Walking the Amalfi Coast
This trip was chosen by my wife and myself at short notice but it turned out to be a fantastic blend of some slightly challenging walks ( due to rain and wind in November) loads of fantastic views , some incredibly interesting historic locations and even a swim in the bay at Positano on the last day at the end of November!
The hotel was very well run by a friendly family with beautiful cooking and the inclusion of 3 meals. made the wholetrip very reasonably priced. Our guide, Livia, helped us have a great time and made changes to accomodate the weather conditions and the differing physical abilities of the group members.
Most Inspirational Moment
The visit to Pompei followed by a walk to the crater rim of Vesuvius.
Thoughts on Group Leader
Livia is an excellent guide - the best we've ever encountered. All the group members were paricularly impressed by her warm-up and cool-down excercises and stretching for each walking day which were both useful and attracted a lot of welcome attention by passers-by. She has a great rapport with the hotel staff and also with the whole group particularly on Karaoke- night.
Advice for Potential Travellers
The first day's walk was challenging due to the weather and we would have benefited from more training to prepare ourselves. Do try and swim in the sea, you'll never get better views of the coast and you won't forget it.

Walking the Amalfi Coast
Great trip, well organised as normal. Fabulous views, walks and visits, nice group and a really good leader.
Most Inspirational Moment
Really enjoyed the guided walk round the crater of Vesuvius. Also the Walk of the Gods walk.
Thoughts on Group Leader
Thomas was exceptional, he was well organised and clearly very keen to please us in every way. He lead and organised us very knowledgably and is a very nice and caring man - no ego in sight!
Advice for Potential Travellers
We had very good weather for November with temperatures around 21-24 degs and very warm in the sun. Think it would be quite a tough trip if it was much warmer.

Amalfi walking holiday
great mix of walking, local peaks, wooded ravines and steps down to the pretty coastal resorts. Plus the ancient sites of Pompei and Versuvius – both amazing in their unique ways. Lots of steps – feels more like a grade 3 than a 2 at times, but well wroth the effort. the walk of the gods is a highlight. The local red wine was far too drinkable and we were well fed – I was the group vegetarian and I felt well catered for. Albert, our excellent guide, has a passion for for making sure you get the most out of your holiday
Most Inspirational Moment
The view from the peak on day one along the Amalfi coast to Capri has WOW factor.
Thoughts on Group Leader
Albert was fantastic - we were in safe hands.
Advice for Potential Travellers
Expect lots of walking up and down steps, walking poles aren't necessary but some may find they help

Amalfi Coast Hike
I did my first Exodus trip hiking the Amalfi Coast in September. It far surpassed my expectations. The hike itself is so beautiful. Everyday we were treated to absolutely spectacular views. The hiking was challenging as there were lots of ups and downs but it was “very doable” as our lovely guide Christine told us.
The group was made up of some Canadians with most being from the UK. I really enjoyed the dynamics of the group and our leader set the tone for what was a very pleasant time.
Our accommodation for the trip was also excellent, as was the food and the special activities like making pasta and tirimisu. Any problems that arouse were quickly taken care of and the staff were very helpful.
I’m already looking for another Exodus trip.
Most Inspirational Moment
Probably the views. They took your breathe away. Especially from the high views.
Thoughts on Group Leader
Christine was excellent. She is so positive and encouraging and we loved her little sayings that we were all quoting by the end of the week.

Walking the Amalfi Coast
I loved all of the trip! It was my first walking holiday – I’d only really started walking more tha 3/4 miles a day in September of this year and was not really sure I’d be up to all of the walks!
However I did them all with – lots of encouragement from the other guests and Albert and Severio who were leading.
Most Inspirational Moment
Doing the first walk just out of the hotel in Bomerano where we were staying! Which at end of week I thought had been the hardest!!
Just loved all of it!
Thoughts on Group Leader
Albert was great, despite always telling us "just a few more steps" " the next bit is easier" probably never walk up and down steps without thinking of him!! - in a good way of course!
Advice for Potential Travellers
Do make sure you have done some walking, I had done very little, but was glad I'd got a some longish walks in between September and 24/10 when the holiday started.
I had only used walking poles once before, but was very glad I had them as they really helped - I love them now! The Amalfi Coast has a LOT of steps - be sure your knees are up to it.
To Vera who I met on one of my WEALDLAND WALKERS outings - sure you will enjoy it as you already walk!

Walking the Amalfi Coast
Though the weather was not great the quality of the itinerary, flexibility and the people I had a great holiday.
Most Inspirational Moment
Going up versuvius in gale force winds!
Thoughts on Group Leader
Good though lack of Italian language skills meant did not benefit fully from local environment.
Advice for Potential Travellers
Just that it is a varied holiday with something for everyone. Just prepare for rain if going in October!

Lovely!
Moderate level hikes but leisurely pace – all perfectly doable. Stunning views, walking up and inside Vesuvius is amazing.
Most Inspirational Moment
Views from Vesuvius
Thoughts on Group Leader
Christine is fabulous! She knows the towns, the people, the history inside and out - a true local combined with the perspective and understanding of a Brit.
Advice for Potential Travellers
Going in October was great - I'd imagine the summer heat makes the treks harder.
Bring a walking pole!
Save some $$ for a day trip to Capri complete with private topless taxi with a wonderful driver/tour guide (Christine did a top notch job arranging it for us).
Spend some time in the town and get out of the hotel for at least one dinner.
If you can, spend some time before or after the trip in Italy to have a more complete experience instead of just going/leaving with the tour.

Fabulous holiday
Walking the Amalfi Coast is a fabulous trip and I highly recommend it!
Most Inspirational Moment
Views of the cities, towns, mountains, and coastlines during our treks.
Thoughts on Group Leader
Christine is awesome! She combines the best of being from the UK and relating to the travelers while also knowing the ins and outs of the region well, plus she's treated like a local. Listen to her advice - she speaks from experience.
Advice for Potential Travellers
Some thoughts... I went in October and we had great weather. I'd imagine the walks are much harder in summer heat... Bring a walking pole... Budget extra $$ to go to Capri and get the private driver (enjoy the convertible taxi).... Get out of the hotel for a meal or two to better experience the region. If you can, arrive early or stay late to visit a bit more of the region.

Walking the Amalfi Coast
I have just returned from Walking the Amalfi Coast. This was a really great holiday and I would really recommend it. The walks are all lovely, although they are not too long, they seem more difficult owing to the steepness of the terrain. You see beautiful scenery around the Amalfi Coast and also on the walk to Ravello. It is nice to see around Bomerano the village where the holiday is based, where they grow all kinds of vegetables and fruit and to see where cheese is made.
The hotel is a good standard and the staff really friendly and helpful. The food was really nice there.
I enjoyed getting to know all members of the group. We had a lot of fun and laughter together.
Most Inspirational Moment
Everything!
Thoughts on Group Leader
Christine was a very enthusiastic group leader, she was very experienced and knowledgeable having led this trip over the last 9 years. She is friendly and approachable. It was clear from the greetings she received from staff in the hotel and people from Bomerano where the trip is based that she is very well thought about. This makes it easier for her to arrangements for the groups benefit. Christine worked hard to make arrangements for the benefit of the group eg transport for our free day.
Advice for Potential Travellers
As in many of the reviews regarding this trip I would recommend bring a walking pole/poles, these are particularly needed owing to the steep steps, that are present in the majority of the walks.
I would also recommend bringing waterproof walking trousers in case of rain. Luckily I didn't need these on the days that we walked, however I didn't see places where you could buy walking gear in this part of Italy.
