Walking in Cappadocia

A great trip in the most extraordinary landscape. Challenging but doable for the not so young or fit ! Very comfortable family run hotel in a quiet village.

Most Inspirational Moment

Hard to say as it was all most enjoyable. I felt a sense of achievement every day as I was considerably less fit than most of my group but I still got there in the end! I was really pleased to see so many wild flowers despite being told that the spring flowers were over.

Thoughts on Group Leader

He was extremely knowledgeable about all aspects of his country and had a thorough knowledge of the paths and tracks in the area in which we were walking. He very capably juggled our itinerary to cope with at times difficult weather conditions, making sure that we were safe and did not miss any of the highlights, and in fact adding a few extras.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Wet weather gear! We had some torrential rainstorms but were always conveniently nearby local cafés !

Inca Trail and the Amazon Rainforest

Amazing trip which packs in so much in two weeks it’s hard to believe. From the brilliant amazon to the truly stunning inca trail.

Most Inspirational Moment

Quite a few, playing football in the amazon was good and watching the sunset on the island in lake Titicaca were great, but the third day of the inca trail walking through the mountains was something else.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Wilfredo was a brilliant fella who never found anything to much trouble, knowledgeable and always approachable. Even taking the time on his free day in Cusco to show us around.

Advice for Potential Travellers

This is a once in life time trip, just go (also wet wipes come in handy camping for four days )

Walking in Cappadoccia

Probably a day too long – walks were not varied enough to support so many days. Guide was good. Evening food was fine, altho the menu was almost always the same. Picnic lunch one day was a nice variation. Green Hotel was not really up to 3 star standard, rooms were good size but were rather basic. Breakfasts at the hotel were very basic and not 3 star standard. Hotel staff were attentive and tried to help when asked for assistance. Bus was good and comfortable.

Most Inspirational Moment

The Cathedral on t he second last day. Also the gorge on the same day - sorry cant remember names.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Fine. Knowledgeable and related well to the group. Gave an interesting summary of Turkish history to help us relate to the caves and their eras, altho probably went on a bit too long about it. Organized meals well and gave sufficient prior information so we knew what was intended. Was flexible, rearranging the walks to make them more sensible. Guide waited for tail end walkers to catch up occasionally, but then didnt pause to allow them to rest but started immediately.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Worth advising potential travellers that many paths have gravel making them slippery on downslopes. Need to take walking poles. Definitely need hats and sunburn cream becuase of heat in June.

Walking the Fjords

This is a trip with some cultural content for walkers who are capable of hiking up hills and walking for between 4-6 hours a day. The scenery is stunning.

Most Inspirational Moment

This is a difficult question. I think probably walking across a high plateau, and seeing snow capped mountains in the distance.

Thoughts on Group Leader

The group leader was excellent. He had a deep love of his home; an encyclopaedic local knowledge; and knew much of his country's history as well. He adjusted the programme according to the weather, and other factors.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Do this holiday if you are something of a hiker who can climb hills on rocky paths. Do not do this holiday if you only walk in towns or in parks, and do not have a decent degree of fitness.

Hot and sticky in Cuba

Fascinating visit to super country

Most Inspirational Moment

Getting off the bike at the end! Seriously no one particular moment stands out, it is a great place to visit, lots of new experiences and unusual to still see a society being run on socialist principles.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Our leader was very hard working, funny and also passionate about his country. He was on duty about 16 hours a day and generally all the eating places, re-fuel stops and hotel arrangements ran very well. Where they did not, this was usually outside of his control. This was his first bike for a long time and he was a little unfit maybe -but so was I....

Advice for Potential Travellers

Leave you pre-conceptions at home as Cuba will suprise and amaze you. It is generally very safe and the people are very friendly. The food can be quite dire with limited choice and tedious. This is changing and will only improve. There is tons of excellent fresh fruit, and most places do a great mojito. Take some drink supplements to add to the water, insect repellant, plenty of sun cream and £ sterling to change. Prices are very cheap by european standards. The hotels are generally the best in each town and most are in restored colonial era style buildings. Don't eat in the Havana hotel, there are better options locally.

We are glad that Nigel found the trip to be fascinating and that he found Cuba to be a super country. We were concerned to learn, however, that Nigel felt uncomfortable with the way in which the animals were treated at the crocodile farm. The idea behind Guama crocodile farm at the Bay of Pigs is that they are preserving a species which is in danger of extinction (crocodylus rhombifer, or Cuban Crocodile) and this is why we pay a brief visit to the farm with our groups when passing through the region. The natural habitat of the species is now reduced to the Zapata Swamp and on Isla de la Juventud. In response to your feedback, we shall stop visiting immediately and investigate the claims with our local partners. Adam Roberts – Product Manager for Cuba

A great experience in a stunning part of Europe

Great trip for those who like a well rounded experience in a stunning part of Italy. You will experience great hikes along Italy’s stunning north western coastline, with the charm and sophistication of the small villages and resort towns. If you like good food and wine you’re in for a treat.

Most Inspirational Moment

Great blend of amazing natural beauty alongside some of the most picturesque Italian coastline with gastronomical delights.

Thoughts on Group Leader

The group leader was really passionate about this region and all it had to offer.

Advice for Potential Travellers

You need a reasonable level of fitness and if travelling in the warmer months make sure you're well prepared to hydrate and protect yourself from the sun.

Mont Blanc Circuit

Great way to undertake this classic long distance Alpine trek.

Most Inspirational Moment

Fighting the snow and biting wind on the high passes in July. Be prepared for cold weather. Also the amazing view from the 3842m Aiguille du Midi cable car. Highly recommended if you have good weather.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Both Nick (mountain guide) and Tom (camp manager) were excellent. Very knowledgeable, full of enthusiasm and great company.

Advice for Potential Travellers

The descents are really hard on your knees. Take knee supports and trekking poles if you have a history of knee problems.

Excellent walking in Tuscany

An excellent trip which I thoroughly enjoyed with first class accommodation and superb cooking by Mamma.

Most Inspirational Moment

Reaching the summit of Monte Sumbra which I had determined to do beforehand.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Sara was absolutely wonderful. I cannot fault her. She looked after everybody and there were times when I was particularly grateful for her attitude and attention. I really cannot praise her highly enough.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Take a pair of poles with you-some of the descents are particularly steep and rough.

Poorly constructed trip with some dire accommodation

I have travelled with Exodus several times to adventurous places. This trip was not well constructed, with much (almost half) wasted time. One of the hotels was beyond dire and another treated us very badly indeed. The Hotel Tragos in Trogir was superb and highly recommended. The group was pleasant and the leader was excellent. However, I feel I could have easily organised this trip myself much better and much cheaper. This begs the question why it is constructed this way? Croatia is a glorious country and this should not put you off going, but there are better ways of doing it.

Most Inspirational Moment

Walking on the Island of Korcula, which is lovely out of the main town. However, the old town has turned into Ibiza! The old town of Dubrovnik is amazing. Just wander and get lost in the old streets. It is very crowded, but don't let that put you off.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Excellent. She was amazing. It wasn't the most cohesive group we have encountered and the holiday did have problems. However, she sorted them all with humour and patience. Her knowledge was superb.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Organise it yourself!

Whilst we are happy that Karen’s tour leader was excellent, we were very sorry to hear that Karen was not happy with some of the accommodation on this trip and that she felt there was too much free time. We usually find that the pace of this trip works well, but we have followed Karen’s comments up with our local operator and we will keep a close eye on future client feedback to ensure that our expected accommodation standards are met.

Galapagos WAG

Just back from this trip. Wish we were still on board the Cachalote. What an amazing experience! The time in Quito is limited but we managed to pack in lots, the Teleferico, Old Town, La Bascilica, Botanical Gardens, Quito is easy to get around, taxis are cheap. All transfers were very well managed by the local agents Enchanted Expeditions. The boat, Cachalote 1 was fantastic. Great crew, all friendly. El Capitan ran the ship well. Pedro made exceptional food both quality and amounts from his little galley. Safety was taken seriously. The Galapagos Islands were all and much more than expected. Every day was different, packed full of activities and experiences.

Most Inspirational Moment

Difficult to say what was best, because every day was inspirational. Love the blue footed boobies and all the other birds, even saw the Frigate birds in full display. Never thought I would be swimming with sharks, turtles, sea lions and penguins. Each island was special in its own way. Also our group was lovely, we all got on really well, which goes towards making the experience even more special.

Thoughts on Group Leader

Darwin (yes, that is his real name) was fabulous. He was knowledgeable about everything we wanted to know. He took his time to explain things to us. He seemed to take as much pleasure from the trip as we did.

Advice for Potential Travellers

Take sea sickness tablets, we had a couple of rough navigations. This time of year it is worth hiring a wet suit from Richard on the boat ($30 for the week) as its gets a bit cold in the water. Snorkels and masks available on board for free. Try and take biodegradable sun cream so you know you are not harming the environment.
