bactrian camels share a near-unspoilt terrain with traditional shepherd camps.
Or, for a totally wild experience, search for snow leopards with Valerie Parkinson, our award-winning tour leader and the first British woman to summit Manaslu without supplementary oxygen. Ladakh is also home to our most challenging trekking trips: the Peaks of Ladakh Trek, in which you summit two peaks, Vatseri and Dzo Jongo East, and tackle seven passes.
If you’re new to the region and looking to build up to the tougher walks in the Himalaya, opt for Darjeeling, Sikkim & The Singalila Ridge, a trekking adventure taking in visits to Gantok, the capital of Sikkim, and the delightful Martam village which offers panoramic views of Mt. Kanchenjunga.

Sue Smith Ladakh: Nubra Valley TrekThis trip exceeded all my expectations. The stillness and solitude of the terrain. The beauty. The glacial ascent. My first time at altitude-and I loved it. Valerie, is a very wise, steady and trusted lead-a humble holder of stories and knowledge. And great food and guides too. And a wonderful group spirit. I could not have asked for more.
Adele Liebenberg Ladakh: Nubra Valley TrekMy first high-altitude hike – the Nubra Valley trek – and all I can say is WOW! With Valerie Parkinson as our tour leader, we were set up for an unforgettable adventure from day one. The incredible cook, knowledgeable guides, and fantastic camp crew made every moment a joy. If you’re thinking of exploring the Nubra Valley, you simply can’t go wrong with this trip. The only challenge now? Deciding on my next adventure!
