From steamy Tortoguero, with the howler monkeys waking us up at 5.00am (no need for an alarm!) to cool, mountainous Savegre thronging with hummingbirds, this was a tour of contrasting habitats each with their own variety of wildlife, plants and flowers. In addition to the wildlife elements of the tour, visits to the Aquiares coffee factory and CAITE research centre were incredibly interesting. The optional visit to the Bri Bri community was well worth it; we learned all about how chocolate is made from scratch and had great fun trying each part of the process.
While there were some longer travel days, they were well paced, never felt too onerous and we often saw interesting things en route. The boat trips were fantastic- just getting to Tortoguero and to Drake Bay were experiences in themselves, with opportunity to see lot of wildlife on the way. The snorkelling trip was amazing- we were able to swim above sea turtles, rays and amongst lots of colourful fish. Even if you don’t snorkel, the boat trip was worth doing- we saw a pod of humpback whales quite close to the boat, and a variety of birds.
The accommodation was comfortable and in all the hotel grounds we were able to spot a variety of wildlife- great for photographers who enjoy having a camera/phone in one hand and a ‘sundowner’ in the other!

A memory I will cherish occurred in Corcovado national park. I was cricking my neck to photograph some noisy spider monkeys swinging around high in the trees above us, when I heard our guide whisper 'don't move'. I looked down and saw a coati by my feet, as oblivious to me as I was to her. She was part of a small group and we avidly watched them foraging around us for quite a while- it was a wonderful experience!
Thoughts on Group Leader
Adriana was excellent and I can't praise her highly enough. She was knowledgeable, friendly, helpful, patient with all our questions, and also had a great sense of humour! Her experience showed; she was always organised and on time and I know she must have worked very hard in the background to make sure everything ran as smoothly as possible. She was relaxed and her pace was good which allowed plenty of time for spotting wildlife. Adriana worked very well with our driver Andres who was also very kind and helpful.
Advice for Potential Travellers
It's worth going a day or so earlier if you can to give yourself time to acclimatise. There are some good museums in San Jose, or you can chill out at one of the hotels- we stayed at the Bougainvillea which has extensive botanical gardens with a variety of wildlife.
Sujan Weerakoon was such an amazing leader. Sri Lanka and its people is fascinating and beautiful. Each day was packed with activities and visits to places of interest

A fantastic trip to a beautiful part of the world with the perfect mix of trekking, relaxation and fun. We were fortunate to have a superb guide, a great group, sunny weather and sightings of rare animals.

The final day of the W trek to the base of the Towers in Torres del Paine - a tough climb with a spectacular view. Spotting a puma and rare deer in the wild. The jaw-dropping Perito Moreno glacier. Another tough hike to Mt Fitzroy with incredible views.

Santiago was simply outstanding. He was organised, enthusiastic and worked so hard for the group to ensure everyone got the most from the trip. In addition, his knowledge of the region was exceptional - there wasn't a question he couldnt answer - be it animals, birds, plants, food, wine, country statistics, mountains... The list was endless.
Had a wonderful time. Costa Rica has such diverse ecosystems. We saw many types of exotic birds, mammals and reptiles. Our group leader has been superb and our driver has kept us safe with his cautious driving.

So difficult to say as as each stop was different. If I have to narrow down, I would say our stay at Esquinas Lodge because of its natural and eco-friendly environment.

Best Group Leader that I have had to date. He is very knowledgeable, approachable and enthusiastic. He always keep the group informed in a timely manner, and kept us safe.
The snowshoe in Transylvania exceeded expectations! Our guide Sebi lead our group on amazing hikes, shared Romanian history and culture on a level of a professor. Sebi understood all the questions asked and exhibited patience and humor throughout our week long holiday. Villa Hermani was comfortable, had excellent warmth and food and delightful staff. Highly recommend!

Sebi was amazing. Could not have asked for a better guide
From the moment we landed in Jordan, the trip ran perfectly smoothly. This was from being met at the airport all through the week to being taken back to the airport. Whilst everything was smooth and excellent, I have to make a special comment for our guide Abdallah. He absolutely made the trip joyous. He absolutely looked after us perfectly.

Walking up to Burdah Bridge. Having the first coffee after leaving the beduin camp. Watching the sunset on the rock with all the friends I have made.
