Amazing country but...

This was my third cycling trip with Exodus (April 2022). As always, it is a great way to experience a country. The sight, the smells, the noises. You can’t beat it. Jordan is a must see. The cycling itself is not challenging. The rides are quite short and a couple of steep hills but that is it. Unfortunately, I can’t recommend the tour because of the guide. Who has ever heard of a tour leader not cycling!?!?! His rules for cycling (everyone must be single file – always, you can’t stop for photos, you must cycle at the same pace and with minimal distance between each cyclist) was frustrating and at times dangerous. People have their own pace and to cycle out of this especially up and down hills can be downright dangerous. It was a shame because the group were fun and the itinerary was interesting.

Thoughts on Group Leader

The group leader must be a cyclist. It is just insanity not to have someone who understands cycling leading the tour.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Find out who the tour leader is first on this one! Normally, the group leaders are amazing...

Superb Sequoias and California

Fantastic trip to San Francisco taking in the sights of the city. Walking across the Golden Gate Bridge and seeing China Town. Yosemite National Park was amazing and seeing the Sequoia trees was unbelievable. I loved hiking thr mist trail upto Nevada Falls which was spectacular. Lake Tahoe was also amazing. The clear blue water was fantastic and I lived paddle boarding on the water. I would recommend this trip to anyone as I made great friends and memories that will last a lifetime.

Most Inspirational Moment

Hiking up the mist trail in Yosemite to stand at the top of the Nevada Falls.

Trails of Vietnam

Ashley Thuong guided this trip with a huge amount of expertise and dedication. She made it exciting, enjoyable and great in every way. I loved every moment and would thoroughtly recommend this itinerary.

Absolutely Fantastic

I absolutely loved this trip. Our guide Tudor was absolutely fantastic, he went above and beyond when organising things. We also met his wife Andra, another tour guide who helped out with some people who were unable to complete all of the walking, saving them from just sitting around the hotel. She also took me to the hospital when I had an allergic reaction to a wasp sting. Honestly the tour guides were amazing. The accommodation was brilliant, Katherina and Herman who ran the guesthouse were friendly and knowledgeable, the other staff couldn’t do enough for you. The food was delicious and we were given far too much to actually eat. The beer was nice too as well as the cherry schnapps. Excursions were all good, I enjoyed every one of them. The scenery was beautiful and people friendly. 10/10 go on this trip.

Most Inspirational Moment

Seeing wild bears was amazing. Also visiting the sanctuary was quite humbling.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Just go and enjoy it.

Quality African adventure

I would highly recommend this overland adventure to anyone wishing to see the highlights from Vic falls westwards along the Caprivi strip and then down the western coast of Namibia and South Africa to the Cape. There is not much down time as the tour packs in a lot of visits to famous sites, game drives, optional extras and many kilometres of travel.
Most Inspirational Moment

Its difficult to pick out a single inspirational moment, so here is my list: Viewing Victoria falls. Crashing through the the white waters of the mighty Zambezi river (white water rafting). Game drives and boat trips in Chobe and seeing a lioness with her cubs, Elephants and all the other animals. Camping in Ngepi and watching Hippos in the river and sunset and sunrise. Also the canoeing here. Etosha national park, the game drives and water holes. Taking a Cessna flight over the Kalahari and Namib deserts in Swakopmund. The amazing scenery in Deadvlei. Canoeing on the orange river. The Cape peninsula, including the penguins at Boulders beach.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Our group leaders (Onary on Andy) were exceptional. On this camping tour they worked very hard to ensure we were safe, well fed and fully informed at all times. Combine the long distances they drove us, the amazing camp meals they cooked, the organization to get us through the borders, the info they gave about animals and locations and their constant good humour shows them to be very professional tour guides.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Pack as lightly as possible, and be prepared for lots of sand and dust while camping. Take a camera with a good optical zoom and lots of storage media (I took 5k + of hi res photos)! Take clothes for both hot and cold conditions and some travel wash so you can wash them out. Take a 4 seasons sleeping bag as it gets cold at night.

Safari Tanzania

Our family thoroughly enjoyed it

Most Inspirational Moment

1) waking up to find water buck and zebra staring at me 2) hot air balloon trip.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Ten out of 10. 11 out of 10. Caring enthusiastic professional knowledgable and more. Superb communicator thank you Jacob I you can lead our next trip

Advice for Potential Travellers

Take a warm hat and warm clothing as well as safari gear. Ngorongoro gets cold. Buy the longest and best zoom lens for your camera

Amazing

This was an excellent good value tour. The guide was brilliant and the trip was varied, well planned and brilliantly executed. I loved every minute.

Most Inspirational Moment

The Sahara - what magical experience.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Hamid was outstanding - knowledgeable, attentive, thoughtful, caring and very funny! I cannot fault him at all.

Advice for Potential Travellers

You don't necessarily need hiking boots...I took them but didn't use them. Accommodation is basic but still great. Respect their culture and cover up. A little bit of shoulder on show is no big deal, but do cover knees etc...it was actually helpful in such high heat to be covered. Take a really good water bottle you can clip to a belt or bag. We didn't need water purification tablets. Throw yourself into it all as Morocco is very special and the people are wonderful.

Incredibly hiking holiday

I did this trip on my own, & was hoping to see a new country, do some challenging hikes and switch off. This trip did all this and more. The organisation was amazing – our guide Svetla was wonderful, incredibly knowledgeable and so helpful. The week was amazing – there was enough variety, some quite challenging but beautiful hikes, and great accommodation, food and company. It was great to see a week long trip in Europe with a ‘challenging’ rating – perfect for someone like me with a week’s holiday to use who wants to do something active and to see a new and beautiful part of the world, without having to do much organising (as Exodus did this). It felt like much longer than a week (in a great way) and was an amazing holiday! I will 100% be recommending to others!

Thoughts on Group Leader

Our group leader Svetla was amazing - she was really easy going but super organised, and was so knowledgeable about the area, the nature etc.

Three countries in less than 2 weeks!

This was a really exhilarating trip. We had such a diverse journey through mountainous landscapes and fascinating cities – with stops at a waterfall, lakes and interesting historical remote buildings. The itinerary was excellent.

Most Inspirational Moment

Kotor Bay and the Old cCty, Sarajevo and Mostar where we whitnessed a young diver jumping off the famous Ottoman Bridge. Also a visit to the highest and remotest village in Bosnia Hezagovinia where we met Sam's grandparents. A dying village that only has about 50 residents still living there -but not in the Winter.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Sam was fantastic in every area. Her English was totally colloquial and she had a great sense of humour. I must also praise Sam, the driver. I suffer from vertigo but never felt fearful whilst he was manipulating those hairpin bends through the mountains of Montenegro. We nicknamed them Big Sam and Little Sam.

Advice for Potential Travellers

I felt that one of the highlights listed on the website is not totally accurate. For example the walking in the Durmitor Park was described as 'Enjoy gentle walking in the stunning Durmitor National Park' I was one of the older members of the group and am fairly fit and am a Member of the Ramblers Association and regualary walk 7-9 miles most weekends. However, I found the terrain around the Black Lake extremely challenging insofar as we were walking on a mixture of unsteady and different sized rocks and tree roots. I actually had to be supported by Sam for this walk which was only about 4 miles but a very difficult 4 miles and took longer than expected. I would also like to point out that everywhere we went there were many many steep steps to navigate - mostly without rails.
